  1. What format is the CD? If it is a data disc you could put it in and then right click on your CD drive in My Computer and click 'Explore'. Sometimes if you do this before you put the disc in it will prompt you to put in a cd and then it works.

  2. Watched the Machinist for the second time last night. A very good film, keeps you wondering until the very end. Still not too sure about the camera effect it uses all the way through but I guess it adds to the effect. 7.5/10 which some people might not consider a good score, but would recommend, worth a watch!

  3. This is what I found while googling not sure if it's much use though:

    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310396

That article may be a step in the right direction in that, it is likely that the problem outlined there is the problem that needs to be addressed, however, they are saying to use the recovery console, which in the past I have found to be too complicated and fairly problematic in itself. It doesn't do anything that a full windows repair can't do, although if it works, it is obviously quicker!

However, feel free to give it a go, you might get on ok with it.

Booted it and it sais press enter to cancel or press r to repair windows instalation. So I pressed r but then it asked me what windows xp thing to type in and I didn't undertsand so I canceled but at the top it was in about system rcovery and I don't want that.

    Please help :(

Sounds to me like you are in the recovery console. You should press enter at that point and then it should show a list of hard drives/partions etc that are on your machine. At that point I think you can choose to repair the windows installation.

  4. Booker, could I ask you for some more info please. What OS are you running? Have you made any hardware/software changes lately (or since this started happening) also some basic system specs such as CPU/RAM types/speeds/sizes etc.

EDIT - Done some research, so you are running XP X64 edition then? Found this on another forum:

    Kept getting:

File AMD64\ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded...

Setting BIOS to 'Default Settings' or 'Optimal Settings' fixed the problem for me.

[After I updated the MB bios, XP stopped loading. Required a repair-install of XP 64-bit. Trying to load XP install CD I kept getting 'File AMD64\ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded...'. Resetting bios settings fixed the problem for me.]

So you should make sure you have the latest version of your motherboard bios, and try setting your bios to use default or optimal settings?

EDIT 2 - Having said that, after a bit more research, could you provide me some information from your event log please? To get it, go to control panel, double click admin tools, open 'Event Viewer' click the 'System' view on the left, when your system BSOD's it creates a system event 1001 or 1003, can you provide the latest 5-10 of these? If you double click on it it will give you the details of the event, you can then copy these to the clip board:

Anyone else ever here of them? They ROCK!!!:bouncy:

My girlfriend likes them, you should check out a band called Zero 7 and The Postal Service, they are both great and similar.

I'm listening to Sting and the Police- Roxanne.

What isn't there to like about this song? Everything about it is perfect.

    QFT!

  6. £150 from play.com i might cancel it and see if i can buy it from ebay cheaper.

Yeah i gave him a ring and he said he would load windows xp for £67 so i went for it.

You need to make sure that you get the copy of the original disk and the XP product key that he uses to install it, otherwise you might not be getting a legit copy. Tell you what you would probably be better off getting this.

Thats a review of the 512 not 256, would it make that much differnce?

Yes it would, I'll have another look about. My friend has 6800's in SLi (two cards in one computer - one card renders top 2 thirds of the screen other card does bottom third) and they are very good cards!
