  1. I went out into town yesterday and was already having trouble with common, low CP Pokémon breaking out and running away so if this update has made that worse, I don't know that I'll want to keep playing. I don't want to keep cashing out for Pokéballs. The three steps disappearing is frustrating but if it didn't work in the first place then I guess it doesn't really make a difference.

I have read that the scan radius has decreased from 100m to around 70m as well. Is this true? It means even less chance of finding Pokémon if this is the case and I can't see why they would do that.

After my usual weekend pokéstop stint I can't say I've noticed any real difference in capture success rates. I've definitely noticed you have to throw the balls a lot differently than before the update if you want to hit the Pokémon (at least with curve balls). I don't think they've decreased the scan radius much, if at all.

  3. I did have to pay out for some more pokeballs, well worth it for the amount of time I'm spending on the game though.

Now that I have weekends free I've been walking around nearby pokestops and hanging out to catch more Pokémon. I never would have just gone out for random walks without this game!

My new work colleagues are all playing and it's great being the one with all the Pokémon knowledge. People are actually interested when I talk to them about Pokémon! It's crazy :p

  4. I am a fan of Radiohead although I think their last two albums are hit and miss. The song they did for James Bond's Spectre was fantastic though:

As for the new album, I'm happy to see True Love Waits on there but I think I prefer the original version. On the whole I quite enjoyed the album. It feels closer to their old sound than King of Limbs and In Rainbows.

  5. I wonder how much they'll play with the negative effect this will have had on Jon Snow. I remember when Beric Dondarrion was brought back, he said he loses a bit of himself each time, and you get the impression he normally gets brought back straight away rather than a day later like Jon...

They were both brought back via different methods (although the same general magic/religion/god?) so they could probably go either way with it. I imagine he'll just be a bit spooked at first and sink back into himself. I wasn't expecting the whole ceremony, I wonder what her reasons were for doing it that way rather than just saying the words that Thoros said.

  6. Stadium wasn't a main game. This would be. Game Freak are very protective of the main games and are the only ones who develop them (they consider Colosseum and XD spin-off games)

Yes but this discussion is based around the fantasy that we would be getting a home console game. We all understand that so far we haven't had one yet.

  7. Why couldn't these events just carry on with the previous handheld generation of games? Why would all events have to update and base themselves purely on a random home console version of Pokémon?

A home console Pokémon doesn't have to take the place of the next generation of handheld games. We can have both. When they made the first pokémon stadium game did that stop production of Gold and Silver?

  8. If one of the other guys we merged with wants to take over then I'll go for that and we'll probably carry on as we are. Otherwise I've had a message from someone that runs another league that we can merge with. The first season would be CL format and standard from the following season onwards.

Wanted to ask here first obviously

  9. Makes me feel old...

Thank you to the staff and the members that make this site great. I may not post much any more but I still lurk! I've made some friends for life from this site and I'll always be grateful for that.

  10. Now that you mention it, I hadn't taken her prior fighting skills into consideration. It really did have that Star Wars feel to it and it reminded me so much of episode IV that I just took her to be as naive as Luke was when he started out. I know Ren was injured but he didn't really show much/any of it during the fight - unless it was that weird chest pounding he was doing. We did see that he was bleeding before the fight but you'd think he'd show some actual weakness or at least frustration.

I don't think Finn should have been able to land a hit on Kylo Ren either :p but maybe I was expecting Ren to be worse or more fearsome than he actually was. Or as you say, he just lashes out and leaves himself open because he attacks with raw energy/anger.

  11. Overall I loved it. A nice homage to the original trilogy with some really cool moments.

The first half of the film was brilliant and I can't fault it... it's a long exposition to set up all the characters and where they're all at, but I think once everything is established it tries to do too much.

There's a moment where they literally just discover the 'starkiller' (I think they called it that?) and they instantly have a full diagnostic of it. They bring up a schematic and go 'oh here's the weakspot, destroy the shield then blow it up. Ok let's go!' It's too quick and easy. I can let that go because the following scenes with the x-wings were really awesome but it was all the other stuff that I thought let the film down.

Rey getting her Jedi 'awakening' was good for the first five minutes but they whacked her up to Jedi master so quickly! There's no way she should've been able to last against Kylo Ren, let alone defeat him. Wasn't he supposed to have been trained by Luke? So we can assume he's been using the force for quite some time. When Luke first faced off against Vader he lost his damn hand! I was half expecting her to somehow be Han and Leia's daughter though :p

It's hard to seperate this film from episode IV. All I see is Han in Obi Wan's role, Rey is Luke, Finn is Han and Luke is now Yoda. I'm not really sure if that's a good thing or not. It was a good film but it was basically the same story. It felt more like a remake than a new film.

Criticisms aside, I did really enjoy it - especially all the dogfight/chase scenes.
