  1. I live in Hemel Hempstead

Yeah I live fairly close too, just outside Amersham and I got woken up. Sounded like a cross between a really loud firework and rumbling thunder from close by. I thought a house on my road had blown up but I checked and couldn't see anything. To all people who can see the smoke from their house, police and goverment officials has asked them to keep all windows and doors closed and to try not to leave the house. Hope everyone is ok, 'specially your uncle Ramar. There is a police casualty hotline if you can't reach them. It's 0800 096 0095. Look after yourselves people. And also this is unlikely to be a terrorist action before anyone starts on about it. The M1 is a busy place but 0600 is not the time to do anything like this. Also the news said that there was maintenance going on and also the local MP said that these things do happen. Not often at all but they can happen.
  2. I have often thought how at the beginning of a gaming generation, a lot of devs get over swayed by the power of the new systems. They make "better" games by using cheap tricks like adding more characters per screen or increasing the pop-up distance. It is usually a very bad time for design. Towards the end of a gen devs know the systems and the power has become standard. Designing better is the only way to out do the competition. Devs are constricted but it forces them to make some awesome work. Nintendo like this, because they like ideas, concepts and design. This can lead to a game having good visuals even if it has bad graphics. You get me? Nintendo taking it's new approach does several things: 1. It makes developing cheap and therefore will attract small dev teams, the ones commonly known to be harbouring great ideas. This could lead to fantastic 3rd party support. 2. It forces the devs to think about game content, rather than getting distracted by new technology. 3. It says NO to the progression into the new generation. Demi generation Nintendo in is. Better to be bought exclusively by a small crowd or to be bought by almost everyone as a second console, or by those non-gamers that look at it and go "Less than £100? I'll give it a whirl..."?
  3. revolution possiblities

Haha! I've done it!!!!! Cracked Miyamoto's mystery I have!!!! The secret is stereoscopic 3D visuals and the secret is in the DS. The Rev uses the DS as its screen. You open your DS, turn it on it's side and hold it against your face. Each eye faces a different screen so they can get reeeeeal 3D!!!
  4. "Hollywood" Graphics Chip Info!

Btw why does everyone keep talking about Metroid Prime 3? I thought that it was clearly stated that that clip was running on GCN hardware?
  5. Revolution Game Concepts

Yep. I have developed my idea a bit further now... From the juggling thing, you could have a whole range of activities that are based around a circus. Lion taming with a whip, various forms of juggling, doing the tight rope or trapese (sp?) with the controller the other way around. There are many more i'm sure. Also you could make a pretty sweet grafitti game i'm sure. That would totally open up jet set radio! Sorry about getting all serious above guys. Just seems that every time a new input device somes along people want to find new ways to try and get themselves off in the virtual world. "Hey look, it rummmbles; where could we put this eh, eh, eh?" or "Cool you can rub the screen! How about a game where you could rub a girl's..." etc. Am I the only one who finds that mentality a little tiring?
  6. Nintendo and the demi-generation

I'll clarify that. To me generations have been defined by technological upgrades. What I'm trying to say is that Nintendo seems to be trying to dispense with that system. I'd prefer it if people described generations "post- (insert game concept)". For instance, 3D gaming post LoZ:OOT. The Z-targetting completely changed everything...
  7. Btw isn't the xbox360 just a "souped up xbox"? If the Rev is too then you can be satisfied. Maybe they were referring to it's functions as a multimedia device? You never know, Matt could havetaken these comments a little out of context...
  8. Revolution Game Concepts

Yep well done there. That testosterone feel good? No, onto subjects that won't get this thread locked...
  9. Thanks mate. I didn't see anyone else trying to inform Dilli that maybe he was over reacting and over posting. I thought I might just give him a chance to stop before he made a tit out of himself. It's a friendly thing to do rather than: "sHuT ^ n00B!" Or would you rather me fill up posts with constructive comments such as your one about how to spell your magical new word "tought" as apposed to "teached".
  10. And where did you read this? Would you say the difference between the Xbox 360 and the GCN is more than the difference between N64 and PS2? Also how do you know just how powerful the PS3 will be? Seen any real games yet?
  11. Revolution Game Concepts

No devs accept game concepts for legal reasons unfortunately.
  12. Rev processor unveiled?

