  1. Holy Smokes. Bad Jokes.

What's the link between gravity and catholicism? Both only exist as long as there is mass in the universe.
  2. Saying Goodbye

"Don't you forget about me...don't, don't, don't. Don't you forget about me, Bah bababaaaah" Simple Minds is always a good leaving gift. I remember leaving uni,it was quite a depressing moment as one by one my housemates of 4 years packed up and left. The whole campus just felt so vacant. We still all meet up now and again, go paintballing and stuff, but it's not quite the same as the days when we'd go out drinking and then stay up playing Mario Kart and throwing pasta at one another until dawn. Halcyon days they were.
  3. Election 2010 - Con/Lib Government

Ah shite, libs have lost out in my two surrounding areas to the conservatives and labour have remained in my area. Looking at the map on BBC news we're a little red blob in a sea of blue. How depressing, do people really think a cyborg is the best choice for PM. Have we learned nothing from Terminator.
  4. Election 2010 - Con/Lib Government

Ugh, wish Gordon would stop tying himself in knots with grovelling apologies to everyone. People want honesty from the politicians these days so he should have stuck to his guns and admitted he just didn't like the woman and disagreed with her opinions. You would never catch Thatcher apologising for anything (not that she's a great example, but at least she had balls (possibly literally)). Personally I want to see the raging, fierce, confrontational face of big Gord that he has behind the scenes.
  5. N-E Picture Caption Game

It's important that couples to know and respect each others time to be alone. For example Boris likes to spend part of his evening reading the days papers while his wife prefers to settle on the sofa with a boxset of Desperate Housewives.
  6. Election 2010 - Con/Lib Government

Well, I think I'll be sticking with the Lib Dems. I like the Greens, but I generally don't find their policies that realistic in terms of being able to implement them. Survey pretty much backs what I thought 75% Lib Dem and 25% Labour on the score of Economy, Education, Environment and Welfare (when I finally got it working).
  7. Collateral Murder

They say "Yeah, we got a guy shooting, just behind that building". Also, is it usual for armed insurgents to casually mill about in open when there are American helicopters circling. Like I say, if they actually mistook cameras for guns then I can see their reasoning. However if I was about to gun down 8 people I'd want to make damn sure I was right. The part I have much more of a problem with is the whole watching an injured guy dying and saying "come on buddy just pick up a gun" willing them so that you have an excuse to have another fun shooting round. By the time they started shooting the van had picked up the injured guy and was reversing to leave the scene and as far I could see they made no attempt to look for weapons and went straight to the aid of the guy.
  8. Collateral Murder

An absolute fucking disgrace. I thought we were meant to be the good guys. Alright, maybe you might very possibly mistake a camera for a gun, but not one shot was fired at the helicopter. If it ended there I might be able to go fair enough they made a mistake. But then to focus on a wounded person crawling along a pavement and be willing him to pick up a weapon so as you'd have an excuse to shoot him some more is sickening. Then it goes even further; shooting people who are of no immediate threat to yourself while they try to help a seriously injured person...disgusting. Just to put icing on the cake they then have a good old laugh at the fact one of people they just killed gets run over by a tank showing no remorse at all and shrug off injuring two kids as being their fault for bringing them to a "battle". No matter what your opinion on the war as a whole I can't believe anyone could find anything honourable or justified in these actions.
  9. Miserable Basterd Gets Older

You've survived another orbit on a ball of rock spinning at 1600km/h and travelling at 30km/s through space littered with debris around a nuclear fusion reactor with a surface temperature of 5,500°C and a surface area 6,086,500,000,000,000,000m2 firing out 385,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 watts of deadly radiation. A mighty achievement, congratulations and happy birthday.
  10. N-E Picture Caption Game

Looks like Chief Bromden is at it again. You know the door can open Chief Break-Everything.
  11. good on-line games?

Boxhead, it's an old one but still pretty fun.
  12. How was your day?

