  1. I'm in need of a webcam, as my other half is heading off to start uni this weekend (and I'm very proud of her too!) We've done some tests using my HTC One X, but that doesn't seem to work very well with Skype. Does anyone have any recommendations? I've not bought a webcam before, so I have no idea what to look for. One with a built-in mic is a must though. Thanks if anyone can help!
  2. A new Counter-Strike has been announced by Valve, set for an early 2012 release. http://kotaku.com/5830377/new-counter+strike-is-real-hits-ps3-xbox-360-and-pc-in-early-2012 Intriuged to see how this turns out, but still no Half-Life 2: Episode 3?
  3. Resident Evil 6

Might buy this when it inevitably ends up in bargain bins a few months after its release, but it might not even be worth it then. It looks completely diabolical and it's killed the Resident Evil series for me. In my opinion, the series ended with 4.
  4. I think it's time to upgrade my computer, being as it's 5/6 years old! I've been shopping around, trying to find the best specs that'll last me as ong as possible, here's what I've decided on: Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor; £227.99 Asus P8Z77-V Socket 1155 VGA DVI DisplayPort HDMI 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard; £132.77 Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz CL9 1.5V Non-ECC Unbuffered; £77 Corsair Memory TX750 V2 750W ATX Enthusiast Series; £79.99 Asus GeForce GTX 560Ti 830MHz 1GB PCI-Express HDMI; £166.99 Total: £683.75 I was hoping for a budget of about £550 maximum, but I don't really mind too much. I am a bit unsure about the motherboard though, and I still need to get a wireless network card. Any recommendations there? Also, is it worth getting a soundcard? Id so, then which is best? I'm ok for hard drives/optical drive, as I have 3 SATA hard drives and a DVD drive. Finally, I'm hoping to get an external hard drive, to back up all my data before I go through with this. I'd need a 1TB drive. Any recommendations (preferably not the Western Digital brand)? Thanks if anyone can help.
  5. F1 Race Stars announced

Glad they've finally announced this, I've known about it for ages (I work for Codemasters.) It is an amazing looking game though, can't wait to see what peeps think.
  6. Strongly considering a PC upgrade. Is this spec ok?

I've tried to look for the DualView option, but I only get the options to extend or clone. I've done some research, and have no idea how to find it. :/
  7. Strongly considering a PC upgrade. Is this spec ok?

I think I will do. I just thought of another issue that I forgot to mention. I have the PC connected to my 22" Samsung Syncmaster monitor and my 42" Panasonic G30. However, when I've tried to have the output on both screens, the image is cut off at the top and bottom on my Panasonic. This is when cloning the monitor, as well as setting it to extension. The monitor is 16:10, and the TV is 16:9, could that be the problem? Again, not a major issue, but I'm not sure what to do. Thanks again if you can help.
  8. Strongly considering a PC upgrade. Is this spec ok?

Thanks again for all the help. My system is now built, and it's awesome! We did have an issue with the graphics card, but it turned out, on of the power leads weren't plugged in properly . Plus my external caddy isn't being detected.by my computer, so it looks like I need a jumper for it. I'm not too fussed about that though, it can be sorted easily enough. Thanks again for everything.
  9. Strongly considering a PC upgrade. Is this spec ok?

Thanks for that. Should be building my system in a few hours. Exciting times!
  10. Strongly considering a PC upgrade. Is this spec ok?

I ordered all my parts off ebuyer, and didn't realise that, but they all arrived the same day. My cousin and I will be building my system later. Just one thing that's bothering me. I bought this external caddy: http://www.ebuyer.com/221430-startech-infosafe-3-5-black-esata-usb-2-0-to-ide-sata-external-hard-uni3510uebgb for my hard drive. When I put my hard drive in there, will all my data be wiped when I use it? Thanks if anyone can help.
  11. Strongly considering a PC upgrade. Is this spec ok?

Thanks for those specs, there's some awesome stuff there that I might check out! Deffinitely the i5 and the mobo too! I was going to get a 2500k version of the i5, due to it apparently being better at overclocking, but the 3750k is a bargain at that price!! EDIT: I have everything finalised btw, and I should be buying all my parts next week. I actually decided to get a GTX 570 Golden Sample graphics card in the end, it's not a bad deal at £217 here: http://www.ebuyer.com/282089-gainward-gtx-570-golden-sample-1280mb-gddr5-dvi-hdmi-displayport-pci-e-graphics-4260183362012 Had to buy it straight away though, there's only 1 left now!
  12. Nintendo Conference (5.00pm - 5th June)

It was a good conference. Not enough for a new console showcase, but it still did a decent job of highlighting how some of the Wii U features work with different games. I think it dragged and got a bit, there was way too much talking, and not enough gameplay. That said, Pikmin 3, Batman, ZombU and Nintendoland looked great! Plus I'm glad it supports 2 Wii U pads per console now, which was one of my main gripes when Nintendo first announced the console. Even though it was a slow paced conference, it had a strong start, and has sold the Wii U to me much more. It was far better than the reveal at last E3, and it's now deffinitely clear that it's an entirely new system, and not just a Wii add-on. My only major issue now is that there's still no solid release date, or a price point set.
  13. This. This is why I thought Sony's conference was great. I couldn't agree more. Sure, they didn't show many games, but quality over quantity. I actually like the Wonderbook concept too. The fact that such a big franchise, such as Harry Potter, is coming to Wonderbook is huge, so they'd obviously showcase it. It's something that's more impressive to see in action. Plus, the Spell Book is not the only book being translated to Wonderbook, so the possibilities are endless.
  14. Honestly, I liked it! There were some great reveals, they showed some new interesting footage for upcoming games, and a few cool new features. More than anything else, I liked the fact that Sony actually kept to the point, and showed off some big titles as well. My expectations of the E3 conferences were minimal, so I feel that Sony delivered a great presentation.
  15. That was an amazing press conference! Completely blew Microsofts conference out of the water! Nintendo really need to pull off something very special to beat that...
  16. Looking for a new HDTV

