  1. Well seems like badges have already sold out. Pokemon Company just sprung that on people like a month before it all happened and now there's none left. I hope they get some more stock in, I will be trying every morning to see if I can get any.
  2. Your Gaming Diary 2022

So after being unable to get Omori on PS5, I could have possibly got it on Switch, but for various reasons decided not to. After running into a dead end with Meat Boy, I decided to forgo putting it off and went and swapped one precision platformer for another, starting Celeste. I should be able to finish this game pretty soon to be honest, not sure if I'm going to do the extra levels or the additional chapters but I might do. In terms of progress, I have just finished The Mirror Temple, so next up is Chapter 6. After that is finished I have also bought another indie game (really on the indie train now). I have purchased the RPG CrossCode which is supposed to be really good, has some Zelda elements to it too.
  3. Hollow Knight: Silksong

If I had to guess, it won't be out until next year.
  4. Sonic Frontiers

Internet has been blowing up over this... and not necessarily in a good way. Honestly, Sega's handling of this game has been poor from a marketing point of view, it seems like they are intentionally making the game look bad. Is it a bad game? Not really the place to be able to tell just yet if I'm honest. Conceptually open world Sonic game is an amazing idea and being able to run through blaze through open fields at blinding speed sounds really fun. There's a level in Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart that was wide open and let you zoom about with rocket boots and that really felt like what Sonic Frontiers as a game should be. But its just difficult to have much faith in Sonic Team to make good games anymore. Maybe Frontiers will buck the trend. The only Sonic-likes are in the indie space so by default the originator should be the standard setter. The fact that these indies and fan games are favorably comparable to the official stuff is both a great thing for the indies but also damning on Sonic Team who with a much bigger budget and greater resources *should* have the most polished game of this type.
  5. Switch eShop Thread

I hear this Omori game that released this week on Switch is supposed to be very good. Though, its also something of a horror RPG and very much an adult game so there is that...
  6. Playstation 5 Console Discussion

So Omori was supposed to come out on all consoles yesterday. However, despite the fact that the Xbox and Switch got it (the Switch in some regions) the game is mysteriously absent on the Playstation despite the fact that it was supposed to come out yesterday...
  7. Your Gaming Diary 2022

After two and a half months... I have finally finished Elden Ring. The highlights of the last month of Twitter playing the game were certainly interesting... Still modding Rivals of Aether on the side but going over previous projects to improve quality and taking my time over things. It'll be a while before the next one is ready. I'm planning on moving on to Super Meat Boy next. I still need to finish that game and I got it back in 2013...
  8. Elden Ring (25th February 2022)

I REALLY struggled with that fight quite a lot. It forced me to leave Volcano Manor and go out to find the Mimic Tear in order to be able to beat it. Now I'm in the lategame and am on my way to go after the last Great Runes.
  9. Your Gaming Diary 2022

