  1. My game of the show so far. Looks incredible. Colourful Nintendo shooter done well. Am I dreaming?

Would love Amiibo functionality and Mii integration. Amazing how you can hide in a spot of ink!

N-E Splatoon nights will be fun.

  2. Looks good considering it's early. Nice to see something a bit different for the system and owing to the intro talks about war/religion/democracy, it should have some depth. EMP and school of democracy sounds good. Some technical info was given such as GamePad functionality for sharing information and communicating with other players.

Got a cheeky pic in our twitter feed...

  3. I think it's fair to say that. Even if it were an hour long, it would still feel short compared to the marathon long events that their rivals just had...

Were MS and SONY conferences that long? Wow! They didn't feel that long tbh. At the end of them I felt like I's just watched a few games being shown amongst a crap ton of concept adverts. :heh:

  4. reagarding ubisoft, if this secret game was any good then release it and help sell consoles. we are waiting for smash to sell more wii u's, that's kind of defeatist, plus how many consoles is enough, i'm sure they would be happy with mk8 numbers, so userbase is a bit misleading, plus they are fully supporting ps4 and xb1 which right now are at similar numbers.

Agree - it's the reverse of the Wii situation, which had the biggest userbase. :indeed:

The answer as to why they are releasing content on other systems may involve moneyhats? If some developers had to wear stickers of their sponsors like F1 drivers do, they'd be covered head to toe. :heh:

  5. Just read this fantastic post over at GAF (yup) and it pretty much sums up the industry at the moment.

Hyped for Nintendo's conference - at least I know I can watch Nintendo and indies without wincing at the amount of dead bodies on screen. :shakehead

    Bring the fun! : peace:

  6. How many Wii U games do you lot all have then???

    Retail:

    Nintendoland

    AC III

    AC IV

    Batman Arkham City

    Rayman Legends

    SM3DW

    Sonic Racing

    Mario Kart 8

    DKC: Tropical Freeze

    W101

    Pikmin 3

    FIFA 13

    Digital:

    Mysterious Cities of Gold

    Little Inferno

    F-Zero SNES

    Ducktales

    Pullblox World

Must say...having owned everything bar a 360 in the previous gen, I have a ridiculous amount of games for WiiU and with W101/SMW3D, Pikmin 3 and DKC:TF I've had some of the best gaming experiences in recent years.

When I was playing W101 I was just thinking 'this is unique and utterly incredible' before jumping into the multiplatform AC games and loving their familiarity. Times like that I love having a Nintendo console. Sure, it's rare to have the unique offerings that come with Nintendo consoles, but when you have such choices on a platter, the system is fantastic.

Also - the browser. Use it all the time. What a brilliant choice and as fast as my iPad with the latest update!

WiiU is great. Thing is, if Nintendo pull their finger out it could be even better!

  7. I'm a new PS4 owner as it quickly became evident that the Wii U wouldn't be getting the third party games that I wanted. No Alien: Isolation was the last straw.

I think I'll actually appreciate the Wii U a bit more as a result of this, because now it'll be my pure Nintendo machine. I won't need to feel angry about not getting the third party games because I can now get the best version on a different system, not some gimped Wii U edition. So, if Nintendo can look after themselves and get out their quality games, I'll be fine.

One last thing, getting a PS4 has made me realise just how much a wasted opportunity and a potential piece of garbage that the Wii U GamePad is. Trying the DualShock4, I don't miss having a touchscreen or a second screen at all. It's not integral to the gameplay. I'll be using the Pro Controller as much as I can from here on in, starting with Mario Kart. Nintendo have lost me on that one.

This is why I bought a PS3 during the Wii era...when the price dropped significantly enough and there was content that appealed to me. May be the same with the PS4 and although the PS3 ended up being a FIFA/PES and Journey/Flower machine - I'm still not sure if it was worth the price of admission. Although Heavy Rain & Uncharted 1/2 were experiences I adored.

Think this gen I'll wait until the end and pick up an XBone or PS4 cheap and catch up on their exclusives. At least then I'll have content to play while Nintendo have their usual slow launch!

  8. The ps4 and (to a lesser extent) the ones software is borderline abysmal in my opinion. A year in what will the ps4 actually have? Lots of last gen games, and a few new games, with only Infamous and potentially Driveclub (if that's your thing) being anything close to great. Yet it's selling. Marketing and psychology are so so important...

But yeah. Nintendo really need to take advantage of this, release as much as possible!

I'm not slagging those systems off in any way, but when games such as FIFA/COD/AC sell so much, is it any wonder devs put their titles back? It's like the Nintendo effect. Most developers don't want to go up against the AAA content. If the game ends up being better it's good for the gamers at the end of the day.

There seems like a lot of ports on the PS4/XBone though. Saddest thing is that their originals are on Sony/MS's prior consoles but they don't appear on the Wii or WiiU. This industry is stupid sometimes. Tomb Raider for example!

    :wtf:

  9. It's great they're updating this so much, and it is good. But STILL no friends online play is just so ridiculous... Nintendo are almost a parody of themseleves sometimes!

Nah, more like top of the agenda at all Nintendo meetings:

    1). Pi$$ off Dazzybee

    :heh:

  10.

Yeah it's crazy! It's almost like the entire industry is going on vacation till next year. 2014 is basically getting delayed till 2015 across the board!

They've probably realised you don't need software for the PS4 and XBone to sell, so they can just sit back and watch the user-base increase first. :heh:

  11. Yeah, I found that really strange when I seen it. It just seems completely random.

Is the Eldon Square store still godly though?

Used to love going in there for gaming sessions on the couches. A really nice setup if ever I saw one.

  12. Good result!

    Individual Format Top 5

A girl at work was talking about taking her son to the Watch Dogs midnight launch at a local supermarket. She was complaining about it being £50 and that you play a cyber terrorist. Erm, don't let your kid buy it then? Idiot-parenting that its best. ::shrug:

Ubisoft are booming tbf and it's great to see them still on the WiiU. How long for is another matter though.

They have successfully captured what people refer to as the 18-25 market, but haven't forgot their creative heritage through titles such as Rayman and Child of Light. They also make damn good games!

I also think that due to the support given by their government to embrace the medium of videogames, their business is solid and is paying dividends. It's amazing how some governments will support their industries. It's a shame that the UK didn't do enough to support their huge pool of talent, resulting in massive losses to its software developers. :indeed:

  13. HMV have reduced their games presence anyway, even the Metro Centre store had a tiny section for everything compared to what they used to have.

Yeah I find that strange as they now have the two pinball machines and walls of plushy dolls/figures. Because that's what consumers crave, right? ::shrug:
