  1. 3D Modelling Thread

No worries man........you didn't come across badly at all. Your input is muchly appreciated like everyone elses. I don't suppose you've got a link to that have ya.......as I wouldn't mind checking it out.
  2. PES 5

I'm going to wait for a promo copy to fall into my hands in a few months time like I did lastyear. I'm looking forward to finally having the chance to play the PS2 version online.
  3. 3D Modelling Thread

Pixar use their own in-house software along with their Renderman tools. Dunno about the others, but I would have thought Valve do the same, considering the versatility of the SDK's they released. Sorry, forgot to add. I would go nowhere near saying that any of these so called "other " programs are in anyway inferior to XSI. For example, Bizarre Creations used Lightwave throughout PG3's development.
  4. Well our first concrete date for it was originally the 21st (this fri), then that changed to the 28th. I can only see Sony telling them to delay it so they can get PSP's out to the shops for it's launch....................as the whole point of this GTA game is to sell hardware up to Christmas. But I have yet to hear of it being delayed till the 4th November. If it's definitly been delayed by a week, then I'll know for sure by this Friday coming......as I'm sure a bulletin will be posted on my works intranet.
  5. there's nothing to watch on tv anymore

Like dukkadukka said, "suppose it just goes to show that one person's shit is another's treasure."
  6. Well over the last year or so I've started to drift away from epic games, and that's including RPG's which used to be my most favourite genre. TOS for example, I've just got upto the end of disc one, and spent nearly 50hrs playing it. Now that for me isn't fun................it becomes a chore, just like Gran Turismo does. I've still got both Final Fantasy 10 & X2 waiting to be played through (yeah, I know I said I would do it over the summer), but I just can't bring myself to play through these games or any other sort of game like that. Now games like Burnout, Meteos, WarioWare, Pro Evo can bring me back time and time again, but they don't require ultimate dedication and loss of my social life. I'm now 20 years old, and I just don't have the time to sit infront of the box for 5-8hrs a day playing videogames...................maybe 5-6 years ago I may of during secondary school. The DS for me has been a blessing. I can just quickly pick up and play whenever I want, and I'm not tied down to dedicating 2hrs or so at a time. Now you moan about not getting your moneys worth, but take a look at the DVD market. Brand new DVD's typically go for £14.99 or so for 2hrs max of entertainment, now put that in perspective with the games we are all buying at £29.99 a pop and it all doesn't seem too sad. If it's still a problem, then nowdays PS2 platinum titles go for £14.99, and these titles usually go down to that price shortly after a year from the titles original release. There's some bargains to be had there. ....and good topic by the way!
  7. 3D Modelling Thread

It really isn't a case of "which program is better" when you first start getting into 3D modelling. The only difference tends to be the interface with each program, and they can all achieve similar results (bar Blender, Wings3D) if the user is a master of the art....... 3DStudio/Maya/XSI are all industry standards as far as programs go, as they're used in the games you play and the movies you watch today. Blender and Wings3D on the other hand are freeware, and are very ideal for anyone interested in getting into the art. But these programs can't produce the same results as the industry heavyweights..................but they were never intended for that use anyway. I recommend getting hold of Blender, as unlike Wings3D, you can still map textures and render your results. Wings is purely a modelling program. I've never used it before, but I've heard very good things about it considering it's freeware. I use Maya because I also use it at college, which makes perfect sense really. And if you're interested in Maya or Max, then I think both their respective websites offer learning editions of the software for free..............but bare in mind that your renders will be watermarked to prevent you making a profit from your work.
  8. there's nothing to watch on tv anymore

At the moment I'm addicted to watching the OC every weekday at 6pm on E4, and if I miss that then I can just watch E4+1 because it's an hour behind. And the same goes for Lost. I just can't get enough of that. 24 also kicks arse aswell.
  9. Halo Character Pics in DOA4!

That's exactly it..........read the books and it'll make sense.........or so I've been told!
  10. Halo Character Pics in DOA4!

Lead Animator on Halo 2 also confirmed it to some people.....I won't say who though.
  11. Titles you'd like to see on Revolution

Killer7 would fit the Revolution controller perfectly. I will love Capcom forever if they actually go ahead with such an idea.
  12. Recommend me some music, breres.

Check out Jade Tree Records label...........there's some quality music to your ears on there, especially These Arms Are Snakes, and Statistics. Jade Tree
  13. BMX

I've thought about bringing it up before, but like you said Caris..............it's quite a long shot. I've yet to get my own set-up, but getting a Ruben sig frame off of my mate at the end of the month, and the rest of my mates have got spare parts hanging around............so I should be pretty sorted. I'm well psyched about taking it up, and over the last couple of months I've been scooting around on my mates bike. You going backyard next week by any chance Caris?
  14. Do you reccomend i buy a mac mini?