Been quite quiet on these forums revcently and not all of it has been due to Elden Ring. But yes, I'm still playing Elden Ring and I'm still not anywhere near done yet. This game is ridiculous in its scope, to the point that I've found three entirely optional areas that are absolutely huge. In terms of progress I'm on Level 89 now with four Great Runes and currently going for the fifth one. I'm in Leyndell, Royal Capital and the enemies in here are all really strong. My armour options are quickly becoming outdated and I'm craving some decent mid tier armour. The fact you can't upgrade your armour in this game is something I am sorely missing. However I've picked up a few neat goodies that are significantly better than what I had before. I'd been using the Raya Lucaria Soldiers as my main Spirit Ashes but now I'm using the Mimic Tear. For just 660HP I get an exact copy of myself and since I'm using the Nightrider Flail, if we attack the same enemy at the same time that bleed buildup increases rapidly and we do so much damage to bosses in the process. This really helped as for a long time I was stuck on the Godskin Noble. With the Mimic Tear however we absolutely annihilated it. I then went and beat Rykard and... the fight is cool don't get me wrong but in a game where you're given so many options and encouraged to customise, suddenly restrcting those options for just one fight and requiring you to use a specific weapon? Not a fan really. I wouldn't have much of an issue if the options were already limited but this is a game that encourages you to really carve your own path and your own upgrades. This boss fight concept really clashes with that as a whole unfortunately. I did die a few times trying to use my normal setup before finding out that the weapon they want you to use shoots a big gust of wind from long range for that fight only to help you fight the boss. Leyndell is also a bit of a maze. I've got my Keen Nightrider Flail up to +18 now and my Brass Shield is up to +16. At this point, so many Smithing stones are useless to me now, only ones that are Level 6 or higher are any use and 7 in particular is needed to level up my Flail. I found one in Neskell but haven't found any others just yet. Aside from that? Spent a lot of time in Rivals of Aether but most of it was simply to patch a character several times over after stern criticism and glitches were found. Distracted me from progress in Elden Ring quite a bit but now I'm moving towards making a video on Rivals to show off some extra features. For example, someone made a Pit which has the same Palutena's Guidance as it does in Smash Bros, with the option to be supported by custom Workshop characters so I really want to be able to show some of these, even if they are all fan written. I'm currently compiling the video footage and making an intro for the video.
  10. Your Gaming Diary 2022

OK so I have made major progress in Elden Ring. I have not only beaten Margit but also beaten the next major boss in the game, Goderick. I am now Level 35 and the Jellyfish Summon has been of great help. As was Nephil against Goderick. As a team of three we laid waste to Goderick. My friends have been pretty much playing this non stop ever since they got it, so as a result I'm the guy furthest behind in the game so far but that's mainly because I've been working on something else too which was finally released yesterday... https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2782300518
  11. Switch eShop Thread

They just said Spring 2022, the actual date wasn't revealed until this Saturday.
  12. Do you know when tickets are available? This has been on my radar as somewhere I really want to go to this year.
  13. Switch eShop Thread

Going to take a wild guess and say that this applies to Switch too.
  14. Your Gaming Diary 2022

So I did eventually beat Rift Apart. Fun game overall although my successful attempt at defeating the final boss was down to a glitch which I found while warming up for a certain other game... With Rift Apart beaten, the first physical PS5 in the collection down the coast was clear to get the next one. This game has been on my radar as one of the games coming out in 2022 that I really wanted to get and its also only the second SoulsBourne I've ever played... that's right, I now have Elden Ring. My adventure in the land of Limgrave has certainly been an interesting one so far... I'm at Level 20 or so right now and I started out with the Samurai class, reason being that by the end of Dark Souls I found myself in a dexterity build because being able to move around and combo the enemy is good. So I'm building towards a proper setup for that, I've moved away from my initial gear and have a +3 Rapier, though I'm hoping to find a weapon with B or A Dexterity scaling in the future. Right now however I'm stuck on Margit, the first phase I can handle but the second phase the move I was abusing to hit him he no longer does and the absolutely massive range he has makes it extremely difficult to avoid his attacks. Yeah, Get Gud and all that (or Margit Margud), I know, but in some ways having more health and more attacks does increase the confidence in me to try new things and learn how to avoid the attacks. The timing is pretty strict with dexterity mind, frame perfect dodges are the only way to really avoid much of the attacks so far.
  15. Your Gaming Diary 2022

