Counter-unelegant-argument, I got the game free via PS+ and didn’t really care for it. I don’t think it plays particularly well. I’d be remiss if I suggested someone pay money for it.
  2. I have been. Season 1 had some growing pains but they’ve listened to criticism and altered their formula. Season 2 has been a good bit of fun car show to me.
  3. PlayStation 4 Console Discussion

Impressive numbers. I’m wondering how many double dippers though between the PS4 and then upgrading to the PS4pro. At least it’s a better argument than the tired ole PS2 argument that most the consoles failed and had to be replaced.
  4. Horizon: Zero Dawn

I’d argue that you’re both certifiably wrong. To claim that the world is worse than BotW is interesting, especially to suggest more linearity. Linear could probably help both games. Over populated I’d argue against as well. I never really had an issue just going wherever I felt like in Horizon. I could either just run past whatever enemies were present or just take a slight detour around, the detour also being exploration. Aloy talking, well yeah it’s a stilted performance at times but honestly I found her well written. Including talking to herself. Also the franchise is not just about “robo dinosaurs” If that’s what you come away with after playing there’s just no hope.

Some games do offer 2560x1440 resolution on the pro (Titanfall 2 being one example) those that don’t however would typically offer improved or more stable frame rates at 1080p. Or with a 1080p resolution they downsample from the higher resolutions for improved anti aliasing. It is still a relatively small number of games that offer these improvements. You may wish to look at a list of games that support the PS4 Pro and see if they are games that interest you.
  6. Mass Effect: Andromeda

I do eventually want to play through 2 and 3 but I didn’t want to do it out of order. And waiting for a dialogue choice really doesn’t count as pausing a cutscene. Some scenes don’t have dialogue choices. Holding the PS button for the quick menu does seem to work though but it’s a poor way of handling it.
  7. 5-30% is the expected performance drop. Linux Kernal has already received patches showing that drop in typical server type activities. Gaming doesn’t seem as affected. ARM CPUs are also affected. Intel has known of this for at least some time if the fact that their CEO sold all of his available stock just before the information became public and their share prices dropped. Looking forward to an SEC investigation into that. This really isn’t a good thing at all. I don’t fully understand what the implications full are but part of my understanding is that through the bug privileges can be elevated, which I’m guessing means a program can get in and give itself full access and privilege to anything it wants.
  8. Mass Effect: Andromeda

Given this a start and honestly quite miffed at EA Bioware. Unskippable, unpausable cutscenes in 2017 is a fucking joke. Otherwise i I guess it’s okay. I’m not far in and so far the main issues seem purely technical. A little more polish could’ve helped. I’m unable to compare it to the others though. I played ME1 to completion and about 10 hours of ME2. I would have liked to continue 2 but twice an issue (unrelated to the game) with having to reinstall and restart the game left me a bit disgusted watching the same unskippable cutscenes(!) yet again that I just couldn’t bother.
  9. New Year's Resolutions for 2018!

At least the second one is conducive to the grow a beard resolution. Pro-tip on that on, just stop shaving. Power through that awkward trashy stage after stubble and before trimmable bears length.
  10. Dark (Netflix)

Ah good ole uncle ted (no not really. Though I did have an actual uncle ted). An intensely smart man. I actually live about 30 minutes from U of M where he gained his Masters and Doctoral. Which reminds me, if you like criminal dramas, watch Mindhunter. The scenes with Edmund Kemper are fantastic and intense and apparently very accurate to Kempers person. As for Dark. It’s caught my eye a couple times while browsing but I haven’t had the gumption to get involved in a series that I’ll want to pay close attention to. Especially if Subtitles are recommended (which my poor hearing I always have them on regardless).
  11. New Year's Resolutions for 2018!

Have you tried lowering your standards as to what counts as a drawing? It’s kinda like dating. Just keep widening what’s acceptable.
  12. New Year's Resolutions for 2018!