That's a sweet t-shirt design Retro, I likes very much. Bloody hell, a heart attack at 19, that's awful. Never really know what's appropriate to say in situations like this, but I'm really sorry to hear that.
  13. Copper cleared of assault

Seems like an utter piss take to me. Police officers get abuse from lairy drunks almost every night of the week yet rarely do you see police battering people outside of clubs for being mouthy. It just wouldn't be accepted, yet suddenly it's fine behaviour because it's at a protest and it was just a radical lefty who got hurt so who cares. Also I find it hard to believe an armed police officer backed up by whole unit feared for his safety from a small woman with an orange carton. We also don't know the full background to this. From most of what I've seen and heard the police at the protests were acting in an extremely heavy handed and unnecessary manner towards the protesters essentially provoking the reaction of this woman.
  14. Sayings and Phrases that annoy you

"I turned around to him and said...then he turned to me and said...so I just like turned round and said....then she turned to me....and I turned and was just like....etc etc" Really, really bad, although it conjures up the amusing image of people slowly revolving during an argument.
  15. The Music Thread.

As in "Paid in Full", hell yeah, that's a slice of classy old school golden age hip-hop right there. Got the free download of Pheonix live from the Observer, it is pretty good. It give a completely different view of them than I got from the album. In other news I went to buy Joanna Newsom the other day on the repeated recommendations of this thread and found it sold out. Guess I'm getting paid on Friday so I may just have to try again.
  16. Lost: The Final Season

Yeah, I guess he's happily settled down with Penny and his kid. Just seems a bit of a limp ending for what seemed such a vital character. Hopefully he'll make a few guest appearances in the sideline-verse
  17. Wednesdays...

Yep, apart from Saturday, which I think is named after the roman god Saturn and Sunday and Monday, which are named after the sun and moon.
  18. How was your day?

Man, I'd love to go and check that out, that's the 1km long fissure volcano that's opened up isn't it. I feel my geology geek urges rising. Anyway today I got rejected for yet another job, which now makes......I don't know, I've lost count. At least they had the courtesy to write and tell me though, so that's progress of a sort.
  19. Lost: The Final Season

Did a series catch up at the weekend. It's odd, I've been trying to piece together events from previous series to see if they make any sense in light of the revelations of the new series, I'm not sure if there are any startling discoveries to be made though. Also been waiting for the reappearance of Desmond, but apparently he's not on the cast list for this series, which makes me a very sad bunny.
  20. Wednesdays...

Wednesday has a pretty cool and unique spelling. It also is named after Odin and anything related to a Nordic god is generally win, therefore I like it as a day. In fact I don't think any day is particularly bad, it's just the things that happen on that day.
  21. How was your day?

Man that's going to suck, getting electric shocks off everything. Sex is going to be hellish. No wonder Raiden looks pissed off. I was loving the sun today, working down in a basement I never get to see much of it, but now I have I really feel just peachy. Makes up for the weekend where I went to see James Chance and Les Contortions in London with my dad. James Chance was legendary and I even got to shake the hand of the man himself, but then I got utterly wrecked, lost about 3 hours of memory, possibly had a drunken arguement with my dad, had my wallet nicked and we ended up stranded in London until 6:30 in the morning. So a night of ups and downs. Also Flink, you sound like the teachers I loved at school.
  22. User Image Gallery

Lovely stuff. You seem to have the best pose really, fun and relaxed with a hint of danger. Someone seems to have smeared crap on Mr I's letter judging by the disgust on his face while Mrs U and Mr N were clearly either unprepared or incapable of holding the troublesome letters. I like Mr U and Mr !'s styles as well though.
  23. This is very true, I knew a guy who did maths at university. For three straight days he stayed in his room revising, only appearing every two hours or so to make a cup of tea...only he would only take one step every second to the kettle and every step he would whisper to himself "big man". When he reached his room again he would shout "BIG MAN" and slam the door for another two hours.
  24. Save 6Music!

Few minutes on google found me that Channel 4 gets part of its funding from S4C which is partly funded from advertising and partly from the TV license. I'd agree the enforcement of the TV license is a bit protection racket-esque and some of the rules are bullshit (for example the rule that seperate rooms in a university house need a seperate license, despite being in the same building). However I still stand by it being excellent value when compared against say Sky.
  25. Save 6Music!

Ugh, I hate to see the BBC bending to pressure from idiots who can't see what good value it is compared to the shite you get with a commercial TV subscription. On the news they had some bellend from the Sun saying it didn't go far enough and they should cut everything apart from BBC 1, 2 and Radio 4. In other words "Cut everything apart from the things I like, bugger everyone else"....cock. Anyway, out of the cuts 6music is definately the most painful. The BBC logic goes that Radio 1 and 2 can play some more alternative stuff to make-up for its loss. Radio 1 still plays Nickleback FFS.
