  1. Have they still not confirmed if it wil come to Europe? i do not fancy attempting to import one right now
  2. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet

Given how much I love Arceus, I’m an for the first time in a long time very excited for the new gen. we had a tiny trailer to that showed open areas, I don’t think it will be bland open world nonsense and I suspect what we will get will be like Arceus, a hybrid of the old style games, but with large ‘wild areas’ only with cities at the edge of the zone that connects to the next. I’m pleasantly hopeful on how this will work out
  3. Office Chairs

This is a wierd topic i can get behind! i need a new office chair for my girlfriend, she works from the dining room table but with an office chair thats fine but looks so out of place when everythign else is oak furniture, plus wheels don't work on thick pile carpet. Do they even do 'stylish' office chairs? office chairs that don't have wheels? (since you have to get up and pick it up to move it) I use the upstairs 'office' ( a space under the cabin bed with a monitor and an office chair) but since i'm out most days for work, or in our actual office, you would think she would just use that, but no, downstairs she stays because she likes looking out of the window. I do wonder how she gets any work done if thats her chief criteria for a work enviornment Anyway i digress, I've had in the past an office chair and switched it for a gaming chair and its by far the worst chair. I don't really know what makes it a gaming chair? crippling pain? creaky? uncomfortable? not really things i'd associate with gaming.
  4. Favourite Switch experience (so far)

For me my favourite switch experiences still come back to some of the earlier games, Mario Odessey, Mario Kart and most importantly Breath of the Wild. Those three games were fantastic, but really showed off the system and its versatility, docking, undocking and feeling like the game was both a console and handheld game at once, a perfect Hybrid. Breath of the Wild probably the most of them has the fondest memories, as it captured the feelings i had when i played The Legend of Zelda A link to the Past (the first one i played), which coupled with me taking the game away on a trip with me and actually playing it on a hill during a break in our walk...it just was everything. Annoyingly since then not much has captured the same feeling for me, I've ended up with an indie RPG box of a switch which mainly stays as a handheld and i don't find I enjoy it nearly as much as a handheld. I think this is because a lot of ports of games are just very bare bones and end up being slightly worse version of PS5/Xbox/PC version of the same game and they just get marketed as the benefit being portability. Whilst thats great, sometimes they don't adjust for the portability and some games just have graphical downgrades to accommodate and then when you put them in the dock the game is poorer for it. The examples for me being Fairy Tail, Diablo 3, Burnout Paradise. Not to say they aren't good but they are lacking and portability doesn't always make up for it. But I digress, the vast majority of the games have been fantastic certainly the first party ones, but they always would be, i would hope that with the much rumoured upgraded switch 3rd Parties might catch up a little
  5. PC Gaming Discussion

The Steam Deck really intreagues me no end.I was already thinking i wanted a new PC to play games, but i just didn't see the point as such in connecting it to the same TV my PS5 is on,as 9 out of 10 times i could get the same game for PS5. That and i didn'tknow where to begin due to graphics cards prices. Then along comes what looks like a Switch clone that i can keep on steam OS or put on windows and run my expansive Steam library on and when the mood takes buy games for that. the fact i can dock it with a TV or the monitor i have from work for home working means its the ideal solution for now, until i want a PC build. I don't see it as a direct competitor to the Switch in the short term, but should it work and should it prove to be a good option, i can see anyone who wanted a switch pro buying one, and realistically its 2022 before we get an actual switch pro. Hell the money i was going to spend on a Switch OLED will cover this, so Nintendo already lost a sale and it seems i'm not an isolated case. Maybe it will make help nitnendo, they don't want to get too confortable with that handheld monopoly
  6. The Star Wars Thread

Idrina Varma would make a fantastic live action Night sister, say Ventress
  7. Pokémon Legends: Arceus (28th January 2022)

Someone on Reddit pointed out that Typhlosion's Japanese name is Bakufuun. Its name is a play on Bakufu, which translates to Shogunate, or Shogun. Shogun were titles given to Military Generals in Feudal Japan. Well i like the look of this obvious spin off game, i'm sure we'll see more settlements, trainers and the like, that was a teaser. The whole thing is a test bed for them to learn before expanding their worlds for the next gen of games
  8. Job woes/wins