Finished Pokemon Legends Arceus earlier in February. Really enjoyed it, best Pokemon game on Switch. Although, Scarlet and Violet may potentially change that! I've moved on to the other game I got recently, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. So far pretty good game though there are several moments where I died over and over again because I couldn't see where I had to jump to link on a grind rail, and the checkpoints give you little time to react to that part. Aside from all of that my game progress has been a bit slow because there's always something new in Rivals of Aether plus the amount of time it takes to mod a character into it, meaning I skipped getting Elden Ring on launch like I originally intended because I wanted to beat Rift Apart first.
  16. I am now in the final lord area of Hisui. Team will be posted below in spoiler boxes but suffice to say everyone is now fully evolved. Very physical attacking team this with Crobat and Garchomp also being extremely fast to boot. The levelling is getting annoying for my OCD though, having to box my Decidueye because he's so far ahead in experience compared to everyone else and a full level, so the rest need to catch up with him a bit. Also, I had to make this Twitter post lol... And here's some I can share publicly...
  17. Surely Shovel Knight has to make a cameo in this game right? I think its easy to pidgeon hole indie studios into their association with one particular indie game. There's tons of indie games out there by so many different studios and doing it alone takes a lot of time, if one gets traction and becomes popular the way Shovel Knight has, then your studio becomes known as the Shovel Knight guys. While I would have loved for them to make a Shovel Knight 2, I do have respect for YCG for wanting to diversify their portfolio and make something new. Besides, doing an indie game sequel to a game that carved out a devoted fanbase brings its own pressures, your a small dev team, sometimes just a single person, working with the weight and demands of millions of people who don't understand that making an indie game takes even longer than the amount of time big studios can create sequels to their IPs. The most high profile example of that has to be Hollow Knight Silkesong. Fans are begging Team Cherry to show off the game ever more even though Team Cherry is a 3 man operation developing a sequel to an indie game that was almost as large as most triple A games. The sequel is going to take a lot of time! Indie scene has come a long way since Shovel Knight came out in 2014 although thanks to his numerous cameos I think he remains one of the most popular indie characters to this day. I will admit I never really did much more than the base campaign back in 2014, I did start Plague Knight's campaign but didn't get very far with it. Good luck to YCG. They're clearly a very talented game studio so I'm sure by the time this is out it will be a good game. At the very least I'm sure The Completionist will make a review of it!
  18. Your Gaming Diary 2022

So in January I went a bit mad with buying games and increasing my backlog. I saw Celeste going cheap on PS5 and having had the game on my wishlist for years I decided to finally buy it. The catch? I want to beat Super Meat Boy first. I did delve into the PS5's free game, Astro's Playroom. Fantastic little game, feels like Super Mario Galaxy in many ways! Lots of cool little easter eggs in the game... and a singing GPU. I have finished this game now. Then Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel got released and I caved and downloaded that, also on PS5. I built one deck (Rokkets) and was able to rank up a bit. I stopped playing it once Legends Arceus came out. So yeah, now Pokemon Legends Arceus is my main game but I also bought Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart on the same day, I was going to get it at some point after all. And this doesn't even account for the fact that I bought Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars on Wii U VC before they stopped taking credit. All this while also working on two Rivals of Aether character mods, as well as Meat Boy I'm also doing this...
  19. Your 2021 Gaming Diary

