  1. No it's not. Asking for a less intrusive approach isn't a radical change at all.

Besides, the first game was already pretty darn perfect, there's no real room for improvement, so it's pretty much a clean choice between either letting the IP sequel itself into irrelevance for lack of innovations (like most other IPs out there) or tinkering with the formula a bit. I never understood this mentality in the gaming community of wanting sequels that are pretty much the same game with minor fixes/improvements and a different setting... if a certain IP has peaked, either change it or let it die. Or at the very least wait at least 5 years before you release a samey sequel.

And you seem to be convinced I want AAA crap, by your replies. I hate DmC. It's exactly the opposite of what I want. I want something tastefully done, not generic crap.

I want Bayonetta 2 to do what DMC3 did to DMC1. But if it doesn't well...

Frankly, with certain games, you just can't change perfection. You can only attempt to improve on it. You'd be stupid to try to change things when something works.

I want the tone of the game to remain EXACTLY how it is.

Couldn't give a scrotum what they do with the story. I want it to be crazy. I want her to be ridiculous. I want everything to be over the top because that's why I still play video games.

If you call that generic, then please, look at what's the current best selling games at the moment. Shooting shooting and more shooting.

  2. Not really, it just needs less "LOOK HOW CORNY EVERYTHING IS!!!! WE'RE IRONIC!!!" It needs to stop being annoying and corny 100% of the time, and Bayonetta specifically needs to stop constantly breaking up the action with score screens and nonstop cutscenes. Platinum needs to learn that less is more, letting the players just explore the game's limitations and world on their own is always preferable to constantly reminding them "THIS IS A VIDEOGAME SO EVERYTHING MUST CONSTANTLY BE SEGMENTED, CORNY AND SCORED". It's like they devote themselves to making games that you're ashamed to have people walking in on...

If they were being genuine I'd have no problem with their over the top style, it's the fact that it's all being done sarcastically that bothers me. We get it... you're the cool hipster kids, how about moving the fuck on? No matter how good they are, if they just keep doing the same thing over and over and over again they'll get nowhere.

If it's easier for you to pretend that I'm asking for AAA bullshit in order to look down on me, by all means, go ahead... but that's the opposite of what I want.

What you're asking for is so specific and matters so little in the context of a video game that you will never see it realised.

Gameplay is king, and as long as they make the best action games available, they ain't going nowhere.

  3. Nah, I hold high hopes for that one, I see alot of that Viewtiful Joe charm in it. :D

But Vanquish, Bayonetta and MadWorld certainly are. They all play great and look good... but that's about it. The weird thing is we know what happens when they take a project seriously (Okami), and it's not that I don't appreciate their over the top gems (let's not forget God Hand), it's just that it's a bit sad seeing them waste their talent on such unanambitious projects when they could be blowing everyone else out of the water. Gameplay is the most important part of games, and nobody can rival Platinum's mastery in that regard... now imagine what would happen if they actually made a game without trying to be all meta and ironic about it!

needs more emotional shooty dudebro dog getting killed ellen page bang bang right

  4. This will be the best game on the WiiU and this thread is right down here.

You guys do realise that this is the sequel to The Greatest Action Game Of All Time™?

And because it's a WiiU exclusive, no other company can boast this.

Fanboy meltdowns in threads lasting 20,000 pages have happened.

    Wars have started.

The Earth cracked upon this announcement.

Do you guys not know the gravity of the situation you are in?

Think about it for a moment.

  5. I can't get over her outfit. Is she wearing stockings with a swimsuit (that rides all the way up her butt)? And some sort of... arm stockings? And those high-heeled leather boots aren't fit to wear to the beach. At least the fur wrap makes sense, in case she gets cold.

I would love to see her fly with those wings, though.

How much did that statue-thing cost anyway?

Much cheaper than normal price of £200 :)

  6. I'm pretty sure that's not a human body. For one thing, her knees are at completely different levels. That may be in part an optical illusion, but they seem completely different.

What...I didn't try and replicate that pose. Promise.

Well no. She is based on an illustration by Kinu Nishimura.

Her left leg is bent and appears in front of her right, hence the reason why her knee appears lower..

  7. Oh yeah, no denying that.

It's amazing how bad it has turned out. Spectacular, really. I thought only Nintendo were capable of this capitulation.

It's a race to the bottom.

The PS4 seems to be the console to be doing everything what a games console should be doing. Catering to the game developers.

You'd think Microsoft would capitalise on that. Oh well. Money saved!

  8. Just an observation: It's nice to see both Nintendo and Sony fans team up to slag off the Xbox One. :p

    The forum is...ONE.

Shi-, maybe this was the plan all along.

You don't need to be a fan of either to do that. It's overall a pretty terrible sounding product.

  9. What, that positives are in fact negatives?

It is fucking ridiculous the amount of times on this site you feel obliged to explain yourself as not being a fanboy. Questioning truth and reason out of people or what journalists write if it's against Nintendo, the same grubs come crawling out the 'other consoles' section and weild their Almighty multi console owners judgment mallet and proceed to cherry pick the fuck out of a single post and spin until their narrow minds find a way turn 'just a silly little fanboy' into a few paragraphs. Fuck. That.

