I don't know why, but I love this video, the atmosphere is immense
Inarguably the best music video of all time is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTra-FkT1K4&search=i%20want%20it%20that%20way
Unfortunately none of my favourite bands have the funds to make a decent video

Seeing as on other threads (I point no fingers) people seem to have a problem with a healthy debate, I thought that I'd make this thread to discuss power metal, generally a sub genre notorious for it's reputation as being the laughing stock of metal.
So, here you can feel free to declare your undying love/ hate for power metal/ myself. So and go ahead and discuss the advantages/ disadvantages of power metal over other forms of metal, or other music.
Power Metal as defined by wikipedia: In the mid-1980s, European bands such as Helloween (Germany) and Europe (Sweden) put even more attention to the melodic development of the songs. Helloween mixed fast speed metal riffs with melodic ones and added Iron Maiden-like powerful vocals, further cleaning the sound. Their albums Keeper of the Seven Keys, Part 1 (1987) and Keeper of the Seven Keys, Part 2 (1988) are generally regarded as a milestone of this genre. Subsequently, European-style "happy metal" has spread across the continent (particularly to Finland) and worldwide, though it is comparatively unpopular in the United States, United Kingdom and other English speaking countries.
Recently, however, many power metal bands have abandoned the "happy-metal" sound of their predecessors, and have adopted a more epic sound combined with the power metal core. Bands such as Blind Guardian have combined their classic power metal sound with an orchestral background as Rhapsody or Angra have done.
My two cents are that power metal has gained such a shitty rep because of some bands penchant for having cheesy lyrics about Dragons and nordic myth (yes, I'm pointing at you Rhapsody and Manowar) but I for me, lyrics don't detract from the musical virtuosity and emotion that these artists show through their instrumentality, and In my opinion, sounds are much more evocative of emotions than words.
Here are 3 of my favourite Power Metal bands, that you should check out if you're interested:
Blind Guardian: Imo the best power metal band, songs to check out are: "Mordreds Song" "Nightfall" "The Bard's Song" "Theater of Pain" "Hallelujah"
Dragonforce are some of the most talented musicians in history, talent which is arguably wasted on drunken antics. Songs to check out are "Fury of the Storm" "Soldiers of the Wasteland" "Valley of The Damned" "Black Fire" and "Dawn of a New World"
This is their live album, and in my opinion, this is the band that brought me to heavy metal, they're not the best, but they showed me what was possible and that in music there really are no boundaries. They even did an entire concept album based on the spawn comics. Song's to download are "Ghost of Freedom" the live version of "A Question of Heaven" "Angel's Holocaust" "The Hunter" "Dracula"
Although I have a sneaking suspicion that this thread is going to get closed before it takes off, but what the hell here ya are, flame away.

He's right though. Most power metal is shit.
True to an extent, i wouldn't say "most" but I would say "a lot of", the fact of the matter is most musicians or bands in any form of music are shit, there are only a few "diamonds in the rough," amongst any musical genre. But you can't honestly say that Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, Stratovarious etc are shit.

Firstly, I acknowledge rap as being a form of music. I am a huge fan of public enemy. But ICP aren't rap, they aren't music of any kind, they have no credibility, and no integrity whatsoever, they're just a bunch of poseurs that think it's cool to dress up as clowns and make pretend that they actually know something about music. And rl, I can give you a thousand reasons why what you've just said about power metal is a load of bullshit, but that would really be pointless now wouldn't it, seeing as talking bullshit seems to be your specialty. As you were.
-
Ok, listen to the albums, theyre not about "hip hoppin skills", they rap storys, not real life, they use their music as an escape, not as a picture of reality.
To reiterate my first point. It's not music.

I would copyright windmills with blades made out of solar panels. That'd make moi filthy rich.

Yah, I desperately need DBZ, that game looks insane. Also, what would be really very nice would be a new Bloody Roar for Wii, since I doubt it's not going to get very many fighters, and like on the GC, BR kept me occupied for near a year, seriously, it pisses me off, Nintendo's neglect of my fave game genre. I suppose theres always the Virtual Console titles to look forward to though.

Strange, but I don't really care. I was finding Bozon more interesting to read nowadays anyways.
Bozon is ridiculously boring, he may be informative to the general noob, but he has no interesting opinions on anything, Matt is a very intelligent, funny and genuinely interesting guy, and he's pretty much the only reason I go on IGN at all.