A year ago i applied for a more senior position at work, but due to COVID they postponed the position. Well it came up again and i applied for it and got told off by my head of service, there was a higher post and he wanted me to apply for both, "what did i have to lose, you're more than capable of both and its a learning curve anyway" Well had the interview for the senior post Friday and the 'lower' of the two today, starts off "right well we lured you here under false pretences, we aren't going to interview you for this post, we'd like to offer you the higher one!" 13 years i've been here, been passed over for promotion for a few junior to me, well its come up milhouse, i'm higher than all of them now!
  9. Nintendo Direct : 17 / 02 / 21 - 10pm (UK time)

Wow an actual direct AND 50 minutes! hell yeah all about the hype train I expect a lot of Zelda, BOTW2, an anniversary collection It would be real nice to see the Oracles/Seasons coming on the Links awakening engine, but i think thats a long shot Hopefully some Metroid I'd love a switch pro announcement but doubt it Is it too much to hope for a 2D Metroid too? and some F-Zero? Star Fox? Hopefully some good third party offerings
  10. Cyberpunk 2077 (10th December 2020)

I mean Cyberpunk is well under cooked and needs some work, it certainly doesn't live up to the claims put out by CDproject red (as is evidenced by the cut content/last minute cop system)....but people think they deserve their products source code being stolen and leaked? I suppose they think if you run a red light you should be shot too?
  11. Cyberpunk 2077 (10th December 2020)

I've put about 5 or maybe 6 hours into this and had a crash almost an hour to an hour and a half into a play session, effectively making me rage quit and play something else. I'm not too fussed at that next gen update, as it looks great as it is, however it really is so transparent how this game shouldn't have launched until mid 2021 and they probably should have bitten the bullet and say no PS4/xbox version, only next gen as it really feels like the game was rushed/held back/too ambitious to run on base ps4/xbox. I really wanted to love this game, have it scratch my Deus Ex itch since SE decided to chase marvel money and can that IP, and so far its not lived up to any expectations, including the one to actually just run. Its wierd, my impressions of "its from the studio that made witcher 3" seems to be the devs own downfall
  12. I've only just started playing this - any tips? is there any hidden weapons? things not to sell/infuse/trash? Just got to the bit where you can access Korok forest, and so far i like a lot of the game and combat. Characterwise, Daruk is too slow, I still don't like Revali's smug face, Impa and Urabosa are great fun, Link feels a little underwealming so for and i've not even seen a Zelda mission to use her on.
  13. Star Wars: Outlaws (Ubisoft)

My only experience of Massive is The Division, so its hard to know what to expect, but their world building is very very good, so i have faith there. I do however wonder what type of game will it be? they've done Assassin's creed before, so will it be a single player like that or will it be more like their most recent foray into GAAS? Now GAAS is a wierd one, I love Destiny, The Division not as much, played both and sold them after the first expansion realising everything was a bullet sponge and it wasn't fun. Marvel is the only new GAAS i've played and that as a concept was good, the execution? well dire. So i don't really want a GAAS.......HOWEVER, Star War's massive online multiplayers have been great, KOTOR is very popular, but having not played it, that's the limit of my experience, but Star Wars Galaxies? now that was fantastic, I put about 2500 hours into that before the NGE ruined my jedi run (was waiting the stranger to put me on the path and left for two months to concentrate on uni and when i came back, Jedi were a crap starting class) So i'm cautiously optimistic - the dev's world building is top notch and star wars can work well if its either a single player or a multiplayers, so heres hoping this doesn't buck the trend
  14. Bought this myself, because i remember loving this game so much. Well i'm terrible at this game utterly terrible, but man i still love every second of muddling through it! I'm so happy i can play it properly again with out digging out my PS3
  15. The entire govenment is a shit show, they will not do the same as other countries doing things right until they absolutely have to, its like a bratty teen refusing to do the same because they hate someone. Its all lies, all half truths! everyone could see after the last lockdown opening schools was a bad idea, not closing borders or testing/quarantining on arrival, not doing a decent track and trace etc etc et fucking cetera! What happened to Operation Moon shot? the rapid testing to get the economy going? did Cummings the puppet master run off with the money? What about the world class Track and Trace, thats currently akin to a ebaumsworld flash game no scratch that there we at least functional. Sure vaccinations are happening, and have been planning since late October, i should know we've been planning for the mass vaccination centres in the Leeds area since then, but at this point it feels like the policy is still "let the poor die and reduce the surplus population" whilst they ready the vaccine only and line their pockets. Honestly lets just have Nicola Sturgeon as PM, he copies her anyway weeks later, cut out the baffoon and put someone competent in charge! who knows maybe Scotland won't want independence if she's in charge and can shift power away from Chequers pig noshing twats. utterly sick of people and the government included not taking this seriously, not wanting to copy other successful countries like New Zealand (because their different) how about we fucking try? don't you have faith we could? this half arsed keep the economy going for as long as possible is just prolonging the pandemic in the UK and fucking the economy and people for decades! So much for the Tory party of fiscal responsibility, they piss away more money than a drunk in a casino
  16. Mass Effect Legendary Edition (14th May 2021)

