  1. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

I long for the day when Nintendo can be looked at by the average gamer as more than just a Mario or Zelda company. There are so many franchises under their wing and yet they keep pushing these two. They're great franchises and sell well, and that is why other IPs might need a bit more of a push because the former are already guaranteed to sell. I hope Metroid, Pikmin, F-Zero and Star Fox will one day be as important to Nintendo as Mario and Zelda, but I am not holding my breath. I'd just love to see all the polished Nintendo games be the best in their respective genres under the Nintendo Seal of Quality.
  2. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

It's true. I have many an ex who can confirm.
  3. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

Would have been quite the console indeed if we got an actual Advance Wars game on the Cube
  4. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

And Majora's Mask was put out in one year! I wouldn't mind them using the world of Breath of the Wild again and give it a unique overhaul in the same vain they reused much of the assets of Ocarina of Time for Majora's Mask.

  6. I was wondering this after Skyward Sword, but do you guys hope the next mainline console Zelda game will leave Hyrule for what it is and focus on another story line or would you be content my with more adventures in and around Hyrule? Technically Skyward Sword was pre-Hyrule but the game served to set up the Hyrule narrative. I think I would love to see anything like Majora's Mask again where a new lore can be created outside of Hyrule. A return of Vaati would also be very welcome, especially in 3D. Ah, how I remember the speculation that Ghirahim might be Vaati, haha. Continuing the timeline at the very end of any of the three timelines would be interesting, and I will never stop hoping we will see Toon Link on the big screen again someday.
  7. Shovel Knight

Would you guys recommend buying this on a 3DS or on WiiU?
  8. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

Can't wait for some good ol' fashioned Geoff and Reggie banter seeing as the bIg man himself is coming. These guys should seriously do a let's play together sometimes.
  9. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

I think all this talk by EA about their major game coming to Switch either refers to FIFA or the long-awaited sequel to Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure.
  10. Boss Keys - Zelda dungeon video analysis

His point on spatial awareness was quite good, I thought. It's really what can make the dungeons into a glorified 'Brain Training' exercise if you will. I remember some dungeons in the Oracle Games really had me sweating in trying to fit all the pieces together in my head. Ah, now I want to play my third favourite Zelda of all time, Minish Cap, again.
  11. The Wii to me was the machine after the GameCube that cemented my love for Nintendo and had me experience many of its franchises retroactively and had me enjoy many new experiences as well. Through the virtual console I was able to experience Zelda, Metroid, Mario and many other classics and owing to its backwards compatability I was able to fall in love with series like F-Zero. The New Play Control games had me discovering the wonderful worlds of the Pikmin franchise, and the simple on-line capabilities ensured I had a blast with Mario Kart Wii, Super Mario Strikers Charged, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and yes, we know we all enjoyed The Conduit online with that marvel of a Wii-Speak in all its echoing glory. It might not have been considered a 'serious' gaming console in my immediate surroundings, I still feel the very concept of the Wii did something for the gaming industry which was previously never a focus: getting people of all walks of life together to appreciate a video game. Though Nintendo might have failed in transforming people uninterested in video games to enthusiasts of it, I am sure there are anecdotal stories out there that have people start out their gaming journey with their parents buying them games like Wii Play, Boom Blox, The Blob, Super Paper Mario, and Mario Party 8 and ending up with an interest in Nintendo's history and the gaming industry as a whole. Who knows they might've even bought a PlayStation along the way. This is what a Sony executive meant when he said that 'When Nintendo does well in the industry, the industry grows, which is good for the industry in general.' There were times when I was dissapointed I couldn't play some interesting third party games or other indie games on it because of it's lack of power or what not and the whole vibe surrounding the Wii sometimes got a bit embarrasing with the infamous 2008 press conference. 3rd party games that did end up making it to the Wii were either shovelware, very interesting experimental games or B-tier games that threw around interesting stories and gameplay ideas. I'm thinking about games like Zack&Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure, Opoona, Eledees, House of the Dead Overkill, Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, and many others that are on my gem backlog list. The term 'hidden gem' has probably never been more appropriate than for the Wii's vast library of games and it is a damn shame people dismissed the Wii as a mere 'waggle-box' or what have you. The Wii probably did more for interesting gameplay, with an emphasis on play here, than the legacy of Sony and Microsoft's 1st party offerings during this generation. All in all, I love my Wii and I still have it under my TV for when I do inevitably go gem hunting or when I want to play some GameCube games. Nintendo's bold move shaped the industry from 2006 onward and it is a testiment to their commitment to get more people involved in playing, whatever form this may take. The Wii was divisive in one way and brought people together in another. For that feat I shall dub it the Nintendo Paradox. ...what's that you say? I forgot to mention the greatest game objectively of all time which is, in fact, a Wii exclusive? Not only did I not forget, I waited specifically for the end of my post to honour it in all its glory with the boxart: Little King's Story is the Wii's greatest achievement in my eyes. A game perfect in every sense of the word, blending genres and delivering a kind of satisfaction not even felt in my final words below.