I love...Scrubs, making love to my beautateous girl, rum and generally all hard alcohol and metal.
But what I love the most is kicking thebenmasters ass at Tekken 5 and SC2. If you're here ben, why don't you come out and tell everyone what you were forced to say when I whupped your ass 10 nil at both of these games...or should I do that for you? Ok, people, he said "I'm your biatch." Its official, thebenmaster is my biatch.

The fact that he's the size of a 50p coin might be a reason :P.
Klonoa interests me. I enjoyed playing his games.
Yes! Klonoa would rule since he was in one of the 3 best platforming games this gen (Klonoa 2). But he hasn't had a game on the cube. There have been 2 on the GBA though.

Don't you mean "Who here is a jackass?" You see, jackass is an actual word and is much more accurate a description of ICP's general demographic.
lol, didnt realise the quality of music to someone was decided by the media. It's not music. It's a bunch of morons dressed as clowns attempting to talk over a synthesised beat, wit ther "mad hip hoppin skillz, innit, brah "

Meh. Biker Mice from Mars!! teh pwnt0rz.

Heroin can be used for medicinal purposes but I have no idea how. lol. Don't know much about heroin.
Blackfox > How much did he bloody take? lol
Heroin is a depressant, not a stimulant.
Also speed (otherwise known as amphetamine or methamphetamine) is far more effective than LSD (in the form it is bought) 100 micrograms of LSD can get you high, but there are many side undesired affects. Speed gives you a feeling that you can accomplish anything you want to, and gives you a very euphoric feeling for the time that it lasts. It also keeps you awake for time. One pill (depending on constituent dosage) is enough, and only costs £3. So I think, if you're willing to go down that route, speed is for you

Pfft, cash isn't very rare either! Point and touche my friend.

Ha, i remember that one thats from the ep when JD and Elliot become co chief residents (My office).
Here it is:
JD says something along the lines of:
"Why do you hate me when I show you nothing but love??!!"
Dr Cox says,
Relax shirley (im not sure which girls name he uses here) you're chief resident too...
I figure with her being ridiculously book-smart to the point where she has almost no interpersonal skills, and you being warm and cuddly as an un-potty trained labradoodle, and about as useful in high stress medical situations as an un-potty trained labradoodle, together, the two of you make one barely passable doctor/labradoodle....

I'll swap you Jump Superstars for Denki Blocks.

Ahoy there! Shut yer scupper and bare yer steel fer I am captn bubblebeard!
Hi, have fun.
-
I don't know what I'm going to do with my life once scrubs is over! DON'T LEAVE ME ELLIOT!
Aye.
So who thinks it's time to start throwing around a few Dr. Cox quotes?
Here's a few of my favourite:
To JD:
"Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and write you out a prescription for two testicles, and you can feel free to get this filled out whenever you want."
To some guy:
"You are what you eat, and you clearly went out and devoured a big fat guy didn't ya?"
To JD and Turk (I've used this one myself sometimes
)
"No you look! If someone asked me just this morning if I could have had any less respect for you two geniuses, I would have said no, that's not possible, but congratulations, you've managed to pull it off, *searches self* the only problem is that I'm fresh out of blue ribbons, so you're going to have to settle for a lifetimes supply of my foot up your ass."
To JD and Turk, after throwing his computer out of the topmost window of the hospital and almost hitting them:
"Sorry girls. Dropped my computer. Nyeah."
And of course his famous "things I don't care about" speech, which is infact too long to post here.
there are a ton of others, but those come immediately to mind.
Also:
She reminds me of Lark Voorhies (post Saved by the Bell) in that photo.Yah! that show was pretty cool, I think you and I have a similar taste in TV.
Edit:
To JD:
"And in a reciprocal gesture, can I be involved in the organisation of your coming out party?"
Har har.

Yooo, is it just me or does Judy Beyes (Carla) look waay to foxy there....? Hehe, Johnny C on crutches...
As for her languages, that's exactly what I mean..."Ihren frau hat schonen busen" man that moment was so funny...har har...

Yeah, but not only is Sarah Chalke very purdy, she's also a great actor, which is more than anyone can say for Aniston, and several other supporting females in sitcoms.
Off topic: did anyone here actually find The Exorcist scary...? It was an awesome movie, but not even remotely scary, so I was kinda disappointed in that aspect...meh
Power Metal and/ or other music.

Yeah I'm a huge tallica fan, helloween have some killer songs, some of my favourite are "I wan't out" and "I'm Alive," but I never really got into them, I always thought of them as a less professional version of Iron Maiden. You're interested in guitar harmonies? Have you heard any In Flames or Dragonforce? They kinda specialise in that kinda stuff...In Flames are in some ways my favourite band
