  1. General Movie Thread

Holy shit Dune was good. Everything I hoped it would be when I heard Villeneuve signed on to direct - bold, impactful, atmospheric. Everyone turned up with their A game. Can’t wait for part 2
  2. Metroid Dread

Taking a week off from this before I go back and start speed running it (not bothered about hard mode) - I’m fairly confident I can get sub 4 hours. The fact there’s already a sub-1:30 out there is madness.
  3. Darkest Dungeon II

Have they just made the original 3D? Looks like all the classes are the same.
  4. Apex Legends

Any rumours on what kind of character Ash is? Annoyingly I think I won’t be available for the new map release.
  5. DC Cinematic Universe Discussion

Maybe DC would have been served better by doing Solo movies first, who knows, but that wasn’t the reason why their Universe has failed to to take off like Marvel’s. Shite movies is why DC is lagging, and will continue to lag. Also Ezra Miller is terrible casting. Want to give him a chance but he has no relation to the characters in the comics (Allen or West), and the jokey persona they’ve given him instead was insubstantial in a team up movie, let alone in a solo.
  6. Hard pass. Nostalgia is worth a lot less to me than that.
  7. Metroid Dread

Got about 5 hours in, and this just oozes quality - really loving it. One thing I haven’t seen mentioned is the physical characterisation of Samus - casually charging the beam when a boss appears, or standing shoulders back, and the way she ‘relaxes’ in one particular cutscene (you’ll know it when you see it) - I really feel the human behind the suit. Top, top stuff
  8. The Best Gaming Music Ever.

@Julius@Ike Thank you so much guys, really appreciate it. Some fantastic ones in there - special shoutout to Astral Observatory Ike, which I would have never remembered, and same for Dire Dire docks Julius, which would have been criminla to leave out. Award goes to the Dali theme though - would never have thought of that. Going to pick through the Journey ost now and pick some out. The track is coming together nicely
  9. The Best Gaming Music Ever.

Zoras domain was a great call, and its gone straight on there. Animal Crossing is harder work because youtube is just all compilations, but I'll spend some time going through the KK tracks.
  10. The Best Gaming Music Ever.

I have a favour to ask of the music experts in this thread. My wife and I have just had very premature twins, and while we’re in the hospital I’ve been putting together an audio track to play in their incubators. At the moment it’s made up of some of the family speaking, and some classical music - but I’d love to put some gaming music in there. It has to be fairly low frequency (as it being played over a ‘womb sounds’ track), and also chill/calming (obviously). So nothing from Shadow the Hedgehog. Any recommendations?
  11. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy

What’s the story with Body Harvest? Haven’t heard this before.
  12. Metroid Dread

Read the Eurogamer and Polygon reviews - suffice to say I am now properly hyped.
  13. Elden Ring (25th February 2022)

God damn I'm so fucking excited for this. Im going to desperately try to be ready for Day 1, as the From games are absolutely the kinds of game you want to be in on the ground floor with, discovering secrets and untangling the lore.
  14. I think I’ll just have to play this for the cutscenes. I mean that’s just golden. They must know what they’re doing, surely.
  15. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

I’m happy for all the KH fans, but christ this bums me out. Was hoping for something cool.
  16. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

    Oh never mind.
  17. Is it too much of a stretch to say that this may be the last new Smash character ever? Even if there are new instalments in the Smash franchise in the future, where will they find characters who didn’t make it into ultimate? Surely only new IPs, and we all know how rare new IPs are.
  18. Making 'big' decisions

You’ll figure it out. The freedom of living without a plan is invigorating. Practically speaking if you’re in one country and your visa is running out, pick a neighbouring country, go to the their embassy in whatever country you’re in and get a visa. Move on. Always keep enough in your bank for a flight home. If you’re set on not going immediately take the time to do your TEFL course, so you can earn a bit of cash teaching English if you fancy sticking around somewhere for a while.
  19. Making 'big' decisions

Book a flight and go, and never look back. Sometimes in life you just need to jump off the deep end.
  20. Good choice for a remake - excited about this.
  21. God of War: Ragnarök (9th November 2022)

    Bit disappointed by that trailer.
  22. The idea that the developers of a Pokemon have such limited resources - one of the greatest selling games series of all time Pokemon - to such an extent that they're putting out ugly ass shit like that, means that someone in that ownership structure (whether it be Ninty, Pokemon company or Game Freak) is either being a tight ass, or stopped giving a shit, or both.
  23. Football Season 2020-21

That EUR75m for Haaland is false, since you're going to have to tag on an additional 40m in agents fees (minimum), some kind of signing on fee, plus 300k a week. Riola is going to make out like an absolute bandit.
  24. Hades (PC, Switch)

I just keep coming back to this game. I’ve now completed the game with all weapons aspects, except 4 of the legendaries. Guan Yu is proving very tricky, and I think I may have to invest more blood things in it.
  25. Hades (PC, Switch)

On the bow, get the aspect that allows you to load your blood gem onto the bow shot. I'll let you figure out how to maximise its potential. Doesn't fix the bows mobility problem, but the damage starts to get crazy.