I've decided it's time for me to replace my old TV, and upgrade to a newer model. After some recommendations, I've decided I may go for the PANASONIC TX-P42G30B. However, I've read a few reviews, and there's some issues that have me slighly worried (such as poor sound quality and automatic greyscale adjustment in dark scenes.) Are these issues minor enough to warrant buying that TV, or should I go with something else? My budget is around £400-£600, and I'm looking for a 42" TV that's good for both gaming and blu-ray films (I've heard that Sony or Panasonic are the best brands.) 3D really doesn't bother me, as I find it a silly gimmick. Thanks if anyone can help.
  17. Looking for a new HDTV

I ended up getting the Panasonic TV in the end, and it's bloody brilliant. It was deffinitely a worthy purchase! Thanks again everyone. I may upgrade my PC soon too, but I'll leave that for another day...
  18. Looking for a new HDTV

Thanks for the help everyone. I've decided to stick with my original choice, I just wanted to be sure I was making the right decision. I'll probably go out and get it tomorrow (I've heard M&S are doing a sale price on it, for £450 apparently.) Thanks again though folks!
  19. The Android Thread

Thanks for the help on my previous issue folks, the battery is actually working ok now. However, I now have ANOTHER issue with my HTC One X. I was on my mobile network whilst on the train this morning, watching a YouTube video. Right at the end, it started buffering, so I quit the app. However, after that, I was unable to get a connection. The connection icon still showed in the top bar, but the arrows were greyed out and remaied static. I tried turning my phone on and off, to no avail. So I called o2 customer service for help, and it appeared it was my APN settings that was the issue. After following thier steps, it still didn't work, so I reset to defaults and it still didn't work. I called the customer services again, and followed thier help again, but to no avail. Here's the guide I used: 1. Tap the Applications key 2. Tap Settings 3. Tap Mobile network 4. Tap Access Point Names 5. Tap the 3 dots on the Top Right of the sceen 6. Tap New APN 7. Tap Name then tap the text box and enter O2 Pay Monthly then tap OK 8. Tap APN then tap the text box and enter wap.o2.co.uk then tap OK 9. Tap Proxy then tap the text box and enter 193.113.200.195 then tap OK 10. Tap Port then tap the text box and enter 8080 then tap OK 11. Tap Username then tap the text box and enter o2wap then tap OK 12. Tap Password then tap the text box and enter password then tap OK 13. Skip past Server as this is preset as Not set 14. Tap MMSC then tap the text box and enter http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 then tap OK 15. Tap MMS proxy then tap the text box and enter 193.113.200.195 then tap OK 16. Tap MMS port then tap the text box and enter 8080 then tap OK 17. Tap MCC then tap the text box and enter 234 then tap OK 18. Tap MNC then tap the text box and enter 10 then tap OK 19. Tap Authentication type and tap PAP 20. Tap APN type and type Internet + MMS 21. Press the 3 Dots on the Top Right of the screen 22. Tap Save 23. Tap the circle next to the new profile so a green dot appears in it 24. Press the Back key four times to return to the main menu. 25. Switch your handset off and then back on to complete your settings. All the info is there in the APN, but there's no circle icon to select the connection option, meaning I can't follow step 23, and there's no way to get access. Any ideas anyone? Sorry for the long post. :/
  20. The Android Thread

Right folks, I have two issues with two seperate HTC's. The battery life on my HTC One X seems to be getting worse (though it might just be me.) After only using it for around 6 hours, the battery went down to 15%, and I didn't even use it much. I have been keeping it on and plugged in overnight, but I work so far away, that I have no choice but to do that. I'm guessing that could be part of the problem, but then I've only done this over the past week. I checked what was using so much power earier and it said that Android OS had used around 45% of the battery, which seems very wrong. My girlfriend managed to get the screen repaired on my old HTC Desire, so I gave her the phone. She restored it to factory settings to wipe all the old data, then installed an update (which she says updated it to Android 2.2) via wifi. However, she can't seem to get the mobile internet to connect. She turns it on, but nothing happens, although wifi works fine. The phone was originally on contract with Vodafone, and she's now using an Orange sim card, but then it was bought from Phones 4 U, so it should be completely unlocked, right? She's scanned for available networks, and Orange appeared, so I have no idea how this is happening. EDIT: Fixed. She didn't have APN settings on her phone. Thanks if anyone can help with these issues, because I'm stumped.
  21. The Android Thread

Oh yeah, it really is. I've already turned down the brightness to help save the battery life. It does help..... a bit.
  22. The Android Thread

I think it's the quad core processor that drains the battery mostly. The update will increase the battery life to about 10 hours if it's in constant use, which is not bad. Thats not including idle time. Just depends when it's out and when networks roll it out.
  23. The Android Thread

Got myself the HTC One X the other day, and it's amazing! The battery is a bit of an issue if you're not careful, but a patch is on the way to fix it. Other than that, I've had no other issues. I'll post more impressions soon.
  24. Resident Evil 6

Oh. My. GOD! That actually looks amazing! Definitely way too many spoilers though, I'm going to try and avoid any info on this from now on (and I'll probably fail. ) In regards to the trailer though...
  25. Xbox 360 Console Discussion

Okay, this is a total noob question, but I can't find this anywhere in the settings; does anyone know how to turn off the 4 button password when signing in? I find it kind of annoying...
