  1. I'd very much like:

XIII (my copy broke  )

    Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles

Star Wars:Rebel Strike & Free Demo

    Sonic Mega Collection(Player's Choice)

    Super Monkey Ball 2

    Which are still available?

    Edit: Damn you Katie!

  2. Man, I just rebooted this game on my Snes after about 5-6 years, and I haven't been playing street fighter recently, and now that I come to think of it, it's without a doubt the most perfectly crafted fighting game in existence.

The only problem is that I keep getting my ass handed to me. I use Ken, and can do all of his moves (shoryuken, hadoken, hurricane kicks etc.) very well but I have trouble pulling them off at the right time. I'd like to know if anyone here can help a brother out with some good multiplayer strategies to use etc.

    Mucho Gracias Amigos!

    and:

    Shoryuuuuuken!

  3. If i'm honest, we'll just be going around in circles if everybody doesn't calm down. Fact is, everybody's got their own opinions about certain types of music and they should not be judged by what they listen to.

Yeah, but musical opinion, like every other form of human thought, has to take it's chance in open debate. Only problem is everybody here (myself included) won't stop bickering like kids. Some people here seem to have no reasons for doing what they do and liking what they like, perhaps because they haven't thought about it enough, and that's entirely the problem, people seem to have no problem giving their opinions, but it's not so good when they're asked to justify them.

I mean, who are we to say what's right and what's wrong? Lets cut down on the flaming, yeah?

    I'd like to...but I can't stop...

  4. I think he was just agreeing with what Blackfox said

And all the more retarded for it.

and to be honest, you don't help yourself when you say things like "my god this place is full of retards."

That's fair enough, I don't really think that, I just got a bit pissed off.

  5. Quoted for truth? Truth? You do realise the stupidity of what you've just done don't you? "Just stop flaming others and thinking you're music is godly." Is a "command" and therefore cannot be subject to "truth," neither can "Listen to what you like, I don't give a flying fuck," seeing as it's an opinion. My god this place is full of retards. Honestly, your intellect is an insult to 14 year olds everywhere.

    Scrubs!

    Aye.

I thought Metallica were crap at Download (Donington) this year. I couldnt sit through past two songs. Lars' snare was louder than everything else and James' vocals were being drowned out so much at points (remember this was just two songs). There were problems with sound all the way through the festival though so it may not have been their fault.

Subject to opinion, obviously Metallica aren't gonna kick as much ass as they did circa "...and justice for all" but they sure rule considering all of them are around 45.

  6. Hammett has really influenced my playing as well. He is definitely one of my favourite guitarists. Along with Steve Vai, Hetfield as well (I think what he can play and sing at the same time is sometimes ridiculous!) and yeah Mustaine is pretty damn good too. Marty Friedman (ex Megadeth) is one sweet guitarist as well!

Yup, I'm also a big Hetfield diciple, he has the most unique and one of the best voices in metal. I'm a big fan of the time signiture changes that are characteristic of his playing, like in the intro to one, and towards the end of Harvester. He truly knows how to construct a bangin, classic song.

He speaks the truth. Sadly, The Bard is a hypocrite :)

Sadly, seeing as you don't know me in the least, I don't think you're licensed to comment on what I may or may not be, especially seeing as you have no evidence to back up your claim. Go on, give me an instance of my hypocracy and I'll gladly grant you 3 wishes.

And excuse me if I don't have a whole load of respect for someone who starts threads on "juggalos" (known more commonly as "jackasses") and states "smokin dope" as one of his "interests."

Still, you've yet again mistaken me for someone who actually gives a crap about what you think (but don't worry, it happens all the time).

    (and now for a quote)

Although, don't get me wrong, the fact that it annoys you is the true definition of an added perk, you can look it up in the dictionary, it's under "P" just like "pain in the ass" and curiously enough, your picture's right next to it.

  7. Yeah it was the first time they played TGTF in ireland and HOLY COW!! it was amazing live!

Hammett isnt the most virtuosic of guitarists. Most of his solos are they sames stuff rehashed in another key, and a slightly different pentatonic. He is by no means shite tho!