I wanted this for so long, ideally on the switch for portablity but even then i wanted it on PC or PS4 too, so i'm VERY happy. Yesterday was just a great day
  17. Star Wars Squadrons

Got this and tried it out Friday with a few mates and we had mixed reactions to this We are all veteran Xwing/Tie/Xwing alliance fans and used to this sort of game and we loved the single player, the immerison is great, PSVR is great (aside from turning off snap motion for hangar controls, that was ropey) and generally we loved the multiplayer. BUT there were some issues - Balance seems way off! certainly in the AI fleet battles, and to a lesser extent the VS battles with actual players. The AI was brutal on easy at times(in fact we saw no difference with Easy or Normal slider), with enemy 'player' AI flying full frottle to you, blasting you then as they pass you, dead stop rotate 180 and act like a turret and blast you to death, seemingly with 100% accuracy . There was one mission where four enemy AI ties basically sat like turrets over our flagship and spawn killed us as we left the hangar, using a combination of weapons fire and ion torpedos, with a gun ship as the 5th 'player' AI mopping up. And weapon Balance felt wrong, in the scenario above, i frequently put full power to my Xwing's weapons, fired until the weapons overheated and an enemy TIE would survive with between 5 and 30% health. Conversely they seemed to have weapons that didn't overheat and/or killed before overheating. Switching to the AutoAim blasters that did less damage but implied considerably better accuracy, did nothing, they hit for sure but seemed to tickle the TIE's. Countermeasures seemed broken at times too, many times I/We would deploy counter measures (early and late) and it would claim to have stopped the torpedo only for said ION torpedo to hit and then the same TIE blow us up under normal fire. Generally these problems seemed exclusive to enemy AI, who seemed to have shorter cooldowns (spamming Ion torpedo's) and no overheat on primary weapons fire and i'm sure TIE aren't meant to have any shields but we encountered some which did. All in all it meant a loss for every AI fleet battle, even with a group of 4 coordinating attacks/ships etc Once we got to level 5 and could play the ranked player battles, the above balance issues were considerably reduced, the only issue being the multi-missile seeming a little overpowered but counterable. We did have one major issue with player Fleet battles - drop outs - not sure if this was intentional or because of possible loss/rage quit, but almost every player vs player fleet battle we entered, but without fail one player left, which throws up a message about not earning points and it being safe to leave, invariably resulting in others leaving. Had a few times when it ended up being incredibly one sided and nobody seems to join in progress matches to fill the void. This could be for one of two reasons - 1. people aren't familiar with the push/pull nature of the fleet battle and the moment the bar at the top showed the enemy pushing past 50% we seemed to loose people, which could imply they don't know how it works and think its a loss so leave. or 2. for the first hour my friend had terrible connection to JUST fleet battles, he would be kicked before the match loaded, which he only fixed with a reboot of his PS4 The lack of Polish to gameplay/AI shows its a budget game, and really did make it feel like DLC for battlefront ripped to be standalone, which is a shame because visually its stunning, the piloting is great and its promise is huge, things easily fixed with a patch
  18. General Movie Thread

