That sounds really crappy Platty, i'm so sorry. I know exactly how you must be feeling as a similar thing happened to me earlier this year, also around 7 years together and get the 'we need to talk' speech. There's nothing anyone can say to make you feel better right now, just know that time will make it better, you will get over it, you will meet someone else and you will look back at those 6 and a half years as a chapter in your life that contributed to who you are today and made you stronger and wiser where relationships are concerned. Trust me, i know. Mine ended earlier this year, maybe not as hurtful as yours as i wasn't planning a wedding or even thinking about doing so, but here we are today, i'm with someone else and feeling pretty damn happy. They say it takes a month for every year you were together to truly be okay, and although i dont believe in any of that, it was pretty much 7 months after my break up that i met my current gf. Weird. Besides, you're awesome :awesome:

6-8 hours is good. Some weekends I will stay in bed for 10-12 hours and I don't feel any better rested, on the contrary I feel more knackered than before!

Absolutely amazing day The problem with staying friends is she will always wonder if she is leading you on, therefor might choose not to see you for your own good no matter what you say. It can work though, if you meet somebody else/prove some other way that you're not still pining for her.

I'm with animal, have chatted to a few girls and have developed a bit of a relationship with one now. The weird thing is, how do you make that distinction from online dating to 'couple'? It seems like we are getting pretty couply, though only met her 3 times, the things she says imply she's really into this, and we plan to go to Alton towers on Sunday, which would normally be a big thing I guess but with her it's just normal as we always have fun. Who knows, I shouldn't get caught up in the relationship game, she's an awesome girl and we're having fun. Worked so far

I've not had to do it, but my work mate is currently in one with an American girl and he hates it. Was easy at first he said but it just gets harder and harder. I know why people try it though, and power to those experiencing it, but don't you wonder why you're not together in the same place? If you love this person then what is it in this world that is more important than that? A job? A degree? Surely these things just make your seperation grow bigger every day. I'm a bit of a romantic, so i'd like to think i'd just pack my bags and move. Lets face it, that has to happen at some point anyway so why not do it earlier rather than later and have more time to settle? If that isn't on the cards for either party then I think they're both wasting each others time.

One word... drink! It's the best fail safe in that situation. If you're both getting drunk, increase the flirting as the night goes on, drop in a few compliments as well, the old 'i never noticed how ... you are' line for example and then try your luck with a kiss near the end of the night. At the end of the day, if it goes badly, you can say you were drunk, then again if it goes well, you've broken that ice and can discuss it the next day. If you dont drink, then i think you just have to come out with it. It's a matter of timing though. You'd have to do it at a time when you're both relaxed and having a laugh. It cant be too intense either - if you sit her down and be all like "ive liked you for ages now, how do you fee?" she's gonna freak. Something half-joking would be better to test the water, while you're both laughing just say like 'we'd be a good couple you know!" and watch her reaction like a hawk.

Awesome! Nice one. I've been messaging a few girls who only reply once a week. It's really annoying! Like why the hell did you sign up and only log in at the weekend or whenever. I thought they weren't interested or i'd said something to put them off, but each week they come back, reply once and bugger off again! Anyway, i met that other girl on sunday. She wasn't a man afterall! haha. We had a pretty good time. Not sure about it all though yet. May see her again this weekend and see how it develops.

The only instance of racism I've come across was at uni. Me and my gf at the time lived with an African guy, and he for some reason had no respect for white girls. Any problems he had to do with the house etc he would only talk to me as the man, and he would say derogatory comments to her and about all white girls in general, that they were generally sluts etc etc makes you think well why the hell did he move here if he hates the local girls so much really. I'm mixed race myself so I like to joke and play the middle ground when it comes to racial banter (only with friends of course!).

Yeh you're absolutely right, I've thought that myself before. I guess the difference is if you meet in a club or whatever it's not necessarily a date, you're still with friends, and if you're set to go on a blind date, you still have a mutual friend in the equation. Online it's a pure stranger. I don't mind it myself, and I would ask to meet girls earlier but being a guy i think it makes me sound creepy/after one thing.

Been messaging a girl for a few days and she wants to meet already this weekend. I'm a bit surprised by that! I would never suggest a meeting so soon. Not sure what to make of it, i feel as if I should play it cool and say im busy, but then again it would be fun to just meet and see how it goes rather than waste loads of time messaging back and forth for ages. She doesn't even seem like a player, nor would i think she was the desperate kind as shes really hot and cool. She has her own business so maybe she's just busy and a go-getter? I duno, but hey, can't hurt to check it out right?!

Depends how you want to sound kaytee, nonchalant or not. That message is fine for sounding like you are thinking about taking it further, like 'what's taking you so long to ask me out punk!' In a nice way. Which can work, and would get a definite answer either way. However you could play it safe and just drop in a few hints in conversation about getting together. Up to you really, say whatever you feels right!
