Yeah I kinda expected as much on that.

You analytics and statistics definitely tickles my dick tho(and you'll have just been invited into my top sekrit sekrit binary society elsewhere) - what sorta shit do you do??

I’m working as an analytics manager for Defence Equipment & Support. It’s a branch for the MoD. My team builds reports for the finance area of DE&S. We are given data from different areas (Navy, Airforce etc) which again in itself has different content (operating expenditures, program cost reviews etc) and we build the ETL process to house the data in our trusted data warehouse, then we model the data following kimball methodology and finally build reports / create KPIs we think might be relevant to the areas. They’ll have requirements they want to see, but we also have freedom to explore the data and try to output what we think might be valuable information to them.

It’s really fascinating data we’re provided, but given the content, can’t really tell you more than that haha.

  2. Legitimate question, probably more so aimed at Off Topic than gaming side. Can threads be created for new events happening in the world? Reason I ask is newsworthy things seem to be missing in off topic (unless there’s posts in a master thread I’ve missed). Example being Kyle Rittenhouse (unless that’s not worthy of an official thread here which i’d not disagree with whatsoever, but it’s kinda a bit of a conversational piece globally at the moment)

lol, you could just reached out to Ashley or Me(who would've just reached out to Ashley or Cube) and seen if you coulda get a reset :p

I presumed you were just one of the some who slowly drifted/moved away from the place - and iirc you had started writing on your site elsewhere and I presumed that just took your gaming focus alongside life and the family!

Big up to your dad tings tho - I was actually thinking about MadDog recently and maybe getting another(and i wont lie maybe last) proper meetup sorted - but like in advance of NOW for next year cos we're all supposedly proper adults now(not me ive been outta work since before covid and had an annoying run of health so im a bum now lol).

Writing for a site elsewhere went well for a while, but bills resulted in knuckling down hard career wise. So Analytics and Statistics is my bag now. I still dip my toes into GSRR but, kid and career sadly (weird way to look at it) came first.

  4. Took a flexi day on Friday and went to the cinema without wife or toddler to enjoy Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

I’m glad that they completely disregarded the 2016 film. I’m also very happy with their respectful acknowledgment of Harold Ramis. The final 15 minutes got me good.

  5. Good stuff? I remembered my credentials for this site after a long long time away from it. Oh, no my dad got discharged from hospital today “cancer free” after a rough rough time (Covid + Cancer can both suck a bag of cocks)

  6. What an awesome awesome weekend EGX was. Business and pleasure.

We got to cut queues for games, got to avoid queuing up with civvies to get in, got interviewed after playing Halo and will feature on a reel of feedback on their site. Got interviewed for 1001up.com and tagged in whatrhinosaid.com.

We scheduled a meetup with the staff from the board game section before EGX as they contacted us with regards to if we'd review board games on our site. So spent 3 hours playing games with them on Thursday night. They liked our EGX summary we did after the weekend so are officially in business with us sending us games to keep and review.

Got front row seats to the Yohsida Q&A which was incredible. Such an awesome weekend. Gang Beasts was incredible, probably the highlight of it all. CupHead was also a massive surprise.

If anyone was interested in our summaries we split them up into the 3 days we were there.

    Day 1 - http://geeksleeprinserepeat.com/2015/09/29/egx-2015-day-1/

    Day 2 - http://geeksleeprinserepeat.com/2015/09/30/egx-2015-day-2/

    Day 3 - http://geeksleeprinserepeat.com/2015/10/01/egx-2015-day-3/

  7. I decided to have another go at it this morning, and was finally able to pass Mission 45.

Had to make use of the chicken hat for the first time though...

...but not the ordinary chicken hat. Although I did try using that a few times too, I found it actually made the mission even more difficult, because the enemies would just attack Quiet more and the "invisibility" was still quite limited, so eventually they'd end up attacking me like before.

    :indeed:

But the game then offered me the choice of using the lil' chicken hat, a more effective version that actually makes you completely invisible! :o Well, until you fire your weapon. But yeah, using that I just ran up to most of the tanks and Fulton extracted them. :heh:

It's a shame I had to end up clearing the mission in this way, but I literally had no choice, and certainly gave it a good go beforehand. It's also good to know that the game does eventually provide a way to get out of that situation, even if it takes way too long to make the option available for my liking.

Anyway, will check out mission 46 tonight (hopefully there's no bullshit in that one) and finally get to see the real ending of the game.

Exactly the same way I had to check that mission of the completed list. I was equally as blown away as you at the revelation of

    Little Chicken Hat

Helped massively though and yeah Fulton extracted the tanks away with that on.

  8. So I've been dabbling back on GTAV since completing MGSV. I was aware that you could hold circle or B to enable action camera view, but had no idea that if you clicked the analogue stick down it enabled slow motion. This blew my mind.

So naturally I went to Sandy Shores and found a buggy. Switched to action view and went to slow motion. From here I just drove around aimlessly in the desert. Getting air, hitting animals, smashing the car up, causing havoc all in slow mo goodness.

I was papping away at the share button and these 2 pictures looked pretty good so thought I'd enter this thread for the first time.

  9. And another one down. Completed Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Completed it a while back, but not been here for a little while.