The Rabbids are accomplices in the murder of 'real' 3D Rayman games, and on top of that I am not really into their schtick. However, I see some people really enjoyed Rabbids: Go Home and I have little experience with the Rabbids games. It's just that what I have seen of them annoys me somewhat and to me is a bit childish/simplistic humour. I just pray every time they distance themselves more and more form the world of Rayman so that we can, someday, once again have a fantastical 3D Rayman adventure.
  13. Harmo Knight (eShop)

So I downloaded this game as it was still on the list of numerous games I still wanted to play and it was a nice little experience. Some stages are definitly a lot more challenging on Fast, but sometimes faster rhythms actually suited the stage better. I must say that I sometimes had trouble with the rhythms not really understanding why they had an enemy or something represent a note at a specific moment. It is VERY different from Rhythm Tengoku that's for sure. Speaking of Rhyhtm Paradise, I am looking forward to buying the latest one sometime when I return home. I also forgot to use the discount for this game you can find on MyNintendo.... So all in all a nice little rhythm game with lots of potential for an expansion. I've always wante to see an epic in which multiple tribes use different instruments and have different musical styles and something throws off the balance of this universe and someone needs to master all the differents grooves and instruments to bring balance back again. It fits the Zelda universe well, I'd say.
  14. What was your first Nintendo console?

Wow, lot o' NES and SNESers around here. My Nintendo journey actually started with the wonderful Cube of Games(before that I was a Playstation/PC guy): I will never forget all the time I put into Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door, The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Mario Kart: Double Dash and a few other gems. I got a Cube in its last year, but after that I kept discovering more and more gems for the Cube and have yet to play them all. Retroactively I have become a massive fan of the Pikmin and F-zero series because of their Cube games, and don't even get me started on the beauty of Metroid Prime. Oh, and then there was also a little game called Resident Evil 4 and the madness that is Killer 7. Plus the greatest cutscenes the Mario Universe has ever seen in Mario Power Tennis. What a machine, what a machine!
  15. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

I think Advance Wars will finally make its glorious return.
  16. Paper Mario: Colour Splash

My time has shifted a bit to a new passion: Japanese drumming, and so ever since time for gaming has slowly decreased. I lost good friends and a lover with who I played a lot of games, so after that I had to pick myself up again. Gaming and the enjoyment thereof was linked to these people, so it took me quite some time to remold my love for vidyagames. There came a time when I merely browsed GAF and NintendoEverything, and played the new Hitman and the Uncharted series with my housemate on his PS4 and games on my Nintendo systems became an afterthought. However, with the reveal of the Switch my lust for getting into a Nintendo state of mind has been invigorated once again. So I downloaded Harmoknight and Cold Case Investigations: Distant Memories and started watching The Legend of Zelda videos and analysis of the series and stuff... I am actually traveling around the world a bit (Melbourne, Calgary (Canada) and Japan twice) and I have finding Japanese drumming schools along the way. Anyways, my backlog has grown, but there are a lot of beautiful games waiting for me when I return home in Februari. All I have with me now is my 3DS. Regarding Paper Mario: Colour Splash, I definitely won't let it slide, but will try to get it as cheap as possible. The Thousand Year Door might be unbeatable because of nostalgia for me.: peace: Edit: Sticker Star was just abominably bad to me; a real punch in the gut. I should really get 'round to Dream Team Bros. and Paper Jam Bros. and see if these are able to top Superstar Saga in a way.
  17. Paper Mario: Colour Splash

So as someone who adores the Paper Mario series, up untill Sticker Star that is which to me was nor a good Paper Mario game nor a very enjoyable game in general, I am getting the feeling that this game follows the Sticker Star formula in some regards, but is back up to scratch when it comes to dialogue again? It certainly doesn't seem like it has regained the creativity in terms of NPCs, areas and enemies compared to the first 3 Paper Marios. Would I be close on the money with my gut on this one?
  18. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

How is that crazy? I have never understood long hype cycles. Are you saying you really need more than 2 months! to digest the information they will give us? Heck, the internet needs a week at best to analyse all the footage and news, and all we might need is a day or two to take it all in. You'd rather be dripfed bits and pieces of info over the year or would you rather know most of the info and what games are coming in one go to get it over with?
  19. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

There is some word going around that this is the successor to the WiiU and that the 3DS will have its own successor. Seems kind of......hmmm...... The best thing Nintendo could ever do right now is have all of their teams work on one amazing console/hanheld hybrid.
  20. Boss Keys - Zelda dungeon video analysis

I'm really enjoying these videos! So much so that I was pretty bummed that the series is still on going and not finished yet. I love it when people look at the Zelda games through time.
  21. 3DS eShop Thread

Aren't people excited for: It's from the great mind of the guy behind Hotel Dusk. My gaming appetite has returned because of the Switch announcement, haha.
  22. This is such a hot ass Zelda game fusing Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess and Wind Waker into one fine piece of The Legend of Zelda ass. Man I love this franchise. The fact that it is such an old series that keeps reinventing itself in certain ways whilst still keeping the charm of what makes it Zelda is amazing! I definitely want to do a Zelda marathon one day. It is the one franchise I will stay loyal to untill I die.
  23. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

So is this focus on Skyrim another case of Batman: Arkham City with the WiiU? Who does it appeal to?
  24. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

First console reveal with no Iwata, feels weird man. Excited nontheless! I want to know what I will be playing Breath of the Wild on.
