  1. Play-Asia. The pricing is fair, and the shipping, via Fed-Ex, is reasonable, too.

Just a heads up for people. I got a fedex customs bill like a week after it was delivered. That was via play-asia.

365 gaming are based within the UK. Sad thing is they don't seem to stock any cover plates :(

  2. Wow, people are passionate on this topic.

It is aimed as the budget version of the 3DS, with less features (no 3D obviously). Thankfully, they've chosen to remove the feature many people weren't that bothered about, and some were put off by. Unlike the Wii Mini, which removed online and GameCube capability. It's just the odd game that'll be seriously affected by lack of 3D / clameshell aspects.

It looks like a younger kids toy and its aimed the way. Hopefully it's made pretty sturdy and comfy to play with.

I think the main thing is trying to get it at retail for under £100. Currently there are good offers on regular 3DS and XLs. This week we bought an XL with Luigi's Mansion 2 (and free digital copy of animal crossing via promotion) for £155. I think £110 for a 2DS with no games is too much.

  3. @DahmerStu popped over this morning to check out messy messy RoseHall, then whilst my gates was open I had a couple visitors. After DahmerStu left I found out somewhere you can sit that I never knew about!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! It was so cute! That's me, @LukeLee and my mate Toria...such a lovely pic! Think twas LukeLee who brought it to Tor's attention, then I went along and this happened! So lovely. There's more...but I won't spoil too much.

I also discovered today you can only have 32 best friends, this upsets me slightly as I might start making cuts to make way for others. Such a handy function(in fact without it DahmerStu wouldn't have popped over) but such a shame it's limited.

You know if you sit there long enough you get credits about your town?

  4. I had a awesome day yesterday. Had a random day out in Manchester and the GAME store in the Arndale shopping centre had Nintendo hosting a Mario Kart time trial tournament (top gear style). It was tense and close, the 1st place prize was a giant Mario Kart trophy, 2nd and 3rd place won a smaller shell trophy. After a few rounds, it was intense and I got first place.

Here is my big first place trophy along with one I got off the star catalogue a while ago.

  5. The proposals sound nice in theory. But practically, the limitations are very impractical.

Say you wanted to do a job / career where driving was required (health visitors or home care for example), you'd have to pay a fortune learning to drive, and be severely limited the first two years.

I also tend to think that many accidents are caused by drivers who KNOW how they should be driving but CHOOSE not to drive correctly. Those that speed / tailgate / don't respect distances / choose not to pay attention / act like they always have right of way. Which is more about attitude.

  6. Noonvale Fishing Invitational!

10am UK time, gates open in one hour! The first person to catch 10 fish and meet me at the train station wins 50,000 Bells.

Gather at the station and when I say "GO!" the ten minutes start.

When I say "WINNER!" the tourney is over! Remember your etiquette for visiting other towns and feel free to bring gifts for your gracious host :D

If I've not added you and you've not added me yet, bad luck!

Have you bought the timer yet? It's shows how many fish each player has caught in 10mins. Otherwise I could of caught 10 fish before entering your town, after 5 mins just say I caught 10 ;-)

  7. My first experience of Animal Crossing will have to wait :hmm: Nintendo haven't sent me the code to download it, yet..

Log into your account on the Nintendo.co.uk, click on "my account" and the code should be in a banner at the top of the page.

  8. aaaah I'm totally not jealous or anything :indeed:

The pattern you created looks amazing! And your avatar looks really cute! :p

For anyone who has an Iphone / Ipad, there is this handy little app that automatically makes designs from any of your pictures, and transfers them to QR codes. So you can scan them on the 3DS. It's free and totally nifty:

    QR MyDesign assistant

(it is not ipad enhanced, but you can just open it in "iphone mode" or whatever that is called)

Thank you, should be helpful in time ;-)

  9. Generally, i feel quite negative about the future of the industry.

Watching the PS4 unveiling, i felt annoyed and insulted by one of the promotional comments "The only limitation is the developers imagination"...... because games are free to fund and develop??

In the current generation, AAA titles are already costing a fortune to develop, we have seen many studios become victim and close down. But it also sets up an expectation with many consumers, who expect a similar production value with other games they buy. So imagine how this situation will be next generation - consumers won't want to pay more for their games, which will cost much more to make.

Regarding the PS4. I wasn't overly impressed, still feel there are too many questions. I expect it'll come with a hefty price tag. I originally bought a PS3 over an xbox360 because i wanted a blu ray player and at that time, a standalone blu ray player wasn't much cheaper than a PS3. I can't say the choice will be as obvious this time.

For the next xbox. Hard to say anything when nothing has been revealed. But I have always been against the Live memberships. Maybe because Nintendo and Sony have spoilt me with free online play. But Live is such a cash cow, I just don't see that stopping.

I imagine the next xbox and PS4 having high retail prices. Of course, there will be early adopters, but will families and casual buyers jump ship as quick? I'm not sure. Also, I think "serious" gamers / graphics sensitive gamers (where price tag isn't off putting) will continue moving over to PC gaming.

Personally, for me, I am on a reasonable wage, but I won't be rushing to get either, its just too much money at a time when money is tight and the future is uncertain jobwise. Also, maybe I am in a minority, but I have never looked at games like; Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption, Tomb Raider and thought to myself; "This game looks bad, it needs better graphics". The only area I felt consoles really needed to improve upon was the online infrastructure, so that big MMORGs like World of Warcraft were playable on a console.

  10. Has this forum turned into N-EoGAF?

I know, what has happened to this place?

I agree that a new generation isn't just about graphics, about the experience and that's what Nintendo need to focus on, when they did the horsepower race alone, they struggled to compete. Their new direction helped them survive. Graphically I don't think we really need to improve upon xbox360 standards, games like skyrim and red dead redemption are stunning. Any graphical leap won't be so massive. I think it's more on processing, it'd be nice for consoles to be able to offer MMORPG games. Besides anyone so obsessed by graphics should be a PC gamer anyway.

I think certain games like Nintendo land are beautiful and when you also think it is outputting those graphics on the TV and gamepad. I'm sure games will look better in time. You'll see a game that looks next gen when you see both the tv and tablet in front of you and do things you couldn't do before in gaming. It's just not how some expect next gen to be.
