  1. Grand Theft Auto

Man I thought this was General. My bad.
  2. Sweet Salvation

I don't have any particular wishes, just that the board does fine. One thing I do miss about XSOrbit is the little folder+flame icon you got on a hot topic. Watching the flame rise and fall passed many an hour.
  3. Your top 5 songs of the moment

In no particular order - 1. [[[[VVRSSNN]]]] - Bruise Blood 2. Explosions in the Sky - First Breath After Coma 3. T.O.Y - Fairytale 4. Orbital - Acid Pants 5. Pantera - We'll Grind That Axe For A Long Time
  4. Playstation Discussion Archive

Hopefully soon I shall be joining the ranks of PSP Owners. Apparently its been dispatched...now we play the waiting game *twiddles thumbs*
  5. Grand Theft Auto

Wrong board? And I think the answer is no anyway.
  6. Who do you think you are?

I'm the same as I ever was.
  7. Tiberian Sun > you

That was awesome, the craters. Seeing them have to crawl over destroyed terrain. I did like artillery, but I never used them successfully enough. I could never back them up with strong enough units - Tick Tanks were about as heavy as NOD got
  8. Tiberian Sun > you

Yes, I know the range. Point is, how fast is a Wolverine? They can get inside the range of an artillery and not get hit easily. An MLRS can do it without losing much damage. Then the artillery has to pack up before it can move. And it's as slow as hell. Sorry, I just find them mainly useless
  9. Finished Fahrenheit last night.....

I'm definitely getting this...the demo was amazing. Although I axtually forgot it was out already!
  10. Thank god for nintendo

Just don't forget, Sega technically had gyroscopic technology in a controller first
  11. University?

Yep I've been told to expect around 6 hours a week of lectures, but there is a lot of stuff to be done by yourself - lots of reading and essay writing etc.
  12. University?

Ok, charvers. Sounds silly :P Anyway, I'm in some flats on Richardson Road which is about 2 minutes from the Uni, which is handy. Hooray! Sounds like I should have a good time...
  13. Dreamcast retro-ing

Advertising wasn't really the problem either IMO. From what I have read, developers were not ready to commit to the DC because Sony announced its new console (which would be the PS2) just as the DC was launching. Sony said it was more powerful than the DC giving developers more freedom etc to achieve what they wanted. This caused a lot of developers to think, why should they program for what will be soon obsolete hardware? After all, the PS2 would be around 12 months or so after the Dreamcast. This caused difficulty when trying to raise 3rd party support. To make matters worse, Sony had promised that it would include a DVD Player. This was new technology in 1999/2000, and there was, as evidently shown, a big market for an affordable DVD Player/Console to be in the living rooms of millions of people. Again, Sega had been made obsolete in technology. Also, the Dreamcast was raped by piracy. Apparently, when in development, Sega made it so that the DC could read from normal CD's to quicken up development. Sega had chosen GD-ROM as its format. This sounds good, except that Sega left in this development - the DC could run off normal CDs when reprogrammed. Lo and behold, some German hackers seized the initiative. They created a boot disc, called Utopia, which reversed the bootstrap sequence that loaded a game. Normally, the sequence read from the inside out, so it checked that it was an official Sega GD-ROM in the drive before loading. With it reversed, it loaded from the outside in, and bypassed this security check. Infact, the only security check. Companies usually take a loss on hardware, and recoup the profits from software sales. You can imagine the impact that this had on Sega, despite it having a very good software lineup for each year it was available. I don't think SegaNet took off very well outside of America either - it peaked there with 300,000 subscribers. It was $29/month on top of what you paid for Internet Acess. However, there are still servers for you to play PSO and Quake III on with your DC to this day.
  14. Just started FF7

Awesome, but I can't play it again I'm missing all 3 discs.
  15. Dreamcast retro-ing

That really is not the reason for it's undoing.
  16. Cool Vbulletin feature.

Hover the mouse over the blue block under the join date, and you get '*user* is on a distinguished road'. I guess this can increase with karma points or something?
  17. University?

I'm off to Newcastle on the 24th, to do History. I'm going to be in a flat with 5 other guys, this could be incredible as long as they are...you know...allright heh. I'm sure they will be, its Uni now! (i.e. they won't be chavs :P)
  18. Tiberian Sun > you

You could literally send out minigunners, and when they get to close you would have to pack them. Plus Titans and Wolverines would slaughter them when they got close enough.
  19. Tiberian Sun > you

But Ghostalker + Mammoth MK II = OK NOD defence - Tick Tanks, Lasers, Obelisks. Disruptors killed them. Plus GDI had Component Towers, and the RPG Upgrade was pretty effective against tanks and infantry. And, to make things worse, when playing as GDI if you place pavement all round your base, then NOD can't use subterranean engineer rushes. And then if GDI really got abused, there was always the Firestorm. We're going to have to disagree here (:p)
  20. Tiberian Sun > you

Hmm hard to tell if this is my least favourite C&C Game. Either that or Generals. Tib Sun was so horribly imbalanced. NOD were utter shit. They got stealth technology yer, which sucked power like no tomorrow. They had no heavy tanks, only Artillery which were slow as hell and once you were too close, then it took them a couple of days to pack up and move. GDI absolutely owned - MLRS', Disruptors, Mammoth MK IIs...what has NOD got? Yer Cyber Commandos were cool, but Mammoth MK II + Ghostalker = ownage.
  21. Dreamcast retro-ing

Soul Calibur of course! Aye, SoA was a tremendous game. Going to buy Sonic Adventure soon - I'm a sucker for anything Sonic *sigh* :P
  22. Lovin the new look

Hey cool. I would prefer it if it stretched all the way to the right too :-/ But it sounds like its supposed to be there...
