With all this talk of digital deals I have a question for everyone - what is your current backlog and how are you going about trying to cut it down? I generally split my gaming time between 2 platforms - Switch and Xbox, and do find I have long periods where I'm pretty much focussed on one of these exclusively leading to the other platform building even more of a collection of unfinished games. Also I find I'm adding more things that I want to play much quicker than I can play the existing stuff thanks to watching gaming media in general, and this is not including that urge you sometimes get to replay something you already finished.

That's a great one for a Listener Question that'd we'd be more than happy to tackle on the podcast.  Thanks.

And, there's no way I would have guessed the Transition Tunes this week.

Yep, just finished listening to this weeks episode, absolutely fantastic, really enjoyed it, only one thing could have made it even better...

...Ray-Tracing! :laughing:

Everybody needs Ray-Tracing in their life.

Listened for the first time while jogging and really enjoyed it, will add this to my rotation of things to listen to.

My only suggestion/request would be to mention game names again when you finish talking about them. Maybe it's because I'm running but I quite often found I'd be interested in what you guys were talking about but had missed/forgotten the name of the game and they never got mentioned again and just referred to as "it" in the conversation. I don't think it took anything away from the quality of the show, but it would be a nice thing to have.

Really impressed with the work on this, you guys have done a great job.

Thanks.  I hope the enjoyment we get from talking about our gaming love comes through.  I will try my best to mention the game name at the end.  I listen to the Kermode and Mayo Film Review Podcast and I have the same problem with their films.  I'm sure there will be loads of instances where we don't remention a game's name again, and there's always the show notes that can be referred to.  Not so handy when you're jogging I know.

Thanks again.  We'll keep them coming.

5. Oh you can't play it on TV? They do only have one Switch. Are the games tabletop with a Joy-Con each then?

Yes, you can play on TV. Either using a single JoyCon each, or in handheld, both using touchscreen. Some games favour one method over another, but what I’ve seen so far, is that all games can be played both handheld and docked. Some card games, mahjong, dominoes, though don’t work in 2 player on one Switch, regardless of TV or not, as your opponent would see your hand.

I noticed Grid: Autosport is on sale at the moment, does anyone here have any experience with that game? I'm more into arcade style racing games so I'm wary of investing in a more simulation based game but I am really tempted to pick this up. Is it quite heavy on the simulation or is it a bit more accessible than the likes of the F1 games?

I've played the game extensively, and it's a sim racer in everything it does.  Yes, you don't have to tinker with the car setup if you don't want to, and the ease of changing to a difficulty level of your choosing is extensive, there is a lot going on.  Controlling the car on track though is simulation, there are options to turn the controls toward a more arcade racer experience, but it's still simulation at the end of the day.  Great if anyone likes a more sim racing game, and there's not much of that on Switch.

7. For those that do have it can you let me know if it would be suitable for kids aged...I wanna say 5 and 9? Something like that. Both in terms of difficulty level but also 'can they play this together without killing each other?'
Thinking of ordering it for my friend's kids.

There’s such a great variety of different games, only played on the touch screen, but each game requires a minimal of learning that kids pick up easy.
If they only have one Switch between them, it limits the amount of games, but he arcade action sport games are fun for quick plays. Plus if it teaches them chess, bonus.
I bought it for me and my son to play together, he’s 13, but I would have got it regardless of his age. Fun package for a quick blast every now and then.

9. @Ganepark32 I’d be interested to hear how Borderlands runs in local split screen mode. That’s how I’ll be playing most of it, if I pick it up. And whether you can play in local split screen and still take the game online?

10. Last shout-out before I count the final votes.

For myself, I haven't voted yet, and find myself in a quandry.  Only owning Doom (original), I would prefer to vote for that, or 64.  That would tie the vote up and unless we have someone step in to vote between the 2, paper, scissors stone for the winner??

• Your pronunciation of Porto Alegre is spot on. The pronunciation of Minuano sounds right too, but I myself have never heard of that car brand :heh: ;
• I was listening to this during my commute. While you were describing the relentless, fast, and efficient police cars of OMG! Police Car Chase Simulator, I was stuck in traffic on account of a slow, inefficient team of policemen attempting to nudge a badly parked van. Life is irony;
• Good to hear Nick has started Fire Emblem (and doing a semi-Ironman run too, respect). Stop by the thread if you ever need some tips (for example, recruitment is not exactly as you described it, but you're on the right track). I must ask: which party member did you lose? My gut tells me Ashe;
• I didn't get a single N64 question right (save for the Quest 64 one). That's what happens when not a single question is about Zelda, Pokémon, Mario 64, Goemon, or Tetrisphere :heh:

As for the transition tune...no idea

      Here's my guess, none the less (Reveal hidden contents)

Great to know I can hold my own with Portuguese pronounciation, haha.

Police, huh.  Either going breakneck speeds, or not moving at all, nothing in the middle.

I need to get back to FE: 3H, something tells me it's still a long time coming though.

You should have been a guest, I wouldn't have come last in the quiz, as usual.

Spoiler

That's what I thought it was, but was shot down by Nick.

13. At the time of planning this week's podcast, which will start recording in an hour or so, we only had Sam's Conefession.  So, we changed the topic of this week's podcast to show our love of Nintendo's 64th console.

Not to worry, now that we've had a lot more interest, we'll be adding the confessions theme to next week's pocast, episode 29.

So, I'm using this as a call out to anyone else who is interested in sharing your Gaming Confessions with us, be they stupidity or intentional tomfoolery.  We'd love to hear them and share them with our gaming and Podcast community.

Thanks.

14. Are you in the UK londragon? Was wondering if I could buy the contact cleaner on the high street or if I would need to buy it from Screwfix.

I’m not living in the UK, but I’m sure any decent hardware shop should supply it. Failing that B&Q definitely will, and quite sure the tool, or electrical section in most supermarkets may have it, too.

15. Posting this here, too.  Just to see if a few others are interested in sharing their short anecdotes.

@nekunando got his brains working overtime, and came up with a great idea for an N-E Cafe podcast Big Topic this week.

It's going to be a 'confessions episode'.  We'd like as many people as possible to confess to a gaming sin (sins).  It can be anything you can think of, like enjoying a terrible game, a humourous incident while playing, absolutely anything.

Now, if your confession is too juicy, you may be embarrassed to share.  And because of this, your confession can be open or anonymous.  If so, just send a DM to me, who'll be tight lipped about the said incident.

We can't wait to hear from you all.
