  1. but the 360 version looks identical to the PS3 so how can the Wii version look like the 360 game. NCAA football 08 looks better on the 360 compared to PS3 also.

I was just saying that if no-one told me the that was Wii I would assume it was 360, because the graphics look really nice.

  2. this isn't about hype. That's the wrong word really. Like Pedro says it has that.

It isn't marketed as much as halo because it doesn't appeal to a very wide audience. If you look at the most popular games among casuals, Gta,halo, need for speed. They're all Very easy games whereas metroid isn't.

Hype can be good or bad thing but I think corruption has the right balance and I believe NIntendo will advertise this game properly but metroid will NEVER ever appeal to the casual gamer which means it will never sell as much as games like halo.

I disagree I think that Metroid appeal's to a very large demographic. (I'm not talking about the 'harcore gamer' *I hate that phrase passionately*)

Sc-fi games/movies/books have enormous appeal to people and that is really what the essence of Metroid is. Saying metroid will never appeal to the 'casual gamer' *another phrase I hate* I think is wrong. You only have to look at the popularity of Sc-fi movies, TV shows and novels in the general public to know that it has a strong and devoted following.

Metroid needs only to be Marketed as Metroid no gimics, no fancy techniques or chessy promotions. I always find the best gaming advents are those that show a plentiful amount of gameplay. Obviously this inevitably will be coupled with the exaggerated, over enthusiatic actor who has probably never played the game in his life.

    Anti-Hype

Unfortunately I can't help but agree with Matt to some extent. Metroid has always been absymally marketed in my opinion, especially when in comparsion with other big name Killer Apps (Halo... anyone).

However on the other hand I think the lack of hype is sometimes a blessing for gamers who don't want their games spoiled by over circulation and years of hype and build up which in my opinion kills many excellent games (Halo, Zelda TP, Mario Sunshine etc...) when the stellar expectaions of gamers is not met.

Yet, there is still time for Nintendo to build up a substantial marketing campaign especially in Europe :p and to give Nintendo credit over the last couple years Nintendo have learned from their mistakes and have advertised DS and Wii products expertly pouring resources into advertising. The popularity of such products is a testament to how strongly Nintendo have improved their game.

They must remember that games unfortunately do not sell on the basis of quality or critical acclamation.

If they did Metroid's sales would eclipses the likes of Halo every single time.

  4. Honestly, I can't tell any difference between the Wii version and the PS3/X360 version. Actually the grass looks better on Wii...

    Wii Video - gametrailers.com

    X360/PS3 Video - gametrailers.com

Only difference I could see without getting too anal about things is the lighting and detail in the jerseys is a bit better on the PS3 version but the Wii version has the better grass. I'd say if you didn't tell me it was Wii I'd assume it was XBOX 360.

  5. The comments about SF2': Hyper Fighting on XBLA are a little off, I mean all it is, is an emulator running a shoe horned version of SF2 with online bolted in.

The Wii's main problem, is the fact that its networking is all wireless, which can be stupidly laggy.

I agree lag is the only thing that can hinder the online experience and should be what Nintendo focus on preventing, because it sometimes ruins Strikers and would be a shame to ruin this also.

  6. So I'm a big gaming fan and keep up-to-date with all the going ons; but I don't actually own any next-gen consoles. And for the first time yesterday I played on a Wii and I was quite disappointed to start off with... I played Wii Sports and it was so boring... so simple and didn't captivate me at all.

Then I played Resident Evil 4 and that was a little better... controls were hard but then again I guess they would be fine after a bit more playing (especially cause I was a Wii n00b). So basically what I want to know, is do you think based on this I should still buy a Wii? Does anyone else out there really enjoy their Wii but totally hate Wii Sports? normally the fact that I don't like one game wouldn't bother me... but this is a game that people have hyped so much...

I think the question to ask is did you play Wii tennis? and did you play multiplayer?

If the answer to those questions are no, I can see where you're coming from.

  7. Yeah which was the worst Metorid game ever made IMO

Yeh I'll go with that. Still pretty fun though, as far as I'm concerned Hunters is a completely different type of game than the other primes.

Metroid Prime should be a single player game.

  8. Hyrule temple was fun in the beginning, but gets boring quickly. When its 1on1 you spend half the time chasing, when its 2on2 you can't see anything.

I disagree I've played there SOOOO many times and it has never been boring.

Granted, I mostly play 4 player matches. But hey each to their own: peace:

  9. Wouldn't like Ganon included, would be far to slow and Bowser like; also unlike Ridley, I can't really see Ganon scaling down to a fightable size very well.

Ganondorf makes a much better fighter!

And yes Hyrule temple was awesome, definately up there with the best!

Hope it's part of the back catalogue of stages included in Brawl (assuming there is one, like Melee had).

I was expecting Ganon to be his transformation maybe as his Final Smash.

This game just keeps on looking better.
