  2. I've been experienceing a weird glitch only when playing online, this doesn't affect my son, so I thought it had something to do with me being the host, so we swapped around, and nope same, perfectly smooth online for him, and I experience a stutter every 2 seconds, a minor frame lag.  It is far from game breaking, but it is a little off-putting, and weird.

Then, it got brought up in a discussion on Twitter, and it turns out its not the game, or internet connection, but the way in which the game interacts with your Friends List on the Switch itself.  If you've a large number of friends in that underused friend list then you will experience this weird frame drop ewvery 2 seconds when playing online, doesnt affect the offline single player.

The only way around it at present is to make another account and play using that.  Let's hope Capcom sorts this out for the final version.

  3. The very good 'The Hong Kong Massacre' now has a review up at the main webpage, unfortunately it's not as good as 'Hotline Miami Collection', but will make a worthy companion for lovers of the latter.

  5. Thanks @Vileplume2000 and @Julius added those to the vote count.  It's a three way draw,

A new page, so I'll repost the opening of the voting again here.

As mentioned in this week's N-E Cafe Podcast [059] Nintendo to Shut Down on March 31st, we are asking those who are interested to participate in another PodPals Community based gaming session.

The theme this month is Indie darlings and Walking simulators.

The games to vote from are:

    1. Inside [1]
    2. Mark of the Ninja: Remastered [0]
    3. Mutant Mudds [0]
    4. SteamWorld Dig 2 [0]
    5. Celeste [0]
    6. Gris [0]
    7. Gone Home [1]
    8. What Remains of Edith Finch [1]

We’ll give 2 weeks to finalise and count the votes, and then announce the results on the podcast recorded on the 17th of January, and available from all good podcast providers on Tuesday, 19th January.

Once, we know what game has been selected, it’s down to you, and us 3 hosts, to play the game and share our thoughts on every aspect of it.  From does the game live up to its nostalgia, the music, to negativity and positivity.  Please share.

We’ll be recording the PodPals Episode on the 21st of February (maybe on the 14th if all goes well).

I'll get the ball rolling and I'm voting for Inside.

    Thanks to all who participate.

  9. @WackerJr Thanks.  Shocked to find out that you don't know about Basingstoke's thriving community of Perfumers.

And, Happy Holidays from all of us, we're not taking a break this year, so we'll back next Tuesday with episode 58, and an Awards show to rival The Keighleys.

  11. We carried on the Among Us theme, but played in separate rooms, and recorded our voices as we play independantly.  What results is 2 videos with the same visual feed, i.e. my play time as we can only record off the one Switch, but different audio logs taking you through the thought process.  Quite happy with the outcome, as my son is hilarious after you've watched my video first for context.

  12. Jumping on the zeitgeist, the band wagon and everything else, and maybe a little too late, but we had fun playing through a couple of rounds of Among Us.

    [Together] Among Us (Part 1)

Old Nintendo Gamer & Son tackle 2 games in the social phenomenon. Sitting and chatting in the same room, is it fair to help each other?

  14. [Morgan Plays] Thumper (Level 2)

Morgan tackles the slightly longer and more precarious 2nd level. This time adding in the ability to fly for a short distance to clear tricky spike traps.
Trying to get Morgan to play more things by himself, this time with me commentating and trying not to distract him too much.  This game is so hypnotically mesmeric.

Lee, do you fancy giving some thoughts/impressions on Nintendo Land in an up and coming episode? I don't watch Let's Plays (sorry :( ) but I would be interested to hear what you think about the game after all these years. There was a little bit of chatter about it during this weeks episode but I want more! :D

Most certainly will do.  Still need to play through the last of the 3 games, which happen to be the competitive multiplayer games, but I'll give it a good chat in the upcoming weeks.

Once again, slow day for me:

    • Lee's pronunciation of the Greek word Kratos is absolutely right (and also how they say it in Tales of Symphonia), and it is the rootword for terms such as Democracy (Demos + Kratos) or Theocracy (Theos + Kratos). However, Santa Monica didn't get the memo, and the God of War character has been called "Kraytos" ever since his inception;
    • Freedom Planet has 3 playable characters. There were two more in the pipeline for DLC as you said, but those were cancelled (the director mentioned they couldn't make them work properly). It was a bit of a small controversy, since that DLC was a Kickstarter goal. I am, indeed, a big fan of the game;

Had a feeling the Greek's didn't do the long a sound for the single vowel.  I studied archaeology, but went in for the Human Origins stuff, not the modern Greeks.

Freedom Planet is a really solid game, wondering how you think it holds up to the classic Sonic games.

  18. This one turned out to be a disaster, wonky left analogue stick, and an unwanted face reveal, which is not inkeeping with the aesthetic of our channel, or anonymity for our son, so a little post production octopus was necessary.

    [Together] NintendoLand: Octopus Dance

Old Nintendo Gamer & Son contemplate a face reveal, but damn those Octopi, and that wonky left analogue stick. Shocking performance.