I'm going to finish off this topic with what I did for gaming in 2021 since I never got around to posting what I did for the rest of the year. In spite of having a PS5 by this point all of my gaming was basically just playing Rivals of Aether as well as getting to World 5 in Super Meat Boy, my furthest ever point. Indeed, the two became related, I began work on a Super Meat Boy mod. But that is still in development to this day due to numerous reasons: Turns out this guy doesn't have the time to do the spriting, leading to the recruitment of another spriter who was also quite busy so now I'm scrabbling around for more people to help with this mod. Reeling from this and wanting something to do modwise I went and remastered an old mod that had been abandoned by the original modder and was in desperate need of some maintanance, then proceeded to start a seperate project on the side of Meat Boy, that one really got going in 2022 so I'll talk more about it in the 2022 thread. So yeah, 2021's gaming was: Crash Bandicoot 4: Its About Time Magic the Gathering Arena Ratchet & Clank (2016) Castlevania: Symphony of the Night NieR; Replicant Version 1.42... Metroid Prime Hunters Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair Deltarune Chapter 2 Metroid Dread Rivals of Aether Super Meat Boy As well as numerous Zelda, Metroid and Sonic replays for Youtube videos. But things change in 2022...
  20. @Hero of Time Whoops, yeah should have thought about that before being all blazé about posting the team. Anyway, I have been playing all day and now in the area that becomes Mt. Coronet in the future. It took so long to get a Male Basculin that it ended up being my final team member acquired, I got the 5th team member first. And yes, that means the team is fully complete, six Pokemon all named after characters from different Indie game franchises, most of which make logical sense apart from Shovel Knight which is based on a joke...
  21. Been absent from this place for a bit, so want to make up for that somewhat. I was busy with Rivals of Aether modding but I had to pick this game up on launch and I'm really enjoying it. It is leaning on a lot of Breath of the Wild imagery in it but its got a lot of its own stuff going on. I'm currently on Firespit Island so a fair way through the game. This is my current team: The emphasis on catching Pokemon naturally means I've been catching everything I can find, boxing those who aren't main team members. That being said, this has to be the first Pokemon game that my team has changed in so many times over as I find out what you can get, and subsequently elaborating and changing things when I found out some unexpected things. I have also used a Ponyta, Luxio, Floatzel, Croagunk and Machoke on my team before finally getting the Pokemon I wanted for the team. The nicknaming theme for my team this time around is Indie game characters in case you couldn't quite tell, The Conductor being the owl from A Hat in Time, Laylee being from Yooka-Laylee, The Knight from Hollow Knight, Orcane from Rivals of Aether whose moveset was based on a Vaporeon fan moveset and Annoying Dog... everyone knows that one! I intend to replace Orcane with a Male Basculin but I'm having trouble finding Male Basculin, they've all been female. Since you can't breed for them, it might be difficult to find a male Basculin...
  22. Favourite Gaming Christmas Memory?

