  1. I always remember the 'What colour is the N64?' Discussion. Classic N-E gaming moment. Ok this was my thread, but it just went crackers in the end. One of my fav N-E moments. Page 3 it all kicks off resulting in charcoal, Obama, brown Gamecubes, jeans and Gandalf... http://n-europe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24568&page=3 I still have no idea what won out...
  2. Intrigued, even though, as Flink says - sounds like W101. I'm still waiting for Catroots, Nintendo's take on Tom and Jerry. So when it comes to new IP from Nintendo I don't believe it until I play it.
  3. Nintendo Direct - Tuesday 8th at 11pm

Yeah. Nintendo should do this with WiiU software. They had a golden (banana) opportunity to put a VC DKC game in with Tropical Freeze too to add some extra value to the purchase. But they seem to miss the obvious marketing opportunities in front of them. At least with the recent Mario Kart SNES deal, they seem to be thinking progressively.
  4. Mario Kart 8

Exactly the same thing for me...
  5. What Would You Change About Nintendo/With Nintendo?

I agree...the possibilities are vast: Daily brain training. The start up screen from Super Mario 64 would be a fun app. But with more character faces and the ability to morph your own face too. The Super Mario 64 DS mini games would work well on mobile. 1 Nintendog to download. An AR Chibi robo app. 42 all time classics is primed for mobile... And finally...if they are worried about mobile development just do a Warioware parody of mobile gaming. It could take the mickey out of the F2P and IAP model as well as offer lots of those amazing micro games in 1 package. Perfect!
  6. What Would You Change About Nintendo/With Nintendo?

Nintendo need to either re-imagine or re-engage with their consumer base through a new IP/Breakout hit ala Pokemon/Wii or do something new. They seem to be focusing on QOL for now indicating they have had their heads turned by their diminishing returns in the gaming space. Mobile technologies and multiple platforms are a great way for them to release IP and draw interest into their portfolio again. A Netflix-like VC would be godly and would be something they could release everywhere. (I appreciate the complexity of such a service before I get shot down.) As @Daft said, release their legacy titles first and maintain their current systems with the 'newer' versions. Of course, Nintendo can't even do this on their own console/handhelds so it is just wishful thinking tbh. Things need a shake up at Nintendo. Exciting times. Concerning times for the industry at large in my opinion. But that's what makes it such a fascinating industry to engage with.
  7. What Would You Change About Nintendo/With Nintendo?

Just team up with apple. Sex their hardware up, have some kind of Apple TV integration and sit back and let the money roll in...it would get them a foothold in the America's and have SONY and MS scared. Shockwaves would occur. The iOS approach to a constant development environment would be a good one. Unfortunately it could cannibalise sales of each platform. It's a tricky route to take...one that apple have negotiated effectively. Just an idea of course...
  8. What Would You Change About Nintendo/With Nintendo?

Some great comments here showing the general feeling toward Nintendo. A lot of what Nintendo do I love but what irks me the most is.. Over promising and under delivering. Sure, it's almost expected by companies who need to sell software and hardware. But it's getting ridiculous. Iwata/Reggie promise us that droughts won't occur and that Nintendo will make the changes. They promised increased third party support and it didn't occur. They feature on a gaming show and announce Cranky Kong. The unfortunate thing is that customers lose faith in the company. That's one of the most damaging factors happening to Nintendo. They keep making the same mistakes and it looks to have bit them in the ass. The better thing to do? Under promise and over deliver. Drop the entire Wii VC on the WiiU out of the blue. Announce MarioWorld and DKC DLC for release in the next few days. Online fansites, the media and certainly E3 is made for such occasions, yet they sit on their hands and let the buzz pass them by. Gamers are passionate customers. There is no reason not to be enticing them on to your platform with surprises and announcements that actually occur. Especially when you are supporting your console on your own.
  9. The Super Mario 3D World thread

    4play makes it last longer...
  10. Wii U General Discussion

Online FTW. Flink is right about the dying high street. not only do I have to drive to the place, but then you (as noted) have to pay to park and usually grab food too. As a WiiU owner you aren't always going to find the title you want either. I'd rather buy online for a better price and avoid the rank stores that have been bought as cheaply as possible in my local town.
  11. Wii U VC

All this MK love is nice to see. Best OST in the series too. Here are some awesome musicians, playing awesome MK tunes...
  12. Wii U General Discussion

    Yup...and your host is...
  13. Sonic Lost World (Wii U/3DS)

