  1. Baldur's Gate 3 (PC out now/PS5 September 6th)

I've never played a CRPG or D&D, although have been tempted to try Divinity in the past, but all the praise that Baldur's Gate 3 is getting has definitely got me interested. I don't have a capable PC so PS5 is about my only option but if reviewers say the controls translate well then I will more than likely buy a copy. Doesn't seem like it's getting a physical release so deals are hard to come by at the moment
  2. Pokémon Presents - August 8th, 2pm GMT

At least Detective Pikachu looks like it'll be decent, shame they haven't ported the first game to Switch alongside it. Pretty painful presentation though, what was the significance of the shoes during the Pokémon GO section? They lingered on them for ages
  3. Red Dead Redemption

Seems like a pretty minimal port, I played it on PS3 several years ago but never got round to playing Undead Nightmare so might get this eventually to play that (if it goes on sale) Just hope it runs better than the GTA Trilogy, I wrapped that up recently by playing San Andreas and it's still pretty rough
  4. Pokémon Presents - August 8th, 2pm GMT

    Hey You Pikachu, surely
  5. More fuel to the fire, definitely seems like the next Switch will be coming at some point next year. The reaction in the comments in the articles and on Resetera is frankly ridiculous though, people taking it as gospel that there won't be any backwards compatibility and losing their rag about the possibility of it only launching with an LED screen. Besides some pretty solid rumours about the chip Nintendo will be using (Nvidia Tegra T239) we know literally nothing else about the hardware or Nintendo's plans to support original Switch software, the way people jump the gun is just moronic. Personally, given Nintendo's track record in previous generations (particularly the DS and Wii) I would be very surprised if they didn't support Switch software, I think the only doubt is whether patches to take advantage of the more powerful hardware are free or not. I think at the bare minimum original Switch software will run in compatibility mode (ala non-patched PS4 games on PS4 Pro & PS5) where they run as they do on standard Switch hardware.
  6. Everybody 1-2-Switch!

That's a lot more promotion than I expected them to give this game, does look pretty bare bones too - those 'influencers' were really forcing themselves to look like they were enjoying it
  7. Everybody 1-2-Switch!

I'm not sure enough outlets will even bother to review it for it to count. They must have made some improvements since the article about the dire development so it might not be quite as disastrous but it still seems like a game they'd have been better off burying - it's not like Nintendo can't afford to take the hit financially. My fear is that it'll still sell more than Xenoblade ever will
  8. Still looking great, no telling how this is going to look on Switch though - will surely be a big visual downgrade
  9. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Mine was the same @Ronnie but I just got an email saying it's been dispatched so yours could still be sent out tonight too Will probably avoid posting in this thread for a while, looking forward to getting lost in Hyrule again!
  10. General Switch Discussion

I was interested to see how Bayonetta Origins sold but it was clearly too insignificant a number to make it into their report - a real shame as it's a fantastic game.
  11. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Nintendo have already taken the money for my pre-order, got my hopes up for an early dispatch but the official store is usually pretty strict about not sending it out until the very last minute. Still, getting pretty excited now - just over a week to go! Any confirmation on when the review embargo is? I'd guess it'll be the day before, like BOTW, but Nintendo might want a slightly longer lead in this time round
  12. The Super Mario Bros. Movie (April 7th UK)

Closing on $500m in the US too, every chance it could overtake The Dark Knight's US gross next weekend
  13. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Is the travel medallion actually available to you from the beginning or is it just a convenience for the previews so they didn't have waste any time getting back up to the sky islands?
  14. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (29th July 2022)

I was holding off buying the expansion pass, figuring the story DLC would be released physically like Torna was but I suppose I might as well just buy it digitally. Probably won't get around to playing it until after Zelda though
  15. The Super Mario Bros. Movie (April 7th UK)

I wonder how much of the profits Nintendo gets, given how involved Miyamoto was in the production they must have contributed to the budget in some way
  16. Final Fantasy Official Thread