That’s pretty much it. I was going out to check my mailbox. Heard a noise and looked over to see the silhouette of a Fox hauling ass for the field. There are a ton of tracks going all through the snow in my yard. And a handful of rabbit tracks.
  13. New Year's Resolutions for 2018!

I need to amend mine to include... CATCHING AND TAMING THE FOX LIVING UNDER MY PORCH. THAT BASATARD HAS BEEN FROLICKING IN MY SNOWY YARD WITHOUT ME!! and now we have the most unrealistic resolution
  14. Xbox One Console Discussion

I need an adult! I use to use TurtleBeach and they weren’t too bad and relatively inexpensive. $30-40 should net you a decent enough pair that’s comfortable/over the ear and transmits voice.
  15. New Year's Resolutions for 2018!

I’ve never really made real resolutions. I like to keep it simple and with low goals. Make it to 2019. Things I’d like to do but likely won’t. Make a housing purchase. Either a land lot and build (leaning towards) or something on market but I’m cheap and picky. Fix the brakes on my dune buggy and finally get that damn thing to the dunes this summer and get away from work. Bonus, get the other buggy an engine and running period. Uhhhh....yep that’s it.

And being able to switch it off makes it worlds better than the Xbox equivalent. I believe people were blocking specific IP addresses at the router in order to shit off those ads. But no, ads for a paid service are fucking abhorrent. What the fuck am I paying you for if you’re still going to try and make ad revenue, and raise the price of subscriptions.
  17. PlayStation 4 Console Discussion

I played Superhot years back on PC (I think it was still a free proof of concept then) and it will definitely be my first PSVR purchase. It’s hugely original in its premise and quite fun. I finally set all that up and played a few demos and a bit of REVII. Holy fuck that game is intense normally but in VR mode, wow. Ads on the dash, hmm haven’t seen that yet myself. Taking a page from Microsoft now are we Sony?
  18. Christmas Swag Lists

Got clarification on this. It’s a complete 1969 Bug with a 1600 engine. The main thing I need to it being the engine components to get the second dune buggy up and running.
  19. Christmas Swag Lists

I got a Studio Ghibli poster, bit of candy, a blanket and a toy car of a VW New Beetle. My sister/her family got a 2017 Honda 4x4. Guess who the favorite is haha. Nah my parents also got themselves a matching one. The rumor is if the seller doesn’t back out the toy VW is indicative of my actual gift? Which makes no sense I have a car and a truck. Oh and a Newton’s Cradle that doesn’t work very well. @martinist That globe is awesome.
  20. Dragon Quest VIII - 3DS

So, time to post the PS3 thread into the PS4 thread?
  21. Dragon Quest VIII - 3DS

I’m really confused as to what you were going for here.
  22. Super Mario Odyssey

    Hahaha wow that’s amazing.
  23. Netflix

I just watched Bright myself (credits are still rolling even). I enjoyed it for what it’s worth. Rather glad they didn’t overplay the obvious racism aspect of it. Good action, decent acting, cool effects and a somewhat interesting world that makes me think of Shadowrun a bit. It’s nothing special but it certainly doesn’t deserve to be decried as being awful. In addition to being a bit of Bad Boys and LotR there is a bit of Training Day in there too. Which now I want to watch that because it’s a fantastic fucking flick.
  24. Catherine: Full Body (PS4 & Vita)

Could do with the fact that the PS3 version of the game sold twice as much as the 360 version. (VGChartz) and then given the sort of attach rates and install base of the PS4 vs the One, they probably don’t see money in a Xbox port. The vita makes some sense in that maybe they’ll offer crossbuy or crossplay and perhaps it’s a much simpler port to achieve (because the install base argument applies to it as well). The switch might be leaving money on the table though. How have 3rd party sales been on it so far?
  25. Wolfenstein II: The New Collosus

This game is even more demanding than Doom so be prepared for some more cuts to possibly exist. It is a damn great game though and a good continuation of The New Order.