The Mac Mini's have got Radeon 9200's in them, so they are more than capable of handling Halo. I can even run Halo on my Radeon 7000. Apparently, Apple are going to be upgrading the Mac Mini's over the coming months, so it may be worth waiting a short while so you get more bang for your buck.
  15. Killer7...What the Hell???

I loved the controls on Killer7.................it just felt a whole lot more easier to navigate, and kind of makes you wonder why other 3rd person games haven't adopted the same approach, instead of making the player run around the same location 20 times just to find an item. I don't know why so many reviewers cained the controls either.
  16. 3D Modelling Thread

I've got no experience with Blender at all, but I had a look at their homepage, and found the manual on there. If you haven't looked through it yet, then I recommend you do, as it looks like there's quite abit of info on there which may be of use to you. Also check the forums there, as you may be able to find someone else who's got a similar problem. Blender HTML manual Blender Forums At the moment I'm working on a seal character in college. Added a bone structure aswell to the main body and the flippers. It's about half-way from completion, but the main tasks for me now are to add an environment, and to animate the final result. Here's the wireframe of the same model. I've also got an "aim constraint" in the scene aswell (circled), which is grouped with the eyes. So when it finally comes to animating, I plan to then add a ball into the scene and then set the aim constraint to that object, so wherever the ball goes the seal will have his eyes moving and focusing on it as it bounces....etc. ...and Eenuh, I'm loving your whale model you made...................and it looks like you'll enjoy rigging that beast aswell. (well I would :P)
  17. 3D Modelling Thread

Sorry I haven't bothered to keep on this thread in a while.................but from what people have posted so far, it all looks like everyone is moving along quite nicely. In reference to your image Minlack, I'm wondering if that's a screen capture from one of the view ports, or if you've rendered it? I've got an extensive lesson tomorrow afternoon, so hopefully I may have something up in the evening. Also I've updated the original post on page one because of the growing size of this thread, and if you could all take 2mins to give it a goose then that'll be much appreciated. Cheers
  18. Molyneux again on the Revolution Controller

Surely he's thinking about porting Black & White 2 then. This is the second positive comment to come from Lionhead Studios since the controllers unveiling............which surely points to Lionhead having atleast one title in planning stages at the moment.
  19. Yeah I agree with you on that. Windows ME was just a complete mess, while Windows 2000 was very much up there with the current XP in my regards, but it's not the best OS to run daily programs which either the family wants to use or if you're a gaming savvy. The spy/adware, virus problems are to be expected aswell with any popular OS, and I just think that it's unavoidable to prevent and impossible to some extent for Microsoft to get it under control. I'm in no rush to change my current OS to Vista, and it's also been confirmed that SP3 for XP is due out around the time of Vista's launch. The only thing holding me back from purchasing a Mac is Alias' dodgy Maya build for it, aswell as Adobe not supporting Premiere on the OS anymore (although there is FinalCut available). So in other words, I'm currently more than happy to continue using Windows.
  20. Looks very much OSX inspired.
  21. First of all that router won't work, as it's an ADSL router. You need a Cable/DSL one, that'll be a good start. I use a Belkin F5D7230UK4 with my Telewest connection, and it works a treat. Belkin Cable Router It's out of stock on ebuyer at the mo, but they usually have it in stock, or you could look elsewhere for a similar device.
  22. Killer7...What the Hell???

I'm glad to hear to people are still picking this game up even months after it's release. Just play the game, and don't worry yourself about the story the first time through, as it'll eventually make some sort of sense in the end. As it goes, I wouldn't mind playing through it again...................... Edit - I wish I could offer some better advice, but this game pretty much depends on the user and how you see it. In the Killer7 thread on the old forum, people were having alot of mixed ideas about the story as it's just so deep. ....and yes, it will fuck with your head (that's the part everyone who plays it has in common).
  23. Obese pigeon

I ran a pigeon over in my car once. It wouldn't move, so I slowly drove up to it thinking it would fly off and it never did. Heard it skwelch and crack as I ran it over. But they do call them rats with wings afterall...........so it's no big loss.
  24. £1000+ a month on eBay!

Go on...........spill the beans you little devil!
  25. Dont you hate it....

I can't believe the shoddy quality of some of the posts there............I expected alot more from the official Codemasters forum. But I have to say, Codemasters titles are generally average nowdays, so it's no great loss. For the last 4 years or so aswell they've been going through financial difficulty, so they can't really defend their choices in the past as being the right ones.