I think it's quite sad how people think he's shite (mostly uninformed people who think playing like Michael Angelo Batio is all there is to guitar). I think he's one of the hardest working guitarists out there, and he's not acknowledged by the right people (santana likes him though, and that's reason enough for me). His solo's for me were so perfect and fitting and he really influenced my playing, I mean, he did make use of pentatonics, but he also tried to explore some different modes. On top of that, he's quite inventive, and has certainly come up with some of the most memorable guitar solo's of all time. I'd say he comes from the same school of guitar as Slash.

Who are your fave guitarists? I'm currently lining up behind Mustaine and Laiho.

I've heard rumours of Megadeth playing next year!: peace:

Really? That should be cool, but what I'm really hoping is for Mustaine to bring gigantour over to europe, from what I've heard, it's the greatest music festival of all time.

  8. You're into Opeth? Wow, cool, they're fantastic, they're coming to Manchester actually in November (I think).

It's wierd, I didn't like S&M album at all, it only had a few of their classics, and was mostly full of rubbish from Load and Reload. The New song "No Leaf Clover" though, was brilliant. It was very nice to hear Call of Ktulu with an Orchestra though.

  9. I love sitting in darkness in front of a fire and just watching the flame.

I also love cat's and the way that when you're watching a movie or sitting out in the sun, they'll come and sit on your lap and fall asleep.

  10. The god that failed? Really? It doesn't particularly strike me as a classic tallica song, but yeah, I agree on the other two.

Oh yeah, have you heard the guitar solo on My friend of Misery? Holy crap, I got so addicted to that when I first heard it, it's one of the most awesome Hammet solo's ever.

It would have been nice to have Megadeth playing this year, on the same day...

  11. Aye, I did, It was not quite what I was expecting though, It was wierd because I only went for that one day, because I had exams the day after. Hetfield and co were fantastic, Hetfield's voice seems to have lost some of it's power and menace though. The Master of Puppets thing was a surprise, even though I was hoping it would happen...Highlights for me were:

    Disposable Heroes

    Orion

    One

and Die Die my Darling...for obvious reasons....

I was kinda hoping they would play Harvester of Sorrow though, because it's my fave live metallica song, but still, it was a killer show...

  12. Listen to what you like, I don't give a flying fuck. Just stop flaming others and thinking you're music is godly.

Firstly, I'll think whatever the fuck I want to.

Secondly since when have I flamed anyone that's said something rational and understandable and not along the lines of "OMG U SuX0R, EmO Es Teh OWNZ0RZ MY PWNZ0RZ N GIV ME A B0NEZ0RZ!!!? I haven't, but if I have, kindly tell me where and I will gladly go dance naked on dimebags grave.

You have yet to say anything about music, so it seems you are here just to antagonise me. I created this thread for the sake of rational discussion, and thats the way I'd like for it to continue.

  13. That's a very open minded attitude, isn't it? Way to go on starting a topic because people think your musical tastes are shit, and then saying other people's musical tastes are shit.

It has nothing to do with being open minded, I'm one of the most open minded people I know, I can give anything a try without any preconceptions, but the thing is, I've already listened to emo, and it's a shallow, mindless fad. I didn't start this topic because people think my musical tastes are shit, you're placing too much importance on the idea that I actually give two shits about what people think of me/ my musical tastes. I created this thread because everytime I started to argue my point, the thread got closed, which is something that frustrates me about the R-E forums in particular, the mods and admins seem to have a very hostile attitude towards an open discussion. After all, what's a forum for if you can't talk freely?

The problem with people here is that they talk with an open mouth, but a closed mind, just take a look at some of the comments here! And I talk so opinionatedly because I have been listening to and playing music since I was five, I've seen a lot of thing's come and go, Grunge, Nu Metal, etc, but the music I listen to has stayed constant, because it's played for the music itself, not as a way to make fast money, and I'm not just talking about Metal here, there are a great deal of very "true" (as I like to call them) musicians that have stood the test of time, like Ginger and Bad Religion. I don't take kindly to some young punk on a forum that only started to acknowledge the existance of music at 14, who then comes and tells me that what I listen to is shit. Fuck that, if you are truly passionate about the music you listen to and love, then you should be as opinionated as I am and be able to tell me why what you listen to is worth my time.

  14. Yeah, I do kind of like Stone Sour, Bother is one of the only songs I can actually play and sing at the same time, it's prolly one of their best songs, it summed up my emotions perfectly when I was going through a rough patch. I haven't heard the new one....link?