As someone who has never played a Final Fantasy game but has been meaning to get around to playing FF6 on the SNES Classic, should I pick up this version to play on the Switch or should I stick with the SNES original?
  17. I picked this up just after launch and played through it this week and really enjoyed it. I love the style and the presentation, nails the storybook vibe and is at times visually jaw dropping (particularly the first time you finish a Tir Na Nog). The gameplay hook of controlling both Cereza and Cheshire at the same time is great when you're out exploring the world but can get a little confusing during combat, an issue which isn't helped by Cereza's ineffectiveness at combat (most of the time I was focused on Cheshire, given that he's the only one who can actually do any damage) but the encounters are still mostly enjoyable regardless. It does run out of steam a bit in the later stages but there is so much charm and joy that it's easy to overlook any shortcomings. Voice acting is great across the board, especially one particularly verbose Faerie villain, and it all works to serve the storybook aesthetic perfectly. For those worried its too much of a departure from the mainline Bayonetta games, I won't spoil anything specific but I will say that it does get pretty mad at times so even though the main gameplay is noticeably different it still has that unmistakably Bayonetta style at times. It's still very much a game for kids though so I'll definitely be lending my copy to my brother for my 11 year old niece to play - very interested to see what she thinks.
  18. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

I don't think it'll match BOTW's average of 97 but it'll surely get close, would be shocked if it isn't in the mid 90's - even if there'll inevitably some reactionary 'low' scores
  19. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

They showed off some cool stuff, the possibilities with the fuse mechanic are potentially endless, and I'm glad they're holding a lot of stuff back so we can experience it first hand, but the presentation didn't really appeal to me - the physics stuff wasn't what I loved most about BOTW, it was the exploration and the atmosphere. Still lots of questions, no definitive answer either way on proper dungeons or how active a role Zelda has in the narrative (fingers crossed she's playable in some respect), among other mysteries so I don't think I'll be going completely media blackout just yet, but I'll be very cautious when it comes to reading previews.
  20. The Super Mario Bros. Movie (April 7th UK)

Looking at the box office of previous Illumination films it seems like breaking $1BN is a possibility - would definitely be surprised if it doesn't at least overtake Warcraft as the highest grossing video game adaptation.
  21. Literally the only reason I played GoldenEye in widescreen was to get rid of that bloody icon
  22. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

I would absolutely love if Zelda is playable, seems a bit rubbish to reduce her to a damsel in distress again - BOTW at least made her an active participant in the plot, even if it was an excuse putting her in stasis, she still had a role to play in defeating Ganon. I won't hold my breath for Nintendo actually doing it though, seems like they would have hinted at it more if it was actually going to happen. Wasn't she holding the Sheikah slate in the original teaser anyway?
  23. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Yeah, I think @Dcubed is jumping the gun a little bit, insinuating from a two minute trailer that there aren't any proper dungeons in the game. I agree with you that there probably isn't a groundbreaking central mechanic that they're still keeping under wraps but there isn't really any indication either way about dungeons from the very little we've seen so far. Along with the lack of dungeons, one of my main gripes with BOTW was the lack of energy variety and unique boss encounters so I'm happy that they seem to have addressed those to some extent, though hopefully there are a many more of each that we haven't seen yet Besides the terrible English voice acting I think yesterdays trailer was great, really looking forward to getting my hands on TOTK - don't really need to see anymore now, I assume they'll have a dedicated direct closer to release but I'll probably avoid it and try and go media blackout from now on
  24. Nintendo Direct (8th February 2023 @ 22:00 GMT)

The game itself looks phenomenal though, shame the English voice acting is as bad as the first BOTW - hopefully we can play it with Japanese VA from the off
  25. Nintendo Direct (8th February 2023 @ 22:00 GMT)

They're just doing this to soften the blow when they end by delaying Zelda
