  1. The "Rez" Report

Happy birthday, ReZ. ... Does yours?
  2. Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure

Cube be trollin'. To be fair, there is quite a bit of platforming in the Uncharted games (more so in the second game) and both series are clearly inspired quite a bit by movies like Indiana Jones. But yeah, overall they're pretty different.
  3. Comic Book Discussion

Reading single issues is like watching a TV show and waiting a month between act breaks.
  4. Great Games You Struggle To Enjoy?

The only thing I remember about the last hours of Okami is having to fight four bosses again (including the big bad for a third time) before finally being allowed to fight the last boss and beating the game. It did have some great moments, though, which is why I'd considering giving it a second chance if it weren't so long. I played Sunshine before 64 and wasn't too keen on it and gave up after a while. I picked it up again a couple of years later and loved it, though. It has its problems (and you just have to live with the graphics), but overall I think it has more varied and inventive levels. The trick to playing older games is putting them into the context of when they were made instead of comparing them to newer games.
  5. Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure

I can't get over how ugly Spyro looks. But yeah, there's almost zero chance that this will be worthwhile.
  6. Great Games You Struggle To Enjoy?

I'm not sure what the readers of GamesRadar have against Bioshock. Now, Bioshock 2, on the other hand... My picks (discounting genres that don't appeal to me, like racing games or any shooter released this generation): Okami - I enjoyed this for the first ten hours, then I beat the big bad and for some reason the game dragged on for another twenty hours after that. I'd give it another chance, but it was so long. Super Mario Land - I'm chalking people's love for this game up to nostalgia. It looks awful and plays even worse. The music is kind of nice, though. Donkey Kong Country - Again, the music is kind of nice, but the gameplay is dull and often unfair, and I hate the plastic-looking graphics. I just can't get into this series. Super Paper Mario - This isn't an RPG, so it shouldn't even be a part of the Paper Mario series. As a platformer, it fails because it's so slow and boring. Switching between 2D and 3D becomes repetitive after the first world, and constantly having to play as Mario so that you can switch perspectives makes the inclusion of the other characters nearly completely pointless. Puzzle Quest - I'm not a big fan of Bejeweled so buying this was a mistake to begin with, but I was amazed by how bad the RPG aspect was. No story, no characters, no point. Also, I agree on anything Sonic or Halo (the third game was okay, though).
  7. Ghost Trick

Good idea to play a bad game before playing Ghost Trick. That will make it seem even more amazing!
  8. Name That Game: 2011 Edition

All of these guesses are correct:
  9. Name That Game: 2011 Edition

Those guesses make perfect sense, but I'm afraid both of them are wrong.
  10. Name That Game: 2011 Edition

    By popular demand (Dyson's popular, right?), here's the next round: It looks a bit wonky, but I wanted to get this up before going to bed. 013 Heavy Rain - Dog-amoto +1 014 Anachronox - Dog-amoto +1 015 Picross 3D - RedShell +1 016 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors - Ronnie +1 017 Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness - Cube +1 018 Baldur's Gate 2 - Deathborn +1 019 Garfield: The Search for Pooky - Jonnas +1 020 Ufouria: The Saga - Jonnas +1 021 Yakuza 3 - Olly +1 022 The Operative: No One Lives Forever - Dog-amoto +1 023 Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep - Deathborn +1 024 Beyond Good and Evil - / nando / +1
  11. Name That Game: 2011 Edition

Aw, man. I was hoping to win first and second place this month.
  12. Questions

You need a hundred posts before you can thank people. *Speaking from experience*
  13. Internet Videogame shows?

It's not his opinions that turn me off. I usually agree with him (granted, I haven't watched many of his videos because I'm not a big fan), but most of what he says is just so obvious that I don't get anything out of watching his videos. He's just preaching to the choir. The people who watch his videos are the kind of hardcore gamers who already know all about sexism in video games and the effects of piracy, and the people who don't aren't likely to watch his videos anyway. I agree that Zero Punctuation can get repetitive sometimes, but at least he challenges his viewers a bit when he brings up issues in popular games. I don't always agree with his conclusions, but he usually has a point. Extra Credits has a habit of putting games up a pedestal. I haven't watched his Missile Commando video, but I imagine that it's a lot like his Persona 4 one in that he's probably projecting and reading way too much into the game with the goal of making a point about how games are art. It doesn't surprise me that he doesn't know a lot about Wii games, as he seems to be the kind of person who puts story and characters over gameplay, as it's harder to draw parallels between games and books/movies based on how good the gameplay is. Anyway, that's just my opinion. I can understand wanting to watch something positive once in a while.
  14. DIAGEO BIRTHDAY HAPPY

I'm the one who should be crying.
  15. Internet Videogame shows?

I find the Extra Credits guy too dry and boring. Most of what he says is really obvious if you read a lot about video games. There should be more diversity in video games? Well, duh. At least with Zero Punctuation and the like there's humor to be entertained by. Plus his episode about sexual diversity was just weird if you've played Persona 4. He claims that Kanji is clearly gay, but I didn't come to that conclusion when I played the game at all (based on him having a crush on Naoto, getting a nosebleed when he sees the girls in bikinis, among other things). And Naoto being transgendered? That's some subtle writing if that's the case, because all I got from her was that she dressed as a boy so that people would take her more seriously. I mean, he claims that it's less subtle in the Japanese version, but he doesn't seem to have played it. Having played the English version, I can't follow his logic at all (but God help anyone who disagrees with his conclusions on the Escapist forums).
  16. The Club wishes you a Happy Birthday

Haha, my first thought was "who?". Happy birthday to Dazz's BFF. :p
  17. DIAGEO BIRTHDAY HAPPY

Happy birthday to my favorite member. More like new to the internet, apparently.
  18. Guitar Hero Franchise Axed?!

Guess they finally milked the cow dry. It's unfortunate for the people who lost their jobs, but I can't say I'll miss the franchise.
  19. Rollercoaster Thread

I don't think I've ridden a roller coaster in nearly a decade. This thread is depressing.
  20. Comic Book Discussion

They look so happy about finally being free of Johnny.
  21. PlayStation 3 Console Discussion

I never bothered checking out 'Splosion Man because The Maw wasn't very good, but Explodemon looks pretty good. I certainly prefer the look of the game over 'Splosion Man, anyway. Why buy the real Mona Lisa when you can get a forgery at a fraction of the cost?
  22. Name That Game: 2011 Edition

5 is Rad Mobile and the movie is Encino Man/California Man. 3 is Rock Band and the movie is Paul Blart: Mall Cop.
  23. good stuff thread.

Man, all of your friends keep falling in love with you/telling you that they love you. There's something about Daft.
  24. bad stuff thread.

At twenty-four pages, it's certainly going to be a bad thing to whoever's going to have to read it, at least.