Good call Yen thanks for the info mate. This tech sounds VERY Revo worthy to me. Matches all the comment they have been saying about the quietness and the ability to make it small.
  13. Revolution Game Concepts

Ooooh it sounds like Mickey's Magical Quest all over again. That was a killer game! I can't seem to stop thinking about having two controllers and using them as virtual hands! So many games could come from this... Anybody played B17 Flying Fortress? You could actually do all those controls with your hands. Juggling mini game anyone (ala Donkey Konga)? I'd also like to see a rowing simulator... that could look sweet and the controller really suits it.
  14. To Dilli, Listen mate I know you are entitled to your opinion but could you leave some room for someone else? I've had to trawl through all of your posts and I think you view came across fine the first time.
  15. I found this news a little depressing at first too. Then I realised that this really means nothing. If the deal over the tech specs for the GCN didn't teach you anything then this situation will. Just wait til E3 people. Stop acting like a bunch of cry babies. Just because some "partially breifed" people say a few things doesn't mean anything. We don't know about the GPU or the possibility of extra components to deal with physics or AI (remember this?). This techno-speculation is just time wasting and uninspired cos it's just people voicing their opinion and very little fact or knowledge being passed around. Put your imaginations (or lack of them) to better use and come up with some game ideas. Be creative!
  16. This is Game of the Year

It's all a matter of opinion my friend. How do you know that everyone here has a decent reason to dislike 32 pence eh? Most people have stated that: 1. They think his music bites 2. They think he's a complete tit Good reasons? I think so! For me I wouldn't be that bothered if 32-ey choked on rubber bullets and died...
  17. Revolution making way for VR.

Stocka do you mean the type of 3D that uses alternating images? Cos if you think about it, it has to be at least TV based as they gave that much away during the teaser video... Will alternating image 3D really be that impressive?
  18. revolution graphics

SpinesN it's not like they are in a different league of graphics though. The differences aren't that huge if you put it in some perspective. For instance does it really effect your experience of the game? And your point about cross platform games might be invalid as well due to the fact that the PS2 has always been a slag to program for. You could say that the GCN ports don't run that well sometimes but that's because they are shoddy ports. It's not necessarily a reflection of the machine.
  19. Metriod Prime 3?

Right lets actually throw some ideas around about what the ralistic possibilities could be eh? The has been one running theme through the Prime series and it hasn't appeared anywhere else. Phazon. It's time to find out it's real identity, what it is. I'd like to see a scene where Samus gets to see ghostly glances of her dead parents in the stream of the Phazon source. Put some emotion into the series and beef up Samus' character a bit. Either that or some kind of unifying storyline about the higher races, the groups which the Luminoth and Chozo come from.
  20. Metriod Prime 3?

Yeah but one of the main features of Kraid were those things he used to fire out of his chest.... Don't see those working too well, but your ideas aint too bad. Do you reckon you could have a Ridley fight using the ship? That would kick some serious ass! Air to air combat!
  21. Metriod Prime 3?

Yeah... that was a mistake I think.... but then again doing Kraid in 3D wouldn't work that well.
  22. December 2nd Theories

Hey guys leave Trish alone. If you take it from her point of view, you look fairly hilarious on this forum. She is smart and has a greater grasp on the buisiness behind games than most. You could learn a lot from her.
  23. Metriod Prime 3?

Looks like a shot from MP2 Echoes to me. If i played it a bit more I could probably tell you which part of the game it's from. Reminds me a lot of one of the multiplayer levels. But honestly MP2 does look as good as that. Sure those bars on the left may be photo-shopped but the rest actually doesn't look amazing. Definite fake I say.
  24. Nintendo is right, but you're wrong

I have to make a point about what I said earlier. I don't think it's really devs faults that they don't maximise their potential and the potential of the machines. I think this is far more to do with the money grabbing publishers who often treat their devs like slaves. It's hard ot be creative or to live up to your own standards when you are being hounded by your backers.