I wasn't aware of this, looks like something i'd enjoy
  19. This is where i am at with this too, the last one i loved was Underground 2, I did have hot Persuit and liked it a lot, just not quite as much. Guess i'll add it to the long list of games i'll get when i've time
  20. Gotham Knights (21st October 2022)

The continuity seems all over the place, and really does imply at first to be a continuation of the Arkham Verse, by virtue of the trailer starting with the plot of the very end of Akrham Knight! Its really really odd and i don't see how they didn't realise the confusion it would cause, perhaps not have opened it with that? This i think further reinforced the expectations and rumours that WB were doing a sequel to Knight which then made it fall so hard on fans, when RPG elements showed up and the continuity was out, so i understand how it backfired for fans and left more casual gamers thinking it was an Arkham Game I don't think it helped the confusion that that looked like an Arkham game, where as Suicide Squad which IS actually a continuation of the Arkham series, didn't seem like it was. That said, the game looks great, i like the concept, i like the idea of playing as the other characters and not just batman - who knowing the storyline for the court of owls i'm sure will show up
  21. E̶3̶ ̶2̶0̶2̶0̶

I'm disappointed we didn't get a full page of posts
  22. Paper Mario: The Origami King

There is more than one definition of the word 'gimmick' and whilst i'd expect the ingenious new angle to be in any game, Sticker Star is an abomination and stick to definitions 1a and 3, and completely forgot it was meant to be improve upon prior games Sticker Star is an example of a gimmick for a gimmicks sake, just to market something new, honestly if they couldn't think of anything good that improved the system they should have kept stickers out of the battle system and focused on an actual engaging story - RPG's aren't about mechanics they are about stories, and experiences, something which Sticker Star had very little of either, story, experience or good mechanics Its yet to be seen how the spinning plates work in practice (is there a proper name for it?) but i'd hope its more an ingenious new angle that improves the game.
  23. Paper Mario: The Origami King

I was going to come in here and say i've been burned by Sticker star and well this is almost exactly where i am! I thought Super Paper Mario was bad, but its positively amazing compared to Sticker Star! I just don't know what happened to the series I only hope this is moving in the right direction, not overly keen on the spinning plates battle system, gimmicks turn me off in these games after the fetish for forcing them in and damaging the overall game in others.
  24. What about the nonsense when he qas quizzd on seeing one other person from another household? how do you choose between parents and at first he see one in the morning and the other in the afternoon! So the Virus goes oh shit, he's only seeing one so i won't transmit? Christ its all over the place, i could go to work and stand 2m from a group of work men (all standing two meters from each other) and its fine but we clock out? wooo woo here come the police your breaking the law! Seeing both parents at any time? nope illegal Science isn't driving some of these weird choices and i honestly don't know what is, perhaps they are hoping we are all so confused we stay in our homes in fear
  25. I don't see why they needed to change slogans and word everything how they did The jist of it seems to be nothing has changed, but now the construction industry, some manufacturing industries etc that cannot work from home can return to work IF their employees can safely accommodate it. They are also loosening restrictions on recreational exercise, to remove the sily instances of one bloke sat in a field sunbathing/picnicking being fined. Its still stay at home save the NHS however for some insane reason, we now have stay alert, control the virus, something or other and the Matt Lucas parody statement, which is just all mixed messages and nonsense. The main issue i have is NOW we are quarantining travelers coming in to the country, i honestly thought this was already the case and if not why the hell not? i've seen several pundits on tv interviews saying that many countries already did this at the start and that helps control the virus and that our government seems to have gone the other way and is doing it at the end to prevent a second wave. With nobody really having an explanation why it just couldn't have been in place from the start to the end. Its like they've panicked over how well other countries have done, how bad we've done and how we at some point need to reopen our economy roughly in line with others to avoid an utter depression post brexit and just gone with the fuck it approach let the people leak out of lockdown and we can blame it on them when it goes tits up
