  1. good stuff thread.

Gotten myself a little work experience with the Yorkshire Post during the summer. So happy, and such a relief.
  2. Pets are funnies

One of mine. He's so cute! Then also, just because it's making me so happy after finding it:
  3. Marina and the Diamonds - Lies Marina and the Diamonds - Starring Role I can't describe how much I love these two. Her voice is stunning in Lies, and I love a decent mid-tempo break-up song with a hint of melancholy, which Starring Role encompasses perfectly.
  4. bad stuff thread.

I hate today. I slept through my alarm and so missed my HDMI cable being delivered. Then I realised I've neglected an essay and so have been doing that for the majority of the day. After receiving a broken PS3 from Gamestation yesterday, I sent that off for a refund and decided to head into town to pick up another. I get on the bus, and immediately become squashed again the side, directly next to an elderly man that's either never showered, or had just pissed himself. I manage to grab a PS3, which is about the only decent thing to happen so far, and get back onto a bus. I stand there, only to look up and find myself in that scene from Black Swan where the old man starts licking his lips at Natalie Portman on the Subway. Worst day.
  5. PlayStation 3 Console Discussion

Oh yes, I've tried it in both horizontal and vertical positions. Put it in an open space, and even had a fan blowing next to it as I also figured it could be something like that. It's just so confusing! I'd be inclined to think it was the games, but considering they're both also new and both stop after 2 minutes or so, it's blatantly got to be the console. I hate today.
  6. PlayStation 3 Console Discussion

It was indeed online, and no it wasn't second hand either. It's such a pain! I'm assuming there's an issue with the Blu-ray drive, as it still plays DVD's perfectly and doesn't freeze on the home scree. But what confuses me is, how it manages to load the games at all if there's something wrong with it.
  7. What Have You Bought?

A Playstation 3...that's failing to work. If anyone has any solutions, please check the Playstation thread!
  8. Call of Duty: Black to the Future

I've not owned one since the first Black Ops. Reason being there have no longer been computer enemies present in the splitscreen offline multiplayer, which is beyond annoying and such a pointless omission.
  9. PlayStation 3 Console Discussion

Help please! I bought a PS3 and it turned up today. Bought a couple of games with it (Skyrim and Uncharted 3) and couldn't wait to get playing. I turn it on and Skyrim freezes about 30 seconds into my clicking new game and the initial first scenes beginning. I restart and the same thing happens in a slightly difference place. I uninstall the patch and it works up until creating a new character and then freezes again. I try Uncharted, and it works until about 3 minutes into the game and then does exactly the same thing no matter what I do. I've even gone into Safe Mode and reset things, but nothing. It does however, play normal DVD's perfectly well, and doesn't freeze on the home-screen. Basically, is it fucked before I've already used it?
  10. Weight Loss & Fitness 2012

With my iPhone. It's supposed to sync wirelessly after a run, but a couple of times after a long run it's just failed to do so with no explanation as to why. It's even told me it has, and yet there's nothing on my profile and my goal hasn't been updated. That moment I realise it's refusing to update is a little devastating, I'm not going to lie. So you've been running for a year and a half? How far is your average run compared to what it used to be when you started out? Or is it less a distance improvement and more a time to run a certain distance improvement? I mean, I only started a week and a half ago, but I'm really enjoying myself. Though, I only ever run at night. I'm still a bit too nervous to do it during the day, I'd feel far too self conscious.
  11. Weight Loss & Fitness 2012

Ran another 5km today, well on course to complete my 30 miles in a month goal, which makes me happy. I just wish my Nike + would stop being such a pain occasionally.
  12. But she's still got her dignit-eeey--eeey.
  13. Weight Loss & Fitness 2012

There's definitely a visible difference there, looking good. I want to get to about where you're at now, I effectively look like you did a year ago. I've been going to the gym for the past for months now, but not doing anything too crazy. Just started running recently, and did my first 5km through the streets of Sheffield yesterday. Actually enjoyed it so much, bar the many slopes scattered across Sheffield which were a total bitch. Only drawback being today I literally can't walk. My calves are in tears.
  14. Netflix

I've fallen in love with the US site. It's incredible. I'm going to have no life for the next 6 months.
  15. http://s3.amazonaws.com/www.invisiblechildren.com/critiques.html On a side note, I also give regularly to Oxfam and the EJAF Aids foundation. But anyway, to argue my point, I just don't understand the majority of the criticism, especially after looking where the money goes according to the link above. The "post a link become an activist" joke is utter bullshit and kind of hilarious considering by making such things they're further promoting the charity. That's literally the point of the campaign and it's blatantly worked brilliantly. Even if only 50% of the people watching the video actually bother to form an opinion of it or take note and want to do something about it or look into the countries other major political issues, then that's what, 15 million people and counting that have been educated on the matter. I fail to see how that can be seen as a bad thing. It appears that just as much as people might be seen as sheep for following the cause, people seem to also be blindly going against it purely from the off comment someone may have made. But at any rate, the campaign has blatantly worked and once again brought attention to the issue to the people that matter. The amount of attention it's received is pretty astounding.
  16. Donating $15 dollars a month. Decent video with a bit too much cheese, but it got the point across. Hopefully it works.
  17. This is stunning in HD. The mix also improves the song dramatically.
  18. Rihanna

I just think it's an abysmal single choice though, and has literally halted any momentum the campaign had, with it now living off the ends of the success of We Found Love. The fact she's even attempting to promote Talk That Talk also bugs me, it's one of the worst cuts from the album. Praying she follows through with the musical break as promised on Jonathan Ross. Her single's usually stun (her singles collection is going to be flawless), but I think she needs that break just to make a more cohesively decent album. Not for too long though, she's without a doubt one of the best pop-tarts around. Her sexuality is so blatant through her image and sound but, at least to me, doesn't come across forced in the slightest. I can't go too long without a new whorey anthem.
  19. Lana Del Ray

This album is fantastic. Summertime Sadness, National Anthem, Without You, Million Dollar Man and Lolita all bring me something different. I'm still stunned as to why Without You wasn't on the main track-listing, it's fantastic. She's beyond cute during this performance. Really show's how much the backlash is affecting her. Excited for the new Blue Jeans video. I just wish she wasn't making her own for Carmen. There's far better songs on the album that could do with a video treatment.
  20. Rihanna

She came across well on Jonathon Ross. She's supposedly filming the video for Where Have You Been at the moment, which makes me ridiculously happy and should get this album campaign back on track considering Talk That Talk and You Da One are abysmal. Drunk on Love, Farewell and Roc Me Out would all be acceptable choices as follow-ups.
  21. Lady Gaga

Oh, and Heavy Metal Lover is supposedly the new single. Wrong choice for a single.
  22. Lana Del Ray

The media slamming her for being "fake" are pathetic. She has talent, and the album has such a cohesive sound to it. She can sing live, very well - contrary to her SNL performance which is far less of a trainwreck that people appear to make out. But Radio, National Anthem, Summertime Sadness, Million Dollar Man, Carmen (though it's wrongly placed on the track list) and the titular track are all stunning. I'm still adamant Video Games will be one of those songs considered a classic in years to come. National Anthem (Tiniest bit sped up so it's not removed) Audio