So I didn't redo any of the missions with the new difficulty spikes. I just stuck to story missions and side ops when available and just did loads of side ops to unlock new story missions.

Quiet Goodbye - Holy fuck. That was ridiculous. I was getting so fucking frustrated. I ended up completing it with the baby chick hat on. There was so much swearing and rage while playing that level.

Then the final mission was really random redoing the prologue mission again. Pretty cool though.

Enjoyed the game alot, but the 2nd chapter did feel really weird. Is it true that the Kojima split with Konami effected chapter 2's pacing and progression?

Either way really awesome experience and I actually would say my GoTY for 2015 so far. But there's a lot left to come out.

Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag (PS4)

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (PS4)

The Last of Us Remastered (PS4)

    Thief (PS4)

    Valiant Hearts (PS4)

    Abe's Oddysee: New N Tasty (PS4)

    Far Cry 4 (PS4)

The Walking Dead Season 1 & 400 Days DLC (PS4)

    Never Alone (PS4)

    The Unfinished Swan (PS4)

The Walking Dead Season 2 (PS4)

    The Witcher: Wild Hunt (PS4)

    Batman Arkham Knight (PS4)

Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD (WiiU)

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

  10. I was given a copy of Destiny from someone at work who bought it a year ago, then bought the legendary edition (i think) that came with Taken King and all the DLC.

So he gave me the vanilla Destiny disc.

I said I'd never get into it. I wanted to avoid it, but for free I'm not going to pass it up.

I don't have PS+ so I'm only playing single player at the moment and just hit level 8.

Not entirely convinced by it so far to be honest. I'm already finding some of the single player missions repetitive. Go here, fight these enemies then hold out while Ghost does some stuff with something and fight off 2 to 3 drop ships of enemies then level ends.

I guess the Destiny experience is all about the online side though with raids and such?

  11. Wonder if it was a mistake, they're £50 now. Do we know if these are a limited run? I don't really need one but I'm a sucker for limited editions and the battery life on my original black one is atrocious....

Could have been, I just checked my confirmation and I've been charged £38 fortunately. Arriving today apparently. Happy with that.

  12. There's a set number of missions that need to be finished before the main ones unlock. Just continue to do regular side missions. Apparently you can redo any quick and easy missions to get the ones you need to unlock, as well.

Is your bond level max with Quiet?

Yeah got the bond with her to max. I guess I've just got to keep finishing side ops then.

Read so many different things like you need mother base fully upgraded, need to have x number of completed developments.

Hopefully it's as you say and triggered by a mission completion count.

  13. So I think I've broken MGSV.

So I've not replayed any missions in chapter 2 as I assume i don't need to. I've completed:

    32-To Know Too Much

    38-Extraordinary

    41-Proxy War Without End

    43-Shining Lights, Even in Death

And all the important side ops apart from 150 which isnt unlocking, and missions 45 and 46 aren't unlocking either.

I've listened to all the tapes, done so many side ops. Granted I've not done any of the repeat missions yet, but genuinely can't be bothered. Was hoping I could get by with side ops and new main missions. Oh and I don't have a butterfly on my emblem either?

  14. Apologies if it's already been answered. But I've just completed mission 31 (which holy shit had my adrenaline pumping).

At the end of the chaos, there's lots of cut scenes and then...

    Credits

I then get a trailer for chapter 2 which looks great. I go to my missions and 2 of them are repeats of missions I've done already but with difficulty spikes.

There was one new mission I hadn't done. Now, do I have to re-do missions? I've read that if complete the one missions I've not done yet, that should unlock more new missions and I shouldn't need to re-do old ones with the difficulty spike.

I loved the game thus far, but don't really want to re-do missions again. I'm hoping by doing the 1 new mission it'll open up more new missions and I can get by and progress without doing old missions again.

  15. Well we had a chat and as been mentioned on here, yes the implant can be removed relatively hassle free. It turns out that as of late the pill has been causing my wife to have stomach aches and just genuinely not feeling fully fit. Again to show how naive I am about all this apparently the pill can have numerous different effects on different woman and they can change throughout the duration of taking the pill. Aslong as I've been with her she's been on the pill and fine. But the last few months worth have had her feeling less energetic and not 100%.

She had been looking at it as her pill routine was finishing and weighed up the pros about ease and hoped it'd stop any pains.

That's why she went with it. No intent on preventing a family in the future, just a change of contraception in the hope that stomach pains go.

So perhaps an overreaction on my part when I was told while drunk, but I guess I'd liked to have known if she was hurting and that's what made her choose. She did say that it's not a 3 year fix, but just a new and less painful way hopefully.

Unfortunately I wasn't in the greatest of states to discuss it all with her last night and she went to bed while I watched tv downstairs without the real reasoning behind it coming out till today. Again probably my fault as overreacting to it while drunk.

  16. When I'm 30 she will be 27, so perhaps that's on her mind that she isn't ready for that stage next. I appreciate its her body of course and have no objections at all to what she does in that respect.

It's more so that I believed that we had discussed that next year once I hit 30, we were both in for it, but I guess not. I would have liked to discuss that form of contraception first ideally. I wouldn't have objected but would like to have known that she had that idea on her mind.
