  1. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

@kav82 I think Dazzybee means he thinks Nintendo will never consider putting their on other consoles. I think he's wrong there, if Nintendo hardware and software sale slump to such a degree that they can't make profit they'd make the jump, that stands to reason... they will not drive their business into the gound. But Nintendo will do everything in their power to avoid becoming a third or second part developer; this won't be a consideration for Nintendo for a decade or more (two disaterous generations at least). Fact is, Nintendo have been profitable for two financial years on the spin - not huge profits but it's given them breathing space. And prior to that Nintendo's losses have been at the hands of international forces, not necessarily bad business decisions (though, they did make a fair few). I think they could profit from similar hardware base in the future too and they'd need a complete disaster a significant change in direction. Even then, assuming they can't get to a critical mass with a consle install base, Nintendo making efforts to diversify it's business it could quite feasibly take a hit on yet another poor selling console. The key factor in any move to becoming a third party developer is going to be when console sales are so low the value of their IP sinks... that's a long, long way off.

I wonder if they'd be better totally ignoring e3 this year, no matter how good Zelda will be turning up with one game just looks terrible.
  3. My Nintendo ( Club Nintendo Successor )

I think Bill Trinan semi- confirmed this a while ago.
  4. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

I've just woken from the worst dream ever; Nintendo announced NX would launch in March 2017, Zelda delayed, no games for Wii U and no games at E3. Best get some coffee and wait the news from the earnings briefing.
  5. Star Fox Zero

Anything is a spoiler is a don't know.
  6. Mario Kart League 2016

Count me in for this next race.

If this is correct, we won't hear a huge amount. It'll surely be the stuff investors will be told, ‘we aim to launch new devices in this financial year, our target is x units within this year etc’. This is, no doubt, stuff that Nintendo would share - with NDAs - with third parties. I'm not getting my hopes to too much for concrete details on what NX is.
  8. PS4 Pro

It seems to me the extra horsepower is simply being used to optimise games for 4K. I think that's fine, if you own a 4K TV you're presently struggling for content. A wait of 2-3 years for 4K gaming would be frustrating too. If Sony present this as simply that, a PS4 optimised for 4K, I think it's fine and nothing to stress over. I'm not sure I totally believe that developers are unhappy with this - are most of them not factoring 4K into their PC games? Probably... No one is saying it'll be a good 4K display though.
  9. The Android Thread

Anyone have any experience of action camera? Ideally, with relatively easy syncing to Google Photos.
  10. Sky q

I'm considering it, though I'll not pay what they're asking! We've just given notice on our account so it's a waiting game for then to call about discounts.

That worked out wonderfully for them! Doubtless, with some clever financing, they could get a powerful console at sub-£200. It's the (costly) gimmick that throws me when considering allk there possibilities!
  12. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

Nothing is making any sense with these predictions; E3 cannot come soon enough! As much as I think they'll come in with an all singing, all dancing superpowerful console with portable controller I think they need to aim for a sub-£200 mark.
  13. What Happens NX?

Buying a console is more than just a couple of games and would suggest that FIFA, COD etc are a factor, and together, they would be a tipping point but individually - for the a vast majority of people won't convince them either way. My experience of console buying this generation is that of social, more accurately viral purchasing. Most people i've spoken to have purchased a PS4 because mates have one and they want to play online, ignoring factors like exclusives, backwards compatibility etc. This is probably where Nintendo need to aim for; and their mobile efforts should give them the potential to drive that viral purchasing we're seeing; for example if Miitomo were to give gaming updates or challenges they could encourage users of free apps to join the community on the dedicated hardware.
  14. My Nintendo ( Club Nintendo Successor )

Has anyone got any "Just for you" offers in Nintendo Account? I have none.
  15. Nintendo NX & Third Parties

The third-party publishers will return with their big name franchises when Nintendo cultivate an appropriate audience for them. That means Nintendo need to up their game and create exclusive reasons for the wider gaming market to buy their consoles (this isn't Mario or a cel-shaded Zelda) - because no matter what else Nintendo do they'll not give the wider gaming market enough reason to even consider a shift to Nintendo from competing platforms. They'll either need to shore up a bunch of games with exclusive third party deals or hit the ground running with self-developed (or second party) titles.
  16. Star Fox Zero

    Sì, ho ricevuto uno anche.
  17. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

I adore the look of NES and Super NES games on my plasma, with colours that are vibrant! Glorious and much better than the washed out GamePad screen. I'm undecided if i think this is legit. Though, I quite think the design, it don't want to call it "premium" but it seems to have a great finish and an improvement on all previous hardware from Nintendo. They need to come up with a suitable replacement for buttons and D-pad, whether that's possible with current technology is debatable.
  18. Miitomo

To be fair to Serebii I recall Nintendo stating that their mobile efforts will be used to drive sales of their dedicated hardware and games and that would imply that mobile is not designed for current fans - why on earth would they tempt their current fanbase from their main dedicated console business?! Sure, it'll appeal to current fans and doubtless Nintendo is aware of this but it's not designed for them. And I think Miitomo probably proves that.
  19. Splatoon

Yup, would mind a Splat later this evening. Proabably 8:30PM for me.
  20. Miitomo

Are we really the target audience for Miitomo? I've a feeling they won't actually give this a Direct or any further hype; they'll get it into the Play Store and App Store and build momentum with (maybe) some advertising but mainly rely on word of mouth? That seems to be the secret sauce on these platforms, right? I think there's lots of promise in this, I'm hoping it can become a sort of social hub for them, seeing Wii U/3DS online status, recent posts, arranging gaming sessions, etc. If their aim for their mobile efforts are to drive sales of consoles, i'd expect links to my Mario Kart and Smash Bros videos too, etc. There has to be more to this than questions and asnwers with some microtransaction costumes.
  21. Splatoon

I'm hoping this means they've tinkered with the overpowered rollers.
  22. Miitomo

Is someone able to explain the Miitomo hate? As someone who really values Nintendo games on Nintendo hardware I consider Miitomo ideal for them. It balances their desire to keep their games on their own dedicated hardware whilst also expanding into mobile to develop customer loyalty outside their established market. Is this not a good thing?
  23. Miitomo

Launch date announced for Japan: 17 March. I'm sure it was said to be a global release... No news on a Western date (but I'll guess same date).
  24. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

I'd love to see Iwata (and Yamauchi for that matter) honoured by Nintendo but not naming a chip or console after them (5 years and they're forgotten about!). I think both should have regular cameos in games; seeing a stylised Iwata as a cheeky inventor in Zelda or Yamauchi as a school teacher would be perfectly fitting for them both.
  25. My Nintendo Picross

I guess they're holding back to show the My Nintendo/Nintendo Account and Miitomo in a separate briefing?