Edit: You know who are amazing? Sonata Arctica, although they do take the prize for worst lyrics of all time. Wolf and Raven has a pretty beastly intro.

  15. Yah, it's wierd, I don't realise I'm doing it.::shrug: but the thing is, I always give a reason for my opinion

To be honest, that just sounds like emo music. Not the good kind of early nineties emo though, I'm talking about the recent stuff.

That's a load of crap, metal has always been about war and other such topics, emo is not, and has never been, most emo has pretty much the same lyrical depth as most pop. If you can tell me about a single emo band that has similar lyrics to Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer or Deicide for example, well I will go and piss over Cliff Burton's grave.

  16. I just tried to give some of your suggestions a listen on iTunes, The Bard, but I... just can't. Listening to them yodelling on just made me burst out laughing.

I'm not saying it's bad, or that the bands are talentless: I can appreciate that I could never do what they're doing, and I'm sure they're doing it fantastically. The style just doesn't mesh with the type of person I am, I think — the '80s and I have never really got on.

Really? What ones did you try? I'm guessing it was Blind Guardian though, yeah not many can "get" Hansi's voice to start off with, but if you listen to it without any preconcieved notions, i swear to god it'll grow on you, just ask Mundi...

You asked for opinions, so I gave one. Continue to flame me if you like, but you're just going to get the thread locked.

Can you validate your opinion? If so go ahead, if not, kindly sit down and have yourself a nice cup of shut the hell up!

  17. Nah, power metal is shit.

I'm sorry but you're mistaking me for someone who actually gives a crap about your opinion. Quite apart from wasting my valuable bandwidth by having to download your 2kb of worthless text, you seem to have forgotten that this place is full of people who think powermetal is teh sex, and the terms on which I created this thread is that people give a valid reason for their opinion or leave, and since I honestly doubt you have the intelligence to do either, I'm going to let this go, but it would just be superdeduper if you could stop being a dislikeable **** now wouldn't it?

  18. Yeah, on the lyrical front, it's not just opinion, it's fact that metal has produced some of the worlds greatest lyricists, such as James Hetfield, Mikael Akerfeldt, Dave Mustaine (also known as god), Matt Barlow etc...

As for them being angry, that's one of the reasons some subgenres of metal, such as thrash are so gratifying to listen to, they tackle real world issues with a depth and meaningfulness that you don't get in pop music (usually) For example, take metallica's four most renowned ballads, Sanitarium is about Mental illness from the viewpoint of the person afflicted by the illness, Fade to Black is about suicide, One is probably the greatest war epic of all time, about a young man who has gone to war and returned worse than dead, and only Nothing Else matters is an unabashed love song, and it is so much more honest and heartfelt than anything I've heard before or since on the same subject.

I think power metal is hated so much becuase it has more a pop way of approaching lyrics, that aren't about anything serious, just about having a good time, which tbh there is nothing wrong with.

If there is anyone here who thinks that power metal is all there is to metal, it's not at all. If you want to see what real metal is, heres what I reccomend to you:

    B00002605V.08._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

Metallica, the biggest band on the planet. Songs to download are "Nothing Else Matters" "One" "Harvester of Sorrow" "Blackened" "Orion (Instrumental)" "For Whom The Bell tolls", in fact, you can't go wrong with anything from their first 5 albums.

there are others, but im in a lazy mood, so if you want to know, just post something indicating and ill give you some more suggestions.

I also have tickets for Dragonforce's manchester show on the second strike tour. They were seriously the best live band ever when i saw them last at academy 2 me and my mates lost our voices after singing along to all of black fire :heh:, hopefully they'll be able to play the apollo this time.

  19. Dream recorder.

Funnily enough, it's already been done to some extent, and I kid you not. A conducting pad is attatched directly above the frontal lobe, and electrical signals within your brain are measured and recorded. Certain frequencies are associated with certain feelings or events, so these can be linked to certain keywords. You never really forget dreams, they are embedded in your subconscious (which is why you have the same dream more than once), so when these keywords are spoken they act as stimulus to make you remember the dream. It's not very accurate, but it's been known to work although I doubt it's what you had in mind ::shrug:
