I fired up MHG on the 3DS yesterday to see if I still enjoy playing it and therefore can justify getting MHGU. I still did, but two things I didn't like about MHG compared to 4 in retrospect: the hopping between the different hubs and the new weapon upgrade paths with the levels. Luckily the first should not matter since with MHGU I will spend most time in the online hub anyway! Oh and the lack of a proper second analogue stick became very apparent after playing the Switch in handheld a lot and now going back to the N3DS's flimsy analogue knob thingy!

So the NES Classic Mini will make a return on June 29, and the SNES Classic Mini will also be restocked before the end of the year. I was thinking of selling my NES Classic Mini, but this news does decrease it's value a bit I guess. I don't use it as often as I would have thought. On the one hand I want to keep it in the collection, on the other hand I don't want to be the materialist who buys stuff and never uses it. Especially with a lot of NES titles coming in the online service as well it became a bit unnecessary.

I finished the main quest for RE:R2 yesterday, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I really liked RE:R1 on the 3DS, since I felt it got back to the narrow corridor-style gameplay of the earlier titles. Those bio-based enemies instead of "regular" zombies I liked a bit less. Luckily zombies return in RE:R2, while keeping the less open environments. A bit more open than RE:R1 (still love the cruise ship setting!), but with plenty of great cramped environments. Story was surprisingly good as well, much better than in the main series. Now onwards with the extra chapters, Raid Mode and collecting!

So yeah the main guess is that it will be the announcement of a Battle Royale mode. I thought about it and there are a couple of things that make me doubt it. First of all Nintendo has never been the type of company to jump on hypes like this. If any, they are the ones creating the hypes. Second I wonder how they could make it work. With 100 people in one game, how do you do ink? 100 Different colours, or just 1? The first one seems impossible, the second one takes all the tactics of the ink out of it. If we will get a Battle Royale, I am sure they will release it as a stand-alone version. Them explicitly not mentioning Splatoon 2 but Splatoon is my biggest guess. Plus a lot of other Battle Royale games offer the BR mode for free with the core game (if any) paid. In other news, another Splatfest this weekend! Go team Donnie!

Finished Kamiko yesterday with the 3rd character, in the hope of unlocking the secret menu. Turns out you need to do more, but for the moment I can't be bothered. It was a nice game though, for the few bucks it costed I got enough value out of it.

Man, Shovel Knight looks beefed up haha! This game is looking great by the way, if reviews about playstyle are positive I may pick it up, I don't have a fighter on Switch yet.

Well that was a bad night, even for my standards!

Well, luckily we can play it for free online for a couple of days before the online service kicks in!

God, Netherlands needs an official Nintendo website. We rarely get cool preorder bonuses like that. Some retailers have but they are never too nice.

Yeah there was DLC. I bought both games on Steam in a sale including the season pass. Only played TR, and I didn't really know which part was dlc and which part was not. I think some of the costumes and some of the tombs were dlc but they felt like part of the main game for me. So I cannot judge if they really added something.

Nice! I have both my Switch and a Steam Link hooked up on my TV. But that means that I can use the Pro Controller for both and don't need to drag around my Xbox 360 controller including dongle from the Link to the PC and back. And great for 2 player multiplayer since I only have 1 PC controller.

I got a monitor at work that can go vertical, might need to bring my Switch to work sometimes. What makes this game stand out so much compared to other shmups by the way? Seeing so many positive reactions on this one makes me wonder.

So how are you guys playing vertical mode anyway? Use the Hori Stand or just balance the switch on your lap, or put it flat on the table? Not too siked about this game though, but schmups are not my genre anyway.

So, who picked this up in the end? I picked up RE:R2 first in the eshop sale and started playing this week. First impressions are okay, looks crisp in docked mode, haven't tried handheld yet. Motion controls also work well although IR reloading is a bit fiddly. Would like to try out Raid Mode in the near future, so if someone is up for some co-op let me know!

On another note, do you think they will still release 2 versions? I don't know why, but I have a feeling that since they are now shifting to the "home console" they will drop the 2 versions approach. It would also make sense, with online trading nullifying the effect of version exclusives.

I tried a couple of rounds but I just cannot cope with the touch controls. Especially after playing the PC version playing it on mobile feels watered down and handicapped. Still impressive though that you can play an online game with 100 players on a smart device.
