  1. I bought the AOC one mentioned on here awhile back. Have to say I'm blown away by the amount of features this TV has. And for less than £300. It's a great buy. I know some of you didn't like the outer casing but it's a fabulous TV that actually looks great.

  2. I remember the big games getting 4 pages worth of reviews. And it was ALL interesting. Now it's moer like a 'flash' preview with a score popped on the end for good measure. I liked it when you bought a magazine and it was thick lol. Kind of like EDGE. (Yet that is only thick because of it's heavy focus on job openings in the industry.)

I erally don't know if I like EDGE anymore. They seem more interested in talking in-depth about tech and not about the "fun" of games. Maybe I'm jaded when in comes to EDGE. I bought it for years but decided that nearly £5 was too much on, mostly; adverts. I think when it comes to looking for jobs in the industry I'll start buying it again.

  3. This thread piqued my (ever thinking) interest levels....Because I am older (24!) and regards myself as a bit of an oldie I was wondering...

Do the younger generation of UK Nintendo gamers (as well as older readers) still regard NGamer as the most honest and trustworthy publication when it comes to games previews/reviews?

They've certainly had some good opinions in their time and they have always maintained that a game will be honestly scored. The Star Fox Adventures debate was a good one back in the day (Especially when they made a cut-out 98% (?) for those who disagreed with the low score they gave it).

I loved their Mario 64 review when it closed saying that it was a treat to be born in the same timeline as the game was released, and told you to thank your parents. They summed it up as 'tsfum tsfum' or something similar as words were impossible to describe how good it was. And OoT was the Citizen Kane of videogames. They certainly garnered my respect as a reader through their honesty and genuine-ness. But do people now regard message boards/IGN/N-Europe etc as a better indication of a game?

I love NGamers reviews and I STILL trust them 99.9%. Do you?

  4. Sweet! The more options the better I say. This looks like being the most option-laden game of all time. Customisation is the future :)

When Smash Bros is on top form it feels like a violent ballet. With all the added options this should finally blow all other fighters away and finally garner the respect amongst the hardcore fighting crowd that it surely deserves.

The daily-posts (and added humour) have been a brilliant idea and I feel they will become as standard with many other big-name titles as the sheer word of mouth these daily updates create is pioneering. This kind of "free" advertising is at the forefront of future games advertising. Developer Blogs are great, but the daily drip-feeding of Smash Bros is something we will all look back on.

  5. Well they had better be good. It would be nice to think they were along the lines of:

    "follow me"

    "I've got the Bends"

    "I need the loo"

    "Let's go find the Titanic?"

    and

"did you see that motherf***%$! shark!!"

Knowing Nintendo it will be UP,DOWN,LEFT,RIGHT,HOME!

  6. Ah, I see.

So we become subjected to the following picture...

But Nintendo won't allow wifi "free scrawling"! incase we all swear at each other and draw large phallic objects onscreen. We will probably get a universal choice of "thumbs up/thumbs down/ok sign".

Either way, this could be a fun little tool :D I'm thinking treasure hunts :p

  7. This is looking gorgeous. Having recently re-watched Finding Nemo I just hanker for some underwater exploration. It would be nice to just bask in the swell of the waves on the surface whilst listening to some Enya (Insert relaxing music here) on the SD card.

Infact... Remember when Excitetruck came out and we were all talking about what tracks to listen to whilst playing it? This could be a great way to find out a new band whilst swimming along the EAC (dude!) with a buddy. I'm hedging bets now on laid back tracks like Groove Armada: At the Beach etc...

I remember them talking about the colouring pen situation but I thought it was for drawing on rocks, boats and whales backsides etc?...What does the following screenshot hint at? I'm perplexed as to the reason behind drawing "on" the screen...

  8. I recently came back to this too...Initially to listen to music and just do the HUGE Canada level and the one where the canyon cracks...God I love those tracks :D

I still stand firm that Excite truck is a fantastic game which just keeps on reminding me of old school fun. Speaks volumes that we all clamour for a sequel! The controls are brilliant fun too and it just makes me think that Motorstorm played boring in comparison.

