  1. Post Your Purchases

I went out for a drive and ended up going to Milton Keynes since I ended up out that way.
  2. Photography.

I have an Olympus E-510. It's pretty good, but the E520 is out now and the E530 will no doubt follow soon. Although I read the review of the E-520 and it's apparently not worth the upgrade if you already own the E-510. I just plan on investing in new lenses. I'm tempted by a fish eye lens when I have the money. I live near Banbury, which is the town you can see lit up in that picture. The petrol station picture was taken at an abandoned U.S air base. They're slowly rejuvinating the place, but the abandoned petrol station is still pretty derelict.

Plus this was on the counter for £1, which went to charity. So I had to really. It's supposed to be a frog apparently.

That second picture is awesome. It's got one quite sensible phrase that is completely ruined by slack jawed scrawlings. Genius!

A collage I did for my photo course: MORE FIRE!: And some action shots. Baja Bug: Opel Monza up on 2 wheels. Very lucky to get this one:
  6. Weight Loss 2009

Holy cock! I've just been looking back through old pictures of myself and I can actually see a difference. I haven't really seen a change yet, since I see myself everyday and nothing seems to change. Before (I'm glad I keep my hair shorter nowerdays...): New years: Now (ish) Still an ugly fucker mind...
  7. The Movie News Thread!

Just saw the trailer this evening at the cinema. It looks awesome. "How would you defend yourself against a man with 2 dildos?"
  8. How was your day?

I'm getting pissed off now. The day started off ok. Met Happenstance and other friends in town. Went to the college to sign up for a course. I knew there was a good chance it would be full, but it turns out the last space went yesterday. I wouldn't mind so much, but I tried to sign up online weeks ago, only to be told it was full when it wasn't. Was told in a different lesson that there was spaces so I thought I'd try in person today. Useless fucking arseholes. The only reason I want to do this next course is because the good friends I met on the current course are doing it and good friends seem few and far between at the minute. So that set the tone for the day. I'm also trying to organise a trip to Thorpe Park after Rez's glowing review. I set up an event on FaceAche 2 weeks ago, only for everyone to set their status to "maybe". Seriously, how hard is it to check your plans, then decide if you actually want to go? Now the plan is set for Saturday and only one person has confirmed that they're going. And he lives in London, so I'll be driving to Thorpe Park alone. I then found out in my last college lesson that one of the other people (one of the people I'd consider a good friend) is going on Sunday. I sent her a message on Facebook (I don't have her number) asking if she wanted to combine her trip with mine and both go on the Sunday and invite everyone else on the course along too as a sort of leaving do. Lo and behold, someone else hasn't replied. Seriously, why are people awkward dickheads? Now I'm contemplating not going. The only friend that has said they're going is inviting a load of his uni mates, so if I go I'll feel like an outsider at an event I organised. If I don't go, they'll probably go without me and I'll be left out of my own event. I fucking hate people.
  9. I've been debating whether or not to make this thread for a while now, but after a discussion with Happenstance today I decided in true doctor pepper fashion, "whats the worst that could happen?" So here is a history of previously owned vehicles. Hopefully it's interesting enough. Bear in mind I'm only 23 and been driving 3 or 4 years. I think I've racked up an interesting motor history. First of all my first car. I had no real intention of learning to drive, but when I saw this car in Tesco car park for sale I decided I wanted it badly. So I bought it and learnt to drive in it. 1993 1.6 VW Golf Driver: When I bought it: After some choice "modz". Lowered 40mm, BBS rm wheels and a badgeless grille: I then decided I needed a second car for youthful japery. So I decided on this 1971 1.3 VW Hustler Beach Buggy. Remained pretty much the same throughout my ownership. Immense fun: I then decided the Golf was too slow and dull, so I sold it and bought a 1988 2.4 Mazda RX7. It was a little odd at first since it has a rotary engine and the power doesn't kick in untill at least 4k revs. I didn't know this and thought it was as slow as my Golf untill I gave it the beans one day. It was a good day. Didn't modify this at all since I wouldn't have been able to afford the insurance if I did: I then decided to take the RX7 to the Nurburgring. It made the journey quite easily, but it started leaking oil from the gearbox and then one of the exhaust fell off. Having spent all my money on fuel for the damn thing (20mpg at best), I had no money to repair it. So I sold it cheap and bought a 1987 1.8 VW Scirocco. When I got it: After some choice changes. Coilover adjustable suspension (the old suspension was knackered), ATS cup wheels and a tonne of stickers. Also had to replace the fuel filler neck: I then realised that the beach buggy was only going to sit there waiting for good weather and that I didn't have the skill to carry out repairs or the money to pay someone else to do it. So I sold it to someone who could look after it and bought a 1993 2.0 Toyota MR2 T-Bar as my "weekend" car. I got it since I still wanted the open topness of the buggy, but missed the looks and speed of the RX7. Luckily it's actually faster than the RX7. No modifications yet: I'm now left with the Scirocco and the MR2, but due to this wonderful recession a lot of normally expensive cars are dirt cheap. I've been eyeing up a MK1 Golf recently. Although I really don't want to sell one of my current cars. So whats everyone else rolling in? Or previously owned?

