  1. ROAD RAGE!!!

Speed limits are no guarantee of stopping in time, if someone steps out at the last second you can't help but hit them. But hitting someone at 30mph they have a better chance of surviving, but thats not certain either. Anyway, things that annoy me as a driver; - Petrol prices, insurance... - People who don't use indicators, especially on busy roundabouts. - Tailgating, i always end up slowing down and no letting them past, lightly touch my breaks to freak them out and if they carry on i put my fog lights on. It especially gets to me if they tail gate on the motorway yet have the fast lane free. - People who try to undertake me on the motorway, I end up speeding up and not letting them past. - people who go very slow on national speed limit zones. - tractors, gypsie vans or anything stupidly slow on winedy roads where you cant overtake. - *0% of motorcyclists
  2. How was your day?

well today has been odd. My systems were slow at work so the day dragged, in the morning I was accidently logged into Kylie Minogue's profile on her website, so that was really odd, had a nosey at her fan mail. This evening i've been playing on WoW and i'm now in an emotional mood and fed up of the love life.
  3. Join the Army? Or not?

I have to disagree with this point. Britian was strong enough to hold off the Nazis (because we are a good force and because we are not on mainland europe so we are not as easy to invade). But the main reasons they were defeated was because they went for Russia in conditions they couldnt handle and they were stupid enough to take on America and the A-bomb. Anyway, my stance on joining. In ways I think if i knew I had a designed career path in Psychology I would be interested, but I think psychologists would be employed by the army on a freelance basis. Generally though I think I'd be more suited to a more autnomous role where I can hold and express my own views, rather than have my actions decided by a government department (and every new government elected) for the rest of my working life. I wouldnt say I'm anti-army, I believe we need an army, just dont agree with everything they do - but here's the thing, with the big decisions its not the army that makes the decisions it's government again.
  4. Halo 3 Kid. In 10 years time..

  6. Disaster: Day of Crisis

lol, I've just looked at this thread this morning. I thought most of us were able to hold a discussion without getting all personal and argumentative. Yeah we're all nintendo fans, but it doesn't mean we have to be blindly in love with the company and because most members here will have an xbox360 / PS3 as well as a Wii then its natural they'll discuss it. I don't talk on here as much as I used to, I dont have time in the evenings and generally dont see many discussions that interest me enough to get involved. However, I know there are some really amazing people on here and overall I always found it much more friendly then the likes of GAMEFAQS. I love nintendo exclusives, i think Nintendo make the best games, but i think the line up for the rest of this year is quite poor. The only nintendo exclusive I am half looking forward to is Animal Crossing and from what media is out there I think it could have been so much more. The other games I am looking forward to are non-exclusives like Force Unleashed and lego batman. To be honest if I had a PS3 or 360 i'd get the non exclusives on one of these, because graphically they are usually better and same goes for online, I might reconsider my stand if 3rd parties really made the effort to make wii controls something more the 'waggle'.
  7. Job Dilemma

Okay, here goes... I'm a psychology graduate. the last year i've been in an IT job but applying for jobs all over the place. Anyway, a month ago i got an invite for a job i couldnt even remember applying for. I've been offered the job, but not that sure if i want to do it. It'd be working on an acute mental health forensic ward with people who are murderers, rapists, pedophiles etc. Its never been the clinical population I've been interested in working with, and hell yeah its scary i'd be learning restraint and manual handling. But part of me would like to conquer the challenge and if i got 6 months on ward experience it'd open up other doors. Money is low and hours are unsociable - sooo i have no idea, my mind is all over the place on this one.
  8. Job Dilemma

hell yeah, from £8 an hour to £12 - but that partly cos agency had been cheating us the last 3 months and it should have been £9.50 per hour. BTW, thanks for the compliment
  9. Job Dilemma

well I've had an interesting couple of days. Yesterday I was offered this job, i said I needed a couple of days to think. Well today, I went to an interview for a voluntary assistant psychologist post. Speaking about the post it'll be 80% client based and 20% research / audit. I'd recieve weekly supervision and have some real input. So amazing experience. Well 2 hours after the interview they rang me up and said they'd like to offer me a post. The even better today, I found out that I've recieved an £8k pay rise, so i'll be getting an extra £100 a week. Then once the CRB clears i'll be on more money than i am on now working 4 days and one day voluntary. Also there's a fair chance of a job through the voluntary experience eventually. so a low down... in my admin job with the wage rise i'll be on £366 per week roughly the voluntary will knock it down to £266, which is slightly more than i'm currently on. The job I talked about in this post would put me on about £191 per week. So i think my plan is to take the voluntary post for great experience, i'll still be on good money. Until the CRB and everything clears for that i'll try put £200 a week to clear a load of my debt.
  10. Coo-uld it bee Dazz-ic now?

