  2. How was your day?

I drove up to Hull to see my girlfriend today. I was pleasantly surprised to find Hull actually quite a nice place (who knew) and it may possibly make it into one of my 5 uni choices. It sort of reminds me of a northern version of Plymouth. There was one odd bit though. There was one guy in the gents that was constantly staring at me whilst i was having a wassle. He put me off and i couldn't go, damn my shy cock!. He then asked me how i was and followed me out... it was weirder that it sounds.
  3. How was your day?

Ahh right, that's okay then. So even if I'm applying for 5 different Universities and they all come back unconditional, am i still able to choose? All I need now is to write a personal statement (Urgh), slap my Uni's in and get a reference ... and wait a year.
  4. How was your day?

I went to the Biosciences talk which was a lot more interesting than the previous course i was on, i actually felt quite intelligent. I then had a gander 'round the library, labs and accommodation. Accommodation was a bit on the pricey side for what you get, but overall not too bad. What talks are you planning on going to? Also what other Universities you looking at? I'm looking to go somewhere northerner than Nottingham if i can help it, so possibly Leeds, Manchester, Hull, Hallam/Sheffield, Huddersfield... etc. The trouble is they're open days aren't until 2010 now :S @ nightwolf, J7: I'm sure it'll be down as one of my 5 choices so i'll maybe take you up on that offer. Actually how would the UCAS process go since i already have my grades? Apply for 5 Uni's, get Unconditional offers, then choose one?
  5. How was your day?

I'm going tomorrow :P Yay for being in the same boat. :|
  6. How was your day?

Ye it's crap. :/ Nah it's my first year, i've been at uni 3 weeks now and decided the course just isn't for me. The uni i'm at doesn't have the course i want to do, so the only option is to drop out for a year and reapply. I don't like this idea of a year out as i feel like i'm a year behind and that i've failed (i know i'm not,but i feel like i am). Atleast i'll be able to scrape some money together this year. To the job centre i go, yaaaaay :/
  7. How was your day?

[Moan] Shit day. As some of you may know i moved from UEA to Lincoln Uni after feeling that UEA wasn't the place for me. Well i've now realised that it wasn't the Uni that was the problem, but the course. Currently I'm doing computer science and in all honesty it is the most boring subject i've ever studied. Biology is/was my strong point at A level and i really wish i had followed this subject up at Uni. The problem is Lincoln doesn't do a Biology degree i want to do. I talked to a Uni adviser today who pretty much said that I lowered my expectations by transferring from UEA to Lincoln. He advised dropping out and reapplying next year, gaining experience throughout the year and finding out what i actually want to do. To be honest I'd prefer not to wait a year until i can start again, but i can't see any other option other than sticking it out on a course i don't like, which would be a huge waste of money and time. Basically i feel crap knowing that it's my own fault and i have to wait a year to start again. [/Moan]
  8. How was your day?

I was 'learning' what "to the power of 2" meant the other day. To be honest I'm not sure about my course at all. I'm on the same course as someone who got EEC in their A levels, Universities shouldn't be that lenient. That kind of makes me feel a bit crap knowing that as i worked pretty hard to get BBB. 280 points to get in my arse.
  9. Birthday Wishes

    Cheers guys <3
  10. Mobile Phone Chat

I have this phone as well and find it great for everything i need it for. The only problem i have found would be the stylus has started to become really loose in it's holder and slips out too easily.
  11. Buying a tablet

There are wacom tablets in Aldi stores tomorrow: http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/2827_11342.htm?WT.mc_id=2009-09-25-16-40
  12. University Thread 2009/10

Either Sheffield or Lincoln if i can, i managed BBB so i should be fine with a lot of the courses if there are spaces left. I've only contacted Lincoln so far and they do have spaces and a few rooms in halls available so I could go there. The accommodation at UEA is sorted. Because i told them I'm moving out in the first week (just) of the contract i won't be charged any fee's, same goes for the course. I'm one of the many people who have had student finance problems. I sent off my birth certificate as proof of who i am in June, which they later returned with a letter saying everything was okay. About 2 week ago i contacted them to check everything was fine and they say they haven't received it at all and it will be another 4 weeks until they process it again. So yeah my student finance is screwed anyway and I probably won't even see it until 4/5 weeks time so i can't see that being a major problem *touches wood*.
  13. University Thread 2009/10