Nice to see some fun, free DLC. Nintendo should be doing this with DKC / SM3DW too. Can I have a sonic themed world in SM3DW? Instead of a cat costume give me a cute Sonic, Knuckes and Miles Prower one
  14. #10 - N-Europe: Let's Talk Games (Wii Sports)

Aren't games meant to be great distractions? :P I'd define top tier games in such a way. Sure there are multiple things we like such as an engaging story/multiplayer. But I would say the level of 'distraction' a game has demonstrates it's addictive nature As a game it is simple mechanically yet that is the class as it allows for mastery to take place for all levels of players - specifically when in a multiplayer context where people can test their skill against others. Wii sports harkens back to the inception of games. It was a huge step back yet introduced a new way to play perfectly. I can understand the hate. Gaming had come a long way from both a presentation and control perspective and Wii sports almost stuck two fingers up to everything that came before. Including things such as online gaming/achievements and more staples that many expect as standard in software. Yet for me - it distilled gaming in its purest form and was a great way to introduce millions more to the gaming world. Sure, they didn't all hang around for WiiU but if this industry is to keep growing it needs 'gateway drugs' titles like Wii sports.
  15. The Troubling Future of Gaming

The death of local multiplayer. FIFA is still the mainstay in most cases but the focus on online gaming means that gamers don't go round to their buddies houses to game anymore. I'd rather talk to and see my mates than talk to them over a headset.
  16. Wii U General Discussion

Hah. That's like some weird ass Dalek. Nobody should be putting their love muscle in that thing. (Where can I buy one?) I agree with you on the whole seclusion thing. That's something Nintendo has always been fighting from my perspective. Local multiplayer is awesome. Even WiiU has that covered with the GamePad approach. Their whole ethos is about inclusive gaming. To lose that would kill a side of gaming in my opinion. The last thing we want is a room full of individuals rocking VR headsets. Would look like a Daft Punk convention. I don't wanna ruin the fun but this seems like just another expensive add on that the American media and FPS crowd seem obsessed with. So now I can actually snap heads off with my own hands? It just sits uneasily with me. Anyway...on discussion. Just strap a GamePad to a cap and use gyro controls for insta-VR...
  17. Wii U General Discussion

Totes bro. I'm kinda on the fence. Now it's emerging. Was always the dream in the 90's but the idea of being alone in a room totally secluded in an artificial world doesn't sit right with me these days. Adult cynicism? Not sure. We're zombified enough with TV lol. Either way it will be insane when the adult entertainment industry get involved.

  19. Xenoblade Chronicles Official Thread

    Amen @Fierce_LiNk
  20. Wii U General Discussion

I don't mind the memes. At least they are trying something different. Fans could always make memes?...which they do and are usually great. My Body is Ready/Do a Barrell Roll etc.
  21. Wii U and 3DS Gaming Bargains

We all need to leave this alone before the purchase police take over! Have people eaten too many sour grapes that they can't see another fellow forumite enjoy the sunshine once in a while? I'm glad you got four @Wii - good for you! You took the time to plan it and it cost you your time and your petrol money. You paid a price to get the items. It's not often gamers get great bargains like this. It's hardly an injustice if the games will end up being enjoyed by someone and you seem ,like the kind of guy who would make a nice profit and enjoy more games from the cash raised.
  22. Wii U and 3DS Gaming Bargains

...Or gives gamers more opportunity to play it now that eBay is flooded with copies? Not everyone who is in the market for a copy of Xenoblade would know about this deal. You could perceive that those who scalped copies off eBay are doing some good. It's win/win. We get a bit of extra cash and the gamer pays the price they want on eBay for the game they really want. There isn't much difference in this example to a retailer getting something cheaper (let's call it something legit like, at 'trade price’ for buying in large qualities or from a specific dealer), only to sell it on to a consumer at a profit.
  23. Yoshi's NEW Island

Listening to the OST for this gives me fond memories of the original. I was sat at the piano tonight (with a few beers) and, well, Yoshi's Island on the SNES happened... I recorded it as I thought some of you may appreciate the vibes. ( Especially @RedShell ) http://soundcloud.com/mark-a-lee2/yoshimix/s-VS2cJ Like when I looked at your avatar...
  24. Not sure if anyone has been keeping up to speed on this one? Well worth reading the GAF thread about it as it tells a tale of passion, betrayal and online meltdowns (now in rap form on GAF). I personally find it sad that someone 'famous' for a VO has the audacity to rip a fan off. I hope the innocent parties get their money back and that Dred's reputation is tarnished enough to make him realise the error of his ways. Check it out here
