  1. I'm currently using a Samsung Syncmaster 204BW 22" monitor. It's over 5 years old now, and it's really starting to show it's age. I'm noticing screen tearing issues, even with v-sync on in most games. I'm not exactly savvy with how monitors work, but would I benefit from a monitor with 2ms response times and/or 120hz? I know it's not likely, but would there be a monitor out there that doesn't require me to use the v-sync option in games? I'd preferably be interested in a monitor that is 22", has a variety of resolutions and is £150 at the most. Thanks if anyone has any suggestions.
  2. Looking to buy a new monitor, any suggestions?

Thanks for all the help. I decided to get the Acer one in the end, it should be here tomorrow, can't wait!
  3. Looking to buy a new monitor, any suggestions?

Thanks again! Just found this one, I think it's an amazing deal! We may have a winner here: http://www.ebuyer.com/393375-acer-g246hlb-24-led-lcd-hdmi-monitor-um-fg6ee-b01 I was hoping to get one with the brightness at 300 cd/m2... but I guess I have to make sacrifices at that price. Although, it wouldn't make a ton of difference, would it?
  4. Looking to buy a new monitor, any suggestions?

Cheers for the reply! I have a friend that also recommended this monitor: http://www.ebuyer.com/281652-benq-gl2250-22-lcd-dvi-monitor-9h-l6vlb-qpu Would you recommend that over the others, or are the ones you linked better? Thanks again if you can help...
  5. Bioshock: Infinite

Thanks for the help! After your tip, plus finding some other tweaks as well, the game is a lot smoother. I now appear to be getting 40-60fps. Thanks again. In fact, for those of you still having issues, here's another change to the 'xengine.ini' file I found from someone on the Steam forums:
  6. Bioshock: Infinite

Absolutely loving this game, the gameplay is fluid, and Elizabeth is amazing! Still doesn't feel like a 10/10 game so far though, but it's definitely brilliant. Although I'm having having issues running the PC version on Very High/Ultra. I have a PC with a Core i5-3750K @ 3.4GHZ, 8GB DDR3 RAM and a GeForce GTX570 Golden Sample graphics card. However, when I run the game at 1080p with the options set to very high/ultra, and do the benchmark test, the frame rate can drop to around 16fps. I even just tried running it at 1600x1024, and it still drops below 30fps at times. Any ideas anyone? Thanks if you can help...
  7. Tomb Raider

Here's my review, for those interested:
  8. Deus Ex: Human Revolution Directors Cut

I never asked for this... Well, someone had to do it! Seriously though, I really don't see how this is commercially viable. They're charging full price for a two year old game that can be bought with the DLC for under £20. I don't think it'll be worth it, unless the new features are mind-blowingly amazing, which I sincerely doubt. Don't get me wrong, DX: HR is an incredible game, but I just don't see why they bothered to create this Wii U port.
  9. Doctor Who

Alternate trailer in this article: http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/03/16/doctor-who-trailer-matt-smith/ Looks great, I'm excited! The trailer posted earlier is better though, seems like this half on series 7 is going to be epic!
  10. Tomb Raider

Just completed this. All I can say is, it's absolutely incredible, definitely one of the greatest games I've played in a very long time. The characterization, design, gameplay... almost everything was just spot on. I did find the AI a little too dumb at first, but in the later parts of the game, they're more challenging. I'm not a massive fan of the number quick time events either, but they still do kind of work (although I've never really been a massive fan of QTEs.)
  11. Saints Row IV

AWESOME!!! It looks like tons of fun, and more mental than ever, which is not a bad thing at all. The music kicks ass too, anyone know what the song is? It sounds so familiar...
  12. Tomb Raider

Haven't had tons of time to play this, but here's some of my initial impressions:
  13. Tomb Raider

Not played it yet, but got the Survival Edition. Here's my unboxing: I'm itching to play it!!!
  14. A new site: Work in Progress

You may have noticed my sig recently, teasing something called 'Work in Progress' and you may have been wondering what it's all about. Well, wonder no more, because it's here! A site dedicated to gaming, movies and music. Point your browsers to http://wiphq.co.uk My friends and I started a while ago, but we ran out of steam, and put everything on hold for a while. However, we decided to concentrate on it once again, and we now even have our own proper site! If you wish to visit us, it'd be great to see feedback on the site, and our content. We've got a lot planned, so stay tuned! [Note to mods: Sorry if this is against the rules in any way. If so, feel free to lock the thread.]
  15. A new site: Work in Progress

Thanks for the feedback. I've talked to my mate, who actually sorts out the site layout, and he should have sorted the spelling errors now. As for the look, it's part of the limitations of Joomla. I suggested we use something else, but he was insistent on it. To be honest, it isn't a terrible editor, it's just going to take some getting used to. It'll definitely evolve over time though, stay tuned for more folks!
  16. PlayStation 4 Console Discussion

Ok, now I've watched the conference fully, I only have this to say to Sony... Next gen... bring it the fuck on!!!!
  17. PlayStation 4 Console Discussion

    Thanks! Will watch it shortly.
  18. PlayStation 4 Console Discussion

I've seen some gameplay trailers, and I'm not exactly sold yet. It looks damn promising though! However, I missed the conference last night, as I have to get up stupidly early for work every day. Is there anywhere I can watch it from the start? All the sites I've visited so far go to the Ustream feed, which starts part-way in... :/
  19. GRID 2

I wonder what this could be.... http://www.theracereturns.com #theracereturns
  20. Formula 1 2013

The start of the downfall of Lewis Hamilton? As for the liverys and car designs, they look rather nice! Not long till the 2013 season kicks of now, exciting!
  21. Xbox One Console Discussion

Well, if next-gen consoles are going to pull this 'trying to abolish the second hand market' bullshit, then count me out. Seriously, how do they think this is a good idea?! It's going to put gamers off. Say you want to get rid of a game that's actually complete crap? Nope, can't do that. You wouldn't be able to even lend your game to a friend! Let's not forget that this would completely screw over some businesses that rely on second hand games
  22. Adverts that Blow 2013

Example 1: That kid seems like the most spoiled little brat ever. She deserves a slap and needs to be told to STFU! (I know it's acting, but it's still as annoying as fuck!) Example 2: I think this pic I just made sums up the Maccy's advert... Example 3: The Go Compare guy was never funny... He needs to go away now.
  23. Formula 1 2013

The new Sauber looks nice, loving the livery! It does look suspiciously like the old 2010 HRT livery though... :p
  24. Formula 1 2013

The Ferrari looks nice! The higher nose is so much better, plus the livery is great. Plus, at least the pics are a decent size for a desktop background. Force India looks interesting too, although how much difference actually is there?
  25. PlayStation 4 Console Discussion

Damn, how over the top is that trailer?! xD February 20th should be interesting though!