  11. Would you help a stranger?

Depends on the situation. If I can help, I usually do. I'm useless with people tripping up in front of me though. I feel like a total bell end standing there asking "are you alright?", then wondering what the hell to do. Normally I slow my pace to check they're ok, then wander off. To stop myself looking like a total knob, I'd like to point out that Happenstance and I helped a woman push her car out of the road when it broke down in the rain once. Also had a similar experience with a mobile phone. It was pretty fancy for the time. I looked through the phone for family members and rang one up. Bloke came out and picked up the phone. No reward. Bastard. And on the other side of the fence, I once broke down outside a classic car show I had just attended. Wanged the bonnet up, had a look, discovered I was in fact useless at repairing cars, called the AA and waited. Countless classic car owners drove past and didn't stop. I thought that they would have had more sympathy, being owners of old, slightly unreliable cars. But no. You know who the only 2 people to stop were? "Chavs", one of which had just finished a shift at Halfords and probably wanted nothing more than to rush home. Just goes to show you, it's surprising who actually helps and who just walks on by. I can't think of another time a stranger has helped me to be honest. People are arseholes I guess.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno Pretty good. Some very funny bits amongst the amusing bits. Nothing groundbreaking, just a mindless comedy really. 8/10 The Boat That Rocked Nothing epic, but definately different. Story is a little too idealistic at times. Good for a feel good movie. 7.5/10
  13. Rate the Above Poster's Avatar and Signature

The 80's were the coolest period ever. Everyone knows that. It is however, lacking Bowie, who of course starred in the best movie of the 80s: 8/10 Swearing is neither big nor clever. Unless it is. But those cases are rare. I am partial to red though: 4/10
  14. The Music Thread.

I may invest in their album if I see it in town tomorrow. It's quite hard to find their music to listen to more. There isn't much on iTunes and Spotify and I don't like the "other" methods of getting music.
  15. The Music Thread.

What little of their other stuff I've heard is also pretty good. Monsoon seems a little "soft" compared to the other songs I've heard. They're remind me of Hoobastank, with "Monsoon" being their "Reason".
  16. The Music Thread.

Arg! I can't get this song out of my head. I chuffing love it.
  17. How was your day?

Despite the lack of new tattoo and Lego, I had a good end to the day. Had my last photography lesson, which mainly involved sitting around doing very little since I had already finished all my stuff. During the various conversations, I got talking to one of the lovely ladies about how I had applied for a school photographer job. She said I should definately stick with it if I don't get the job since she thought I was really good at photography. People occaisionally tell me I'm good at photography, but it's usually when they see my work and feel they have to, "yeah, uh, you're good and junk. Say, is that man made of wicker?". She seemed really geniune, which meant a lot in a room full of other people with equally good work. Plus she is damn fine looking and generally awesome (despite looking slightly like Bridget from Neighbours), which helps. Ninja edit: Plus to make things even better, the teacher went through peoples work all evening and mine was actually all done. I thought I would have had to add some more notes in the lesson.
  18. How was your day?

Well that plan turned to shit pretty quick. No Lego X Wing in any shops I looked in (Tesco, Trinders and Argos). "Never mind, I'd probably look a right prick walking into a tattoo parlour carrying Lego" I thought to myself. Get to the tattoo place, go through the usual process of making sure they know how I want the design I gave them (this is the second sitting in 3). Turns out they didn't know the pattern carries on all the way round my arm. So there isn't time today to draw up the stencil. Bugger. Booked in for the 18th now. Bum, tits, fanny, feck, wee wee. What a day.
  19. How was your day?

I'm getting inked today. And after serious Lego website browsage, I've decided that if I can find a Lego X Wing in town for a reasonable price, I'm getting one. Today's going to be expensive it would seem...
  20. How was your day?

The Bowie-Bulge is legendary. It's almost a shame since it makes watching the awesome Labyrinth seem suspiciously like watching some sort of bizzarre gay midget animal porn. Luckily the always lovely Jennifer Connelly (seriously, she's like 40 odd and I'd still slam the back out of her) stops it from being a complete sausagefest.

Blade Runner Better than I remembered it. Not massively action packed but a good story I reckon. 7.5/10

Outpost Meh. A bit generic but ok none the less. Imagine Wolfenstein in movie form. 6.5/10

  24. Rate the last film you saw

I just couldn't like the film. There is only so long a film can go on giving you no clue what it's about before it gets frustrating. Plus I found the ending a bit predictable once I did figure out what was going on. I didn't think it was terrible, I just thought it was a very good idea for a story done badly.
  25. four letter word progression

Turd And there is one that can be made from this, I made sure.