    Happy Birthday Toby!
  11. How to make a good CV

He's right, it's known in Psychology as the primary and recency effect, in fairly long lists people tend to remember the start and the ends of the list. Start for long term memory and last for short-term. Anyway, the CV should be tailored around the person specification. I'd agree that ideally it should be a unique CV for every job, but when you're applying for loads all over the country and you know they dont stay open long (as in my position) then you don't have time to make it completely unique. If i remember correctly there are 3 types of CVs, not that i can remember all the names. A CV is something you should be working on fairly often. I'll PM you my two CVs, but be mindful of what they're looking for and your own position. Also, avoid dead space, that half a page is wasted, if need be just put your references there.
  12. Nintendo Collectables!

Sounds like your friend is rich
  13. Animal Crossing: Lets Go to the City

I have to admit I am disappointed so far. Graphics aren't much of a step forward, but I can live with that it is art style. There are no mention of how wii controls work, online is again limited to 4 players, thats same as DS, wii should be able to do much better, have 10 friends over. There appears to be no greater level of activity with objects (but i'll admit, thats first impression only). No mention of greater AI or less repetitiveness from animals (but this may be announced later). This game could achieve alot, it could create a really interactive and dynamic world with the use of the wii remote and with the 'always online'ness of the wii it could make the game really open ended with possibilities with not just message sending (which the wii message boad already does), but with friends popping in randomly as you're doing your chores. So far it's looking like a slightly improved version of the DS game. Don't get me wrong I loved the DS game, I played it for a year, but this could be so much more. The only thing I like is that it has the mii mask, so it will feel more like its me in the game. But it loses points naturally as it's not portable like the ds. I'd like to be improved wrong because I have been looking forward to Animal Crossing since the wii was announced. but the only 4 players online is a huge letdown.
  14. nooooooooooooooooo i love the animal characters. I hope to see my faves return. I really liked the fox called Chief.
  15. what part of the human?
  16. Game's Greatest Games of all time.

Wii Fit at #29 ?? Don't get me wrong I like it and think its a great idea. But to call it a game is a stretch, let alone include it in this kind of list.
  17. Okay, I needed to rant. So yesterday I get home from work and i've got two letters, i open them to find out they are 'reminders' for parking fines, one in early march, one in mid april. But this is the first I've heard of them. I've never found a ticket on my car and I was never sent an initial notification of the fine back at those dates. So they want to charge me £50 for each ticket, plus £20 each for each reminder. Totalling £140. What fucks me off is this is the first I've heard of it, 3 months later for one of the incidents. So either its a stupid parking attendent not putting the tickets on or someone taking them off before I get back to my car. Cos its so old the cctv probably has been destroyed now. So i'm pretty fucked off with this out of the blue. I had to ask them over the phone today that there wasnt any other fines they were going to surprise on me. Annoys me, they could easily invent these dates and just use my registration number, there will be no proof a ticket was put on my car, not this late on. Thing is, if they did their job properly and put a ticket on and sent out a letter at the time, i'd of had a £50 but would of known what I did wrong and be able to avoid doing it again and likewise avoid the additional reminder fees. So anyway, I've had to send a letter explaining all this to someone in the debt department. Northern rail. The dirty bastards!
  18. Would you meet an online friend in person?

    awww, wanna be online friends?
  19. RANT: Bastard car parking fines

it happened 3 months ao / 1 and a half months ago. When I called up they said it was down to causing an obstruction, not that I can really remember.
  20. RANT: Bastard car parking fines

    whats the reduced rate?
  21. Would you meet an online friend in person?

I've met quite a few people off the net but only Takeo off these forums.
  22. I know that BB used to account for 15-20% of Channel 4's annual profit. It was certainly a fair chunk for one programme, so they've always been desperate to keep it and I'm not sure but I think they paid a big contract to have exclusive rights for the next few years. However, it's now such a tired format its hard to imagine it'll have anywhere near as many viewers as it once had.
