  1. Can't stop listening to this. The guitar interlude is one of the most beautiful passages I've ever heard.
  2. Virtual Reality

This will be the first thing I play when I get a Rift
  3. Recordstore day 2014

I'm going too, need to get me some Marvin Gaye records.
  4. Assassin's Creed Unity

Black Flag looks sublime, and that had the burden of cross-gen to bear (hurr), so I have no doubts that this is going to destroy my retinas.
  5. Recordstore day 2014

Vinyl is great for a lot of music but it's contentious to say that it's universally the best medium for music. It's more like the equivalent of switching to the neck pickup on your guitar, whereas high quality digital music would correspond to the bridge pickup; the spectrum of the sound in the former is a little bit more muted and a little softer, but technically not "better" in the slightest. If I'm listening to motown or jazz, I'll want to have it on record. If I'm in the mood for breakcore or house I'll definitely prefer digital audio. The whole experience of Vinyl is something special though. The art is blown up to its intended size and there's a sense of commitment when you put in a vinyl, because you're more obliged to sit through the entire album as a cogent experience than you are with a digital track on your phone which you can just easily change or queue into any given sequence. Vinyl is a way for artists to fulfill an auteur vision, it makes music a more linear and involved experience.
  6. bad stuff thread.

Just had to spend twenty minutes explaining to a guy that what Sherlock Holmes does is never deduction, it's usually enumerative induction and if you're lucky abduction. But he was all like "yeah science nngghh"
  7. good stuff thread.

I'm high as a chimchooree and I've got a 9am tomorrow morning yeehaw
  8. Yeah that's pretty normal. Don't overthink it, people go through rough times, they get stressed out and irritable. I remember getting fucked off at life and letting it out on my family plenty of times, the fact that you argue with your lady from time to time means nothing more than you're at peace around each another not to put on a dog and pony show, or to pretend you're fine when you're not. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't be all like Yo chill the FUCK out.
  9. Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag

Every time James Kidd came on screen I yelled "You know nothing Jon Snow" in the worlds most annoying Macclesfield accent.
  10. TitanFall (Xbox One/360/PC)

Got this on PC, any of you fancy jumping on, give me a shout!
  11. Professor Layton VS Phoenix Wright (March 28)

Nice review. Apart from the misplaced possessive apostrophe in the first sentence . Edit: also, I think there's a missing clause in the last sentence of the first paragraph.
  12. bad stuff thread.

I left my first 3DS on a train from London to Manchester. The day after it came out. Chin up
  13. good stuff thread.

Amazing. Heard about something like this on Idle Thumbs in San Francisco, was hoping a version of it would come to London
  14. good stuff thread.

Where is this exactly? Is it something set up by UCL?
  15. bad stuff thread.

Been really sleep deprived for the last few days and can't concentrate for shit. Wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have a presentation to do on Natural Kinds for my Philosophy of Science class.
  16. I didn't; I figured that they'd have to try their hand at a 3D version of one of their most loved franchises some time or another. What I didn't think it would mean was that they'd totally jettison Igarashi's versions.
  17. That's my current girlfriend not my ex, you silly pillock. The morning after that I threw up in a trash bag at King's Cross.
  18. This is all hilarious. Fuck, the night I asked my uni girlfriend out I was wearing nothing but a bedsheet and a pair of boxer shorts.
  19. Well this pretty much means that Castlevania as a franchise is over. Here's hoping his next venture is a two dimensional platforming adventure in which you level your character, acquire weapons and skills and is set in an architecturally quaint and curious Gothic castle with 16-bit renderings of neo-baroque music. I'd kickstart the fuck out of that.
  20. The part in the second Layton game where you have to blow into the microphone to solve the puzzle. Shit literally blew me away!
  21. Dark Souls II

Yeah the problem is pretty much that I'm lazy and can't be bothered concentrating on actually playing the game for long stretches of time. I get distracted think "ooh that's a curious piece of geometry" and before I know it I'm dead, at which point I immediately quit out instead of trying again after adjusting my play. That doesn't mean it doesn't have some obtuse design decisions, but I should give it another go. It could be a pretty game too if it wasn't so uneven, how does the second one look? I'm convinced the only thing in this game's design document was an A4 print out of trollface.
  22. Dark Souls II

I like the game, I loved the first 20 hours or so, but then got distracted with other things, mostly work. It's a difficult game to go back to, I feel like you have to build up a certain level of momentum to understand how it works. I also quite like the way it tweaks my anger when it fucks me over. Also a lot of people have said that Sen's Fortress is a bit of a spike in difficulty, so that's probably the problem. Didn't have a problem up until this point.
  23. TitanFall (Xbox One/360/PC)

    I only have a PC.
  24. Dark Souls II

It's patently not supposed to be how gaming should be though, because there's something wrong with your description. An analogy would be a game like Resident Evil where you have the dogs jump through the window, but instead of it utilising that moment once and moving on, satisfied with its one cheap shot, it keeps luring your round corners and knocking the vase out of your hand. The vase in this metaphor is your time, patience and thinly strung sense of masculinity. I just got past all the super super shitty swinging doodads and the unnecessarily cheap floor panel traps which are almost always in long, constricted corridors at the end of which is an enemy blocking your path, so on the off chance you manage not to trigger it, the guy with the fucking snakehead is inevitably going to force you back down right onto the trap that you so gracefully elided. Once you fucking finish that through furiously frustrating and shittily signposted trial and error, you duck your head out onto the roof of the place only to be shitcanned by some troll throwing flaming barrels that somehow set the limestone on fire and send you right fucking back to the bonfire to try that shit again. There's something great about this game, but by fuck does it use one hand to lay the trail of breadcrumbs, while the other waits like a springtrapped boxing glove, ready to sock you in the cock. Edit: Sorry I'm harshing your mellow gaiz.
  25. Job woes/wins

So my dad's bankrolled my Master's with the end of getting me a job in mind, but I've literally no idea where to start looking, what to do, or whether I even want a job. I can't imagine having to deal with, like, people, on a day to day basis.