Good luck! I'm going to switch Uni. This morning i asked to be put into clearing, and I'm going somewhere "up north". UEA isn't for me, i don't like the feel of the place even if it does look nice. Coming from a working class town in the north doesn't mix too great either, with the majority of privately educated southerners down here either (This isn't the main problem). I just feel too out of place. I may sound like a whiny git, but i know i'd happier else where.
  14. University Thread 2009/10

I need some advice people. I started UEA on Sunday and my flats great, the campus is nice, the course is the course I want to do, the problem is I don't know if i want to do it here. I foolishly put UEA as my firm based on a teacher talking me into it, as "it's a better Uni" than my insurance (Lincoln). Never thinking I'd actually get the grades to get in I put it down. Results day arrived and i somehow managed to get the grades (BBB) so I was off to UEA. Now this came as a huge shock to me as I never thought it was realistic, so I feel as if i've been thrown into it. I will admit it is my own fault, i never actually attended an open day, but i did look around the campus and city. Although both are very nice, it just doesn't feel like the place for me. I never planned on moving this far away (3 1/2 hour drive), so adding things up i just feel I'd be better doing the same course somewhere else, be it Sheffield, Lincoln, Nottingham etc just somewhere else (northern) I know if i go and talk to someone here (like my adviser, who i thought came over as a bit of a stuck up prick) I'd get a "You're homesick, you need time to settle in, give it until Christmas". But the thing is I'm not feeling home sick, It's just the feel of the place and people which doesn't sit right with me. I don't want to drop out and wait a year which is why i have rung a few Uni's and they say it would be possible for me to swap to them now. I need advise :S
  15. New Desktop PC

I'm off to Uni a week today (arrgh) and I'm after a desktop PC. What I'll be using it for will be gaming, photoshop and whatever else comes with studying Computer Science. I don't mind building one. I have had a look on Ebuyer at pre-made and found this one: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/173367 (Also this one: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/167290 but I can't see why it's more money for half the hard drive size) It's been ages since i've looked what's good on the hardware front, so I'm wondering if I would be able to build better for the same £££? Cheers
  16. New Desktop PC

I have a question: Would it be better to go for a Quad Core (such as the Q8200 @ 2.33Ghz) or a high end Dual Core?
  17. Some 360/speaker setup help needed

From what others have said i gather you will need: For the 360: VGA Cable (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-360-High-Definition-Cable/dp/B000AYYADE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1252945071&sr=8-1) Which also includes the RCA cables (for sound). To allow the audio to be used with your speakers you will need a RCA to 3.5mm adapter (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1218) and a stereo coupler (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1213). A Female RCA to female 3.5mm would be easier but i can't seem to find any. As for the Wii, VGA box or that VGA cable.
  18. New Desktop PC

Ahh :S well if the quality of the Zoo Storm isn't too great then i'd rather build one. I haven't built one myself, but my brother's built a few and they seem to work (well for about a year anyway). I'm doing Computing Science at UEA, although i'll probably delve into more specific multimedia modules as time goes on. I don't currently game on my PC (my desktops still a 1.7ghz single core, 512mb ram, 40gb hhd job, so runs WoW on low settings) However I would like the ability to game if i wanted to. Thanks for the help peeps.
  19. Exam results 2009

    Math - B ICT - B Biology - B B...eautiful.
  20. Exam results 2009

Bloody hell I wasn't expecting that.
  21. Exam results 2009

I'm after BBB myself. Maths - Messed up big time, C4 was a bastard and C3 wasn't much better. I'm hoping mechanics will save me some what. I'm thinking the B I got at AS will most likely fall to D at A level. Which ruins my chances of the first choice (UEA). ICT - Based on the teachers marking I should get a B, however i don't trust her at all so i'm thinking a C here. Biology - I think I've got a B here, maybe an A, you never know. Ahh well, there's always clearing.
  22. Pokemafia 2 - The Conversion of Justice

No i'm here, i just have no information to add to the thread.

  24. Post Your Purchases

Yeah, it stopped reading games. Apparently Sony don't repair them, so it was either a refurb for that price or have it repaired independently for £99.
