The Collector's Edition is expensive but in person it's really high quality. The way everything is packaged and displayed is lovely. Pins and the metallic poster are great and the art book is much bigger than I was expecting. Seeing it in person I'd have said £110 is about right. Plus the Nintendo Store throw in a couple of extras for free on top of that anyway.

The Collector's Edition from the Nintendo store comes with a couple of extra bits so the box is enormous! I appreciate the packaging art though...

Just now, Dcubed said:You know that the game doesn't load the entire world in one go right? It having a larger map doesn't really increase processing load in of itself.
I realise the every branch on a tree on a sky island doesn't load when you're on the surface, but the game is more technically demanding. That's fact.

I know first party publishers have things a little easier because they can QA and typically release games whenever they want, but this quote from IGN:
QuoteI saw essentially no bugs in over 100 hours.
is remarkable, especially given the game is such a complex sandbox. Absolutely insane. Quite a contrast to other big releases this gen.
Best developers on the planet.

Breath of the Wild had one overworld. Tears has floating sky islands everywhere and build-anything construction kits. You're being disingenuous. It's a much more technically demanding game.

Reviews are coming in. Metacritic is currently broken, but it was at 97 last I checked. Same as BOTW. Masterpiece confirmed.
QuoteIt's a glorious, triumphant sequel to one of the best video games of all time; absolute unfiltered bliss to lose yourself in for hundreds of hours. We can't wait to see what the world will do with the game.

Nintendo LifeQuoteThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an unfathomable follow-up to one of the greatest games ever made, somehow improving upon it in nearly every way. Nintendo has followed up a triumph with a triumph, expanding and evolving a world that already felt full beyond expectation and raising the bar ever higher into the clouds.
10/10
IGNQuoteZelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a canvas for your own creativity, a book to write your own stories, a world to create your own legends. It gives you back as much as you put into it, and beckons you to soar, burrow, engineer, solve, adventure, and explore.

GamespotQuoteI don’t know how, but Nintendo managed to follow a straight-up masterpiece with something bigger, better, and smarter. I genuinely feel bad for every other video game that has to be released in 2023.

Gaming BibleQuoteIt’s phenomenal, of course. Does Nintendo’s much-hyped sequel to the extraordinary Breath of the Wild live up to the dizzying heights of its predecessor? Yes, somehow, and more beyond.

TelegraphQuoteTears Of The Kingdom effortlessly dances between the epic and the ridiculous - and every single moment in this vast, gorgeous playground will be completely unique to each player. I don’t know how, but Nintendo managed to follow a straight-up masterpiece with something bigger, better, and smarter.

GuardianQuoteTears of the Kingdom is a monumental achievement, and it's going to be talked about relentlessly for years to come.

ScreenRantQuoteThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of Kingdom might just end up being one of the best games ever made, with unparalleled exploration that offers freedom and creativity on a scale never before seen.

God is a GeekQuoteThe real kicker that helps separate Tears from Breath of the Wild is its power set. I felt like I was in control at all times, and had the ability to create my own path. For a series known for sequence-breaking, that's not just a perk; it's a strong argument for why Tears of the Kingdom will be talked about for years on end.
10/10
DestructoidQuoteAll told, Tears of the Kingdom is an astonishing, quite literally top-to-bottom sequel, adding complexity and splendor to the Breath of the Wild formula without sacrificing its enchantment.

EurogamerEdit: couple more
QuoteWe’ve already spent 80 hours in this world and want to get back to it as soon as we can. Tears of the Kingdom [is] a phenomenal experience.

VGCQuoteEverything about Tears of the Kingdom improves upon the core vision of Breath of the Wild. It is a staggering achievement of game design, and the best open-world experience ever created.

Star Wars Visions Volume 2... much, much, better than Volume 1 imo. I watched all the Shorts over the past few days and really loved the majority of them, which I don't think I could say about any in the first season. Beautiful visuals and good story-telling. A couple in particular were just stunning to look at.
Only negative is that, once again, each Short tends to retread the same ground. Eight of the nine shorts in Volume 1 were Jedi v Sith stories, and whilst it's definitely not as samey as that this time around, it's similar.
Hoping volume 3 keeps the focus on telling stories from around the world. Been great to see various cultures interpretation on Star Wars themes. Please, no more Jedi/Sith though...

Thanks, for some reason I read it as they're waiting for stock to fulfil my order

Speaking of the Nintendo Store, does anyone else have Status: Awaiting Shipment for the Special Edition? That doesn't sound promising lol
-
It's not releasing in the next month and a half?? I am shocked.

Shrines have been in 1 game. And they weren't in any of the footage shown so far.

Oh good. Now I know that shrines are still a thing, even though Nintendo have made no reference whatsoever to them. WTF??
It was all going great until this page.

Since then I have got two kids and a third on the way, two new jobs, and a house. And my oldest kid is just about to start school in August.
Two days until a guaranteed masterpiece. I haven't been this excited for a game since... well, BOTW.

I'd say at least two weeks with spoiler tags, more like a month ideally?

Same, seems like it was published early by mistake?
Nice new ad.

Just seen an ad on tv. You know something is a big deal when an advert finishes with 4 DAYS TO GO, filling the screen in giant letters

UK sales data. These days, it's great to have a third party single player game selling well.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
in Nintendo Gaming

Just put in a couple hours...
Great so far. The presentation is top notch, very cinematic, the intro was really well done. Nice that the game gets you into the gameplay quickly.
It's funny seeing so many YouTube videos try and piece together that opening with Link and Zelda, and how the actual game was so different
I quite like Zelda's voice performance, but I can understand people who don't.
Enjoyed the eerie Metroid-like music.
Title card sequence was outstanding, the way the fall into the water syncs with the music too, great stuff.
Once it opens up, the opening area is pretty daunting, tempting to just go in any direction and explore. Ultrahand takes a bit of getting used to, the rotation especially.