If these people spent more time in the Nintendo section on a **Nintendo** site, then they might be more familiar with mine and other's, posts.

Positives are positives and with the Wii U at the minute they need to start somewhere. Right? We can talk numbers and momentum when when those figures are available.

I am very sorry that I upset you. I'll take back what I said.

You are not a Nintendo fanboy.

Obviously all these people that keep accusing you of being one are completely misinterpreting the words that you write. Having to constantly refute the claim that you're a Nintendo fanboy must be tough. I once knew a guy whom women would claim that he was a sexual predator, but he reasoned with me and explained that "he was only admiring the curvature of the woman's bottom as it reminded him of the balloons his late father would sell", and I saw the sense in his reasoning.

I genuinely do think that before people throw out accusations against others, they should read through each persons post count to get a much fairer assessment of what that person is trying to say.

Luigi's Mansion, LEGO City: Undercover and Monster Hunter 3 Tri Super Unlimited HD Remix Edition.

Ok, and what is being suggested is that this should be reported on.. that they are good games? Is that what the gaming press is required to do? Is that not the job of games advertising and the reviews?

  10. Three high scoring games have just been released and details about Nintendo reaching out to app developers with their new Bamboo framework. Wii U hardware sales have taken an upturn, and so France says, tripled over there.

Fact is, any negative Nintendo news get blown out of proportion and nullifies any positive news - that's just the law. And it's that engrained now people don't even realise they're infected with this mind virus, they just gi along with it.

I know, it just beggars belief. What a waste of server bandwidth this pile of shite has been! You could only imagine the look of shock on my face when Eurogamer publish this tomorrow - or maybe they'll wait till Tuesday morning when they stop shaking their fist at the sky for being a bank-holiday weekend.

Its great to note that the WiiU has tripled in sales in France. I believe it overtook the Wii that week as well, honestly, something definitely worth applauding.

And don't forget that in the UK the WiiU sales have grown 125% since last week. Maybe HMVs £140 price cut may have had something to do with that. Who knows!

Nintendo being kind to indie devs, on their thriving eshop. News to set the world alight I'm sure.

And what three high scoring games are these? The only ones I see advertised these days are bioshock and tomb raider.

Finally the next gen games engine refers to the fact that it's showing off features that can only be possible on next gen hardware and thus is the reason you'd use it. If you took the cry engine 3 and turned off the dynamic lighting, all the various maps, tesselation, rewrite the framework, you could get it to run on the DS.

No one is going to pay the license for unreal 4 to make WiiU games whe Unreal 3 will suffice. Its not good business.

Look, I know you love Nintendo, but just remember, they're a business, and they haven't been making good decisions lately.

  11. I've never seen the point of these kind of trailers. In terms of games you can actually play, they mean absolutely nothing.

Then again, it could be a test for the possible Gears of War replacement.

They show case to developers new features of the engine and what can be possible. They aren't meant to be gametrailers.

  12. I don't know mate, it's all negative, negative, negative from you from what I've seen. Maybe I'm mistaken, I don't know.

I'd question this story though. 1. What actual factual material is left here once you strip away the tabloid bullshit and rhetoric? 2. How does it contradict what has already been said? 3. Where are the probing follow-up questions? Why aren't they asked?

At best, this journalist is remiss and of poor skill and value for his profession. At worst, he went in their seeking exactly what he got.

Maybe it's all negative because Nintendo news in general has been negative lately.

I don't know what there is to question. The VP of epic says no unreal 4 for wiiu. Why? Well it's a waste of time and resources. They don't care what WiiU owners want. Because there aren't a lot if WiiU owners and historically Epic haven't released anything on a Nintendo console.

All this news is being twisted way out of proportion. Nintendo have survived for many years without massive third party support and they'll continue to survive without it with Wii U.

This Unreal stuff is unfortunate, but it's hardly the end of the world. Don't worry guys, you'll still have plenty of fun with your Wii U even without the new Unreal Engine powering the games.

For sure. Except they lost a lot of their core fan base last gen, whom they relied upon during the GC days. Don't bet the horse on casuals. They aren't predictable in the slightest.

  13. I was a member over 10 years ago, when the GC came out. Things were very different back then. I can't even remember how i discovered it. But I had made some great friends who I'm still friends with to this day. So it was all worth it. Things changed of course, but we're all grown ups now aren't we? Now I make games for a living, and that's something I could only dream about back then.

  14. How many of you gave a shit about this franchise before the sequel was announced as a Nintendo funded exclusive? I'm curious.

Also, Neogaf is a great forum. The sheer number of posters guarantee some idiots will appear, but the general diversity and attitudes of most posters makes for very enjoyable reading.

Exactly. As long as there are Nintendo fans who appreciate and take notice of the kind of non Nintendo game they continuesly beg for, then the rage we see isn't warranted.

Further more it is truly amusing to see a forum with about 15 regular users making fun of one of the biggest gaming forums around. Do you guys limit yourself to the usual console war fanboy threads on there?
