  1. In regards to items ruining the game, are we talking about Grand Prix mode only?

I've found that online is more about skill -- hence why the cream rises to the top in the overall points tally.

Quick race mode is also fine as you can pretty much set the items as you wish.

I can see the issues with GP mode as it can be brutal...especially on 150cc. But when hasn't it been?

Outside of that, there are plenty of ways to customise and enjoy the game.

Now we just need Battle Mode DLC and, as others have said, it will be even better!

  2. Just give me a Disney Infinity-esque Nintendo NFC game and I'd be happy. Infinity is incredible but does, in parts lack the finesse that Nintendo bring to their 3D worlds.

Packs for Mario worlds/Zelda dungeons/Metroid planets/F-Zero or Mario Kart tracks would be heavenly.

You could have Arwings/Epona/Link's items/Mario power ups as items in the game. Having a Link figure in an Arwing with a Catsuit on would be worth the price of entry alone!

  3. Nintendo should hold off releasing future consoles until they have a 3D Mario, Zelda or Mario Kart game ready to rock. Just shows how important these franchises are. :indeed: I do think it's more to do with genres and their perceptions. Gamers seem to require racers/sports games/shooters and epic 3D worlds to explore. 2D platformers and party games obviously don't shift consoles anymore.

  4. Yeah was just about to come in. Checked again and jimbob popped up (with a TERRIBLE time ;) )... So maybe it just needs time to upload the times... But it's still insanely clumsily handled! And are all friends at the bottom? Or do they get mixed in with everyone else? Maybe that's why I didn't see you, because you're out if my range.

Either way. It's ridiculous. I love time trialling, but without comparing with friends I won't touch it. I didn't touch the 3DS one for the same reason.

Nintendo did this with pikmin too, you can compare with the world, but not your friends... Just weird.

    It's just frustratingly, unnecessarily gimped.

Improved time...then friends don't appear as you guys aren't in the same time bracket. Yeah...totally borked!

  5. Among our friends yeah. Of course. It'd only the people around us. I want to see what the fastest person in the world is like. I want to see how good you are! I want to see where I place a,ing all my friends... It's a basic feature and essential to time trial. Without it the mode is pointless!

Shows me as top amongst friends. Seems cool. Not sure what you mean?

  6. WHAT? You don't like pikmin? I'd have bet my one and only nut that you'll would have loved that!

    Same with Wind Waker.... Crazy!

May just need to give it another chance. Not an RTS fan.

I loved Wind Waker but had to use an action replay disk back in the day to do the Triforce hunt. Think I may go for WW again if it's better. : peace:

  7. Totally can't decide between WW and Pikmin for the free game. Loved Windwaker on the GC until the dire triforce hunt.

Couldn't get into Pikmin on the GC/Wii but did enjoy the Nintendoland version immensely.

Not fussed or own the other games.

    Help an N-E brah out!

Also: bananas have increased in size since GM crop dusting started in the Mushroom kingdom.... :heh:

  8. I played a good battle game in the toad harbour map. Chaos as folk were teaming up in the 'village' part. Was good fun but still not a patch on the arenas. I'm sure they'll come via DLC. Nintendo need to prolong the life of their releases afterall. And the Mercedes DLC is surely just the start.

Yeah, the game is a masterpiece though. Second time I've felt like I'm playing something technically outstanding on the system..pipping the asset depth seen in DKCTF.

I actually like the GamePad integration (the screens down the side) and have had the pad below the TV with the map on it. Pro controller fits like a leather racing glove for this game though. Think I'll pick up a wheel for gf at the weekend though. Always fun for the casuals.

Also: time-trials should be like digital crack. Here's me on my favourite track:

  9. First cup, took out that blue shell. Amazing moment! :D

The game is stunning too. So slick. Everything fits together like a Swiss clock.

My childhood gaming never felt/looked THIS good...

  10. Having seen footage of Mount Wario a couple of weeks ago, I got the impression that it is likely to be one of my favourites too :hehe: It's got a bit of a 1080 Avalanche vibe :yay:

Yeah. The tree section is pure Golden Forest from the N64.

Nintendo should release new 1080's and Wave Race titles with this engine and retro cups.

  11. At least the frame rate should be decent. AC3/4 on PS3 weren't too good from my experience. I was surprised how much better AC4 was on WiiU was over the XBox and PS3 versions. At least Ubi generally do a good port.

  12. They'll probably do what they did with AC3/4. Maps/menus on GamePad and off-TV functionality.

Saw a guy today looking at this in Grainger Games with his wife and kids. It was £50 on PS4 and she was saying no way were they paying £50 for it. Dude was told to back away from the game and the little kids were asking if they could buy Killzone as it was cheaper.

Meanwhile I was looking at a lonely, corner shelf of £25-£40 WiiU games thinking Nintendo are completely out of touch with where this industry is. I left confused wondering if that was a good thing or not. Either way, having no WatchDogs on the shelf again puts WiiU in a less than healthy position when top tier games are on older systems that are cheaper. :indeed:
