Ubi's casual games fund 360 and PS3 development
Buying into Ubisoft's casual range of games is going to fund its hardcore efforts.
The development and subsequent sales success of casual games on Nintendo's Wii and DS is an "extremely profitable" business for Ubisoft, according to the company's CEO Yves Guillemot, who told Reuters at the Games Convention in Leipzig last week that these games help to finance the costly development of games for Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3.
Guillemot explained that the development of casual games costs anywhere from 1 million euros to 4 million, depending on how many platforms they're being created for. By comparison, a normal Wii game costs about 5 to 10 million euros, while an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 one costs from 10 million to 20 million.
Casual games are expected to contribute 20% of Ubisoft's revenue this year, which is up 10% on last year. Meanwhile, the entire games industry is attracting many more customers which are, according to Guillemot, "going to grow the market tremendously. I expect the market to grow by 50 percent in the next four years," he said, concluding, "It's a very exciting time for all the developers and publishers."
I wish it was that exciting for us gamers Ubisoft.

Compare games to past generations yes, comparing scores - what's the point? Prime now would not score 9.8 now will it? Different factors come into play. Also, don't get so bogged down with a couple of decimal points.
What they have to say is far more important and informative.
I just saw the gametrailers review and it is awesome.
You speak a lot of sense, my friend.
By the way many spoilers?

im never going to buy anything from Microsoft again the xbox360 is total crap i bought a new game 5 days ago ( Blue dragon ) and now my 360 has the crappy 3 lights of death problem im going to Sue the company
i never had any problems with my wii
its a shame that all the best games are for 360 if they where for the ps3 with online mode also i would have bought a ps3 , but the only things i hear when a game is anounced for both consoles you hear ( EXCLUSIVE FOR 360 ONLINE MULTIPLAYER not for ps3 ) :S the next generation i leave the next console from microsoft in the stores
I wasn't sure how big this problem was. Makes me more hesitant about going Wii60

Who has watched the gametrailers review, because I really don't want any spoilers.

Thank you Dante, that was exactly what I was getting at with IGN! I suppose a picture really does say a thousand words!
I wasn't being 'picky' as some would say, I was simply pointing out the fact that IGN seem to be ever so slightly tougher on Nintendo games.
As I said before, Matt and co. seem to try and overcompensate by giving slightly lower scores as if to rpove they're not being fanboys.
Two different reviewers, looking at the numerical reading alone gives an unfair representation because of this. Matt and Bozon have started to rate in 0.5 increments so AAA games usually get 8.5 or 9.0 or 9.5, whereas other reviewers tend to give 0.1's and 0.2's.

It's a fantastic score, but considering the game has next to no faults, you can see why people would question a .5 deduction.
At the moment it's score is equal to Twilight Princess, which has obvious flaws!
And surely Prime 3 beats Twilight Princess in terms of Wii-mote controls, graphics and possibly music?
It has an equal score, yet they say its the best game on Wii.
Come on, why do you care about an insignificant 0.5.
-
What's wrong with 9.5? It's an amazing score. I don't see the problem.
Neither do I. This really pisses me off sometimes that people take more prevalence in a 'score' than a written apprasial, they've praised the game much higher than any numerical assessment could ever do justice.
Would you rather they say its NOT better than Metroid Prime and it get a 9.8?

I haven't read all the old posts here, but here's a link to another great review of Corruption.
http://shacknews.com/featuredarticle.x?id=530
I will definitely get this on launch and will dust of Prime and Echoes before then. I never completed either but rate them both as my fave GC games.
Thanks for that fantastic review, expertly written and very insightful.

Come on guys lets not squablle over a few 0.1's I've know this forum to act better than that. (excluding Solitantze) IGN gave it a fantastic review said its the best game on Wii, it surpasses the Metroid Prime 1 which in itself speaks volumes, best FPS controls on any console period.
What more do you want?
Wow... just wow. In the review, they said the graphics surpass any other Wii game, and that it would look fantastic on any other next- gen console. MP3 is awesome, and it shows that some good art goes a long way.One thing I didn't like about the review is their failure to mention sound. Mp's eery, dark music is fantastic, and is part of the reasons why I love MP.
Nevertheless, I'm getting this game, good musik or not.
They gave sound a ten, that in itself speaks volumes. and they did mention sound.
The musical score by Kenji Yamamoto fits the atmosphere very well. It's more grandiose than it's been in previous Prime titles and yet there are some throwbacks that fans will like. For instance, when Samus enters a beautiful snow-filled scene, a remix of the song that originally played at the Phendrana Drifts chimes in the background. When I read that my face lit up in excitement Phendrana Drifts has one of the best musical scores ever composed and is just beautiful to look at. I just love snow in Video games:heh:
PLUS
SoundThe score by Kenji Yamamoto is as moody as ever, even featuring throwbacks to some previous games. The sound effects are punchy and the voice acting is well implemented.
:P

I bet Gamespot will give it 8.2, Great!
Who gives a shit what they think !?
-
1up with 9.0
"Amazing as it is to say about a Wii game, Corruption contains some of the best visuals in gaming, period".
They ate thier words really quickly :p
-
Didn't sound that upset.
Yeh, I agree you guys took it too far.
-
This is ridiculous now.
They have lost all credibilty from me, they can go stuff thier ports.
-
I would love a sensor bar with a stronger signal. The signal on mine barely reaches my sofa and even then its not smooth enough.
