  1. Apparently, every single one of Arsenal's 23 man outfield squad (with the exception of Campbell) has been injured in 2015 at one point. They should take whatever Campbell is on. And bottle it. Or.....can it.

Not sure you can claim it as your joke when it was ripped off the BBC sportspage!

  2. You've been in KPMG for about 2 years now, move on if they're not treating you well and you've completed your CIMA/equivalent. Any of the Big 4 will take you and loads of smaller bespoke firms. All with a pay rise larger than any of your colleagues at KPMG will be receiving.

Try 4 years :p You may be thinking of Zell?

I would consider leaving but if I get a promotion, I get £5k for loyalty bonus making it all the way to manager and reckon I could make that soonish. Quite a tempter to stay..

  3. Had my pay discussion today and having spoken to my friends, seems I've been given a lower pay rise compared to them despite getting really good feedback. I suspect this may be because I'm due to be moving to a new department that may not pay as much.

It has irked be because my hard work over the past year has led to nothing and I have to stick around in this department for at least two months next year so I'm considering just coasting. However I can't help but feel the need to do a good job so doubt I'll follow through with that.

  4. So I always wondered how everyone was benching so much more than me but I found out it is because I never take the weight of the bar into account!

So I'm here doing 70-75 thinking pretty poor after having done it for a while but turns out the bar is 15-20 so really I'm doing fine.

  5. Don't know, it just says it will be collected through my tax code in 2016, so I assume that means monthly payments.

Essentially yes your new company screwed up and should have sorted out old and new but you still have to pay the tax so really it is money that should have been paid this year.

It will come out on a monthly basis next year as your tax free allowance spread across the 12 months will be reduced to pay it off across the year. Essentially you've had a bit of extra money than should have done this year so could be construed as a benefit...sort of.

  6. Don't forget personality and body!

Moog - did you not send a text earlier in the day asking if still up for meeting up? Surely you always need to double check!

Also, I've been the 'other' guy, this was back when we were all like 15 so I don't feel bad about it but now I couldn't do it and neither should you. Like others have said, think how you would feel if you were the guy.

Plus no chance of anything more happening because could never trust her!

  7. Depends if you count old league, that was all about Oddy (I won some too)!

I'm still chipping away but been focusing on team so lost a few games here and there in middle league waiting to be strong enough for the top league.

My first game was ridiculous, dominated in most aspects and lost 1-0. Results like that just make me frustrated with the game, yes there needs to be luck but that already makes me less likely to play.

Sad to see a few big names bowing out but it happens. Can't get rid of me just yet though!

  8. 1. I'm not sure when tickets come out but it's around new year or even before. We got our tickets using Silverstone finance (0% interest!) and we'll be at Stowe this year.

    2. Yes, it's incredible. My jaw dropped the first time I saw a F1 car..even under the current regulations they are stunning. I was sat at Copse last year when Alonso overtook Vettel around the outside...it's something I'll remember for a long time.

    3. GA at Silverstone gives you some great views but you need to get there VERY early (like 8am) to get a good view. For that reason alone I'd recommend getting a grandstand seat..Vale/Club offer great views as does Luffield. Stowe is brilliant too...watching cars come flying at 300kph is pretty special.

    4. If it's your first time I'd recommend going on Saturday and Sunday. 3 days is pretty intense and exhausting...P3, Qualifying and the Race is perfect :-)

If you don't mind me asking. How much did you pay?

  9. I thought Buffon had a decent game, he made a fantastic save in the first half. Unsighted and going away from him to stop Neymar's volley.

He did parry Messi's shot into Suarez, but it had a bit too much fizz to be able to catch I think.

  10. How Vidal wasn't sent off I don't know. What was he thinking that first 20 or so minutes??

Barca's front three are simply mesmerising at times and had enough chances, think at least 5 v 3 twice in the game which they wasted. Not quite the same spectacle as last year but still a good game of two top sides. I don't think any English team deserved to be in that final against those two.

    Maybe Chelsea :p

  11. So is it Canada you're going to go to as well but in 2016?

I think it depends when tickets go on sale. Certainly I've always bought mine in the year of the race, but I have a feeling some races like Silverstone start releasing theirs not long after that years Grand Prix. It usually seems to be within the first few months of the year that GP's offer discounts from 5% (in the case of Spa) to 20% on their tickets. Although again, this window may be staggered to when the race takes place.

Is it a worthwhile experience, absolutely!

Monza was one of the best experiences/holidays of my life (thanks to the weather, fans, access, history), and Spa is right up there with it too (because again the weather was largely fantastic and the track is just so cool to walk around). Sure some of that might depend on the weather, the atmosphere at the circuit, where you're watching it from etc... but pick a good track and you're in for a fantastic time. Canada would certainly be that.

What ticket again depends on the circuit you choose and how much you want to spend.

If you're going to a circuit with a high chance of rain, you might find having a grandstand with a roof makes a massive difference to how much you enjoy it. Then there's the type of experience you want. Do you want to sit on the pit straight and see the cars and grid in the build up to the race, watch the race start and have good access to the podium at the end of the race. Or does the track you're going to have something very special about it that it's worth experiencing, such as Eau Rouge at Spa? For a track like Hungary, a general admission ticket actually provides you some of the best views of the circuit.

Again if it's Canada you're thinking about, the grandstands at the turn 2 hairpin look like a fantastic place to watch from.

How many days is it worth going for?

Well for me Thursday is a fantastic day to spend at the circuit and that's only available with a 3 day ticket. Typically the crowds are far lower, you can spend your time walking around the track, perhaps deciding where to watch the race from if you have a general admission ticket. They also open up the pits for a pit walk and an opportunity to see drivers and get autographs. If you're going abroad, then making a holiday out of it and getting a 3 day ticket tends to make sense. Maybe you don't go to the circuit on the Friday, or Friday morning/afternoon if you want to do some site seeing.

Sorry I was a little unclear. My mate has gone to Canada which made me think about Silverstone, given it is easier to get to for a first time to a GP.

Great answers though, will have to consider the 3 day ticket if it gets the fourth visit day as well! Thanks :)

  12. Fellow F1 fans, I have questions for those that have attended Silverstone/ any GPs.

My friend is off on a trip to Canada to watch the GP this weekend and I thought it would be a great idea to finally go see it and get another ticket as a present for my dad. Though I think he'll be in the US for 2015, I'm just a far ahead thinker for 2016.

    Just a couple of questions:

    a) When do tickets normally come out? Research suggests January?

    b) Is it a worthwhile experience?

    c) Would you recommend general admission or another area/ ticket type?

    d) Is it really worth going all 3 days or just for race day? Obviously, it is economically more efficient to go for 3 days as the price isn't much higher, but then you have accomodation/ travel time and costs factoring in to that as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