  9. Agreed. I'm suprised people actually accepted Kylie Mini-vogue again. It should be forgotten forever. God it was awful. Saying that....I actually enjoyed the Mortal Kombat films for their....erm....Actually, they were just half decent brawl movies like a Steven Seagull movie. Nowt spesh.

  11. Integrating something like a spinning bird kick on film is just a horrific, horrific idea. The thought of that screams utter "SHITE". If they try to make this a fan-service they are setting themselves up for a fall. Anime works in this mannerism as boundaries can be broken. Live action just doesn't work when it comes to the unrealistic video game world. As previously stated, having Ryu/Ken/Dan on a path along the original idea of the game would have been far better. I feel THIS would work:

    • [list=]The more fights that are won by (insert character) the more money the character attains and complexities of richness enter. Richness/Happiness/loss of fighting attitude (ala Rocky) works. Keep it simple though!

    • [list=]Guile MUST be considered as a NAILS character!!

[list=]Beating up cars/brick walls in frustration MUST NOT occur.

    And so on....

    See? Much better.

  12. It really seems like their isn't enough Mii love. I guess we've all grown to love them? It seems like they need MORE games. If they are in a game they are seemingly as peripheral characters. I want Mii focused games. For instance Mario Party would have been perfect as 'Mii Party' and EA's playground would have been much better with Mii's. I'm hoping Nintendo will really use Mii characters to launch NEW! ideas ala Wii Fit and Music yet keep them in traditional games. As we saw, the Mii idea was initially on the DS so I was expecting heavy usage of the Mii idea from the off for the Wii. They've had plenty of time. (Even with ideas dating back to the 64DD paint/animation tools)

Are Nintendo ignoring Mii characters more than they should be?

  13. Indeed, as previously stated, Mii paintball training or something similar would have been a nicer effort but there are probably STILL a bunch of issues on people mimicking shooting their mates. (Damn America!) But I dont think Nintendo would ever put Link in a poor game and especially to launch a product they (and other devs) obviously have faith in. Bring it on. I just wonder if their will be lon-lon ranch, Hyrule field/lake etc featuring as 'souped up' locales.

  14. Generally the music/chords you've laid down can create a "mood" that the lyrics can drop into. You're generally not going to find songs about lollypops and rainbows in minor chord songs. But as stated it's independant on the person. I just sit and sing randomly whilst strumming/tinkling the chords. Over and over again until something sticks. What may be cheesy to you may be beautiful to someone else. It's all about the confidence and delivery. You can have terrible words but if the melody is memorable you can get away with murder. That's my take on it. If you take everything around you and just think heavily about the world/situations through your own eyes, I'm sure these ideas lead to more ideas and so on and so on....It will come :)

Always carry a notepad and pen/cil. Lyrics come when you least expect it lol. I was dreaming about the army the other day and they were all fake armies. (?!) I came to the conclusion of an 'action figure army' and so I wrote about the whole thing and then played along to thoughts and standout pointers with "action figure army" being the chorus. Thus turning into a song. I learnt to keep paper at hand from reading Paul McCartneys Autobiography. Always helpful.

  15. Just a note about the wiimote I feel developers and gamers should possibly note/respect more. It's the simple fact of MOVING the wiimote in midair. It's almost like an in-space controller offering many possibilities. And making the lack of buttons redundant.

The slamming gesture in Mario Strikers felt brilliant and MILES better than pressing a button to tackle. You're involved see? FIFA has the opportunity for jostling with other players via subtle spacial gestures. And saving penalties with a combination of nunchuck/wiimote movements in set directions (mimicking real-life diving) like the throw-ins. Therein lies the Wii genius. The ideas, the refreshing breath put into old franchises. Opportunity and FUN!

I'm looking forward to this one.

  16. This thread has fallen into sheer ...well, disrepute. The thought provoking, intellectual threads get 50 posts yet this has over 200. I'm going back to the drawing board. Let's just create controversy! Battallion Wars Wii will NOT sell hardly any units. Or how about Wii Fit is just eye toy for your feet. Wow, it's suddenly so easy to create threads with over 200 thought provoking, interesting points. Am I missing something? I guess a good argument is what really pushes people to say what they think. Verociously!