I could probably go on a huge list of games that I got on Christmas on a year by year basis... in fact I think I probably will and then elaborate on things. 2000: Who Want's to Be a Millionaire and Pokemon Pinball 2001: Didn't get any new video games 2002: Game Boy Camera and Game Boy Printer 2003: Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup 2004: The Gamecube, Mario Kart Double Dash, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Spider-Man 2 Yeah this one is easily the biggest gaming Christmas I'd ever had. After being told I wasn't allowed to have home consoles for years and living in a small room we eventually found a solution where the old TV had been replaced so I was able to use that old TV on a specific mounted wall bracket hard drilled into the wall in order to play Gamecube games. Didn't matter that I didn't have TV signal, I just wanted to play Gamecube. This Christmas is notable just for being the biggest sea change in my gaming habits at the time as I'd previously been PC and handheld only. The wall bracket saw six months of use before we moved house and I got a more conventional TV setup. It didn't last too long! 2005: Mario Kart DS 2006: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess So I go this on Wii even though I didn't have a Wii, it was technically my first ever Wii game. 2007: Metroid: Zero Mission 2008: Sonic Unleashed, Wi-Fi access and Donkey Kong Country This Christmas was notable for finally allowing me to play online on the Wii thanks to our new Wi-Fi router, also unlocking all the Wii's online features that I didn't really have access to for the first two years of owning the console, so in addition to the main game I was getting on the console, Sonic Unleased, I delved into Virtual Console to finally play the classic Donkey Kong Country I'd heard so much about. 2009: The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks 2010: Donkey Kong Country Returns 2011: Not sure on this one, it might be a digital 3DS game so either Metroid II or Link's Awakening or I might have bought either. 2012: Didn't get a game this Christmas 2013: Ratchet & Clank on PS2 2014: The Wii U. 10 years on from getting a Gamecube it was almost a mirror image in how I obtained a new Nintendo console with Mario Kart bundled in it about halfway through its life and also coming with additional games in FIFA 13 and Mass Effect 3. This time I supplemented that lineup with Super Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. And like the Gamecube the Wii U has been useful for so long after its retirement in part because of its digital librarly, seriously the Virtual Console has kept my Wii U in use for years in addition to its original library. 2015: Xenoblade Chronicles X I think its pretty indicative that my Wii U library of games that aren't Virtual Console was about 90% complete by the time this Christmas came around, the limited library was a curse in the long run but I think the Wii U had a pretty solid 2015 all things considered. This coming out towards the end was actually my first modern open world game. Even if I did drop it after about 25% of the way through to play Undertale 2016: No game this year 2017: No game, already had too many games to go through and Chrono Trigger and Xenoblade 2 ensured I'd be busy 2018: No game, I just played Kingdom Hearts instead to prepare for III. I think by this point I just stopped getting games for Christmas. Most of the time games I'm interested now I'm just old enough to go out and buy on launch day.
  23. Yeah, 2022 is absolutely nuts for some of the games that are coming out in it. Not sure how many of them I'm actually going to get but now I have a PS5 it will probably be getting some of the games that you can only get on that console. So starting with PS5 plans: Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart - This may yet be a 2021 purchase for me but probably better placed as something to play in the early part of January, I still have to start Astro's Playroom after all. But Rift Apart is definitely a game I want to play through on PS5 even if I haven't really played any of the newer Ratchet games outside of the 2016 remake when that was given away for free. So it will be good to play a game that isn't attached to level design I already knew of. Plus it would funnily enough be a year after playing Crash 4 which has some similar mechanics. Guardians of the Galaxy - This looked pretty decent and the general feedback I've seen on Youtube suggests this is actually a very good game. I like the Spider-Man games so any good Marvel game is something I'd definitely look into. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade - Intending to upgrade my PS4 copy of FFVIIR to a PS5 copy so that I can play all of the new content. Super Mario RPG - With WiiU eShop closing I need to get on it and buy Super Mario RPG before I miss out on the chance of ever being able to play it. Pokemon Legends Arceus - The first big purchase of 2022 easily. I skipped Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl because of this game, it looks a lot more original than BDSP and I really hope it does well, otherwise I fear this series may go into a stale state where we get nothing but low quality lazy games. Elden Ring - I have multiple friends who are into Dark Souls and after finally beating Dark Souls 1 myself last year it finally opens the door to play more of these types of games, but with Elden Ring coming I decided it would be a better idea to wait until the newest game from FromSoftware released and get that as my next experience. Finally that game is arriving, Elden Ring will be a game I play a lot and talk about with my friends... and then not finish for another 5 years while they've already beaten it! Splatoon 3 - This comes with the caveat that I generally don't do much multiplayer in these types of games and tend to play more of the single player content, so hopefully Splatoon 3 has good single player. They at least seem to be trying to expand on the formula from the first two games for this one which could make for a really good title. Those last three are the definitive big studio games that I'm looking at, may get Chocobo GP if I feel like it to try and stall off Mario Kart pings but honestly Elden Ring is going to last a very long time and that game alone will probably take up much of my time on the console. Similarly I haven't got round to getting Castlevania Advance Collection yet. I'm not really into tactical RPGs so Triangle Strategy gets a hard pass from me. I MIGHT be tempted to play FFVI again through the pixel remaster though... Of course, this list seems quite short right now but actually its going to be a lot longer than this because I'm looking more at the indie scene, especially since getting Rivals of Aether. I have found myself accuring a big list of indie games I'm interested in getting that have already been out for a number of years. These games being: Hyper Light Drifter - This one managed to pass me by a while back but been looking for a decent indie game inspired by top down Zelda games and this seems like one of the better received ones with its own identiy. Crosscode - Similar to HLD but with its own Zelda like gameplay combined with elements from Square Enix JRPGs. Since Final Fantasy VI is my favourite game of all time and this game draws from games like FFVI and Chrono Trigger this is on my radar to check out at some point. Supposed to be really good but hasn't really been given mass exposure so the only accounts are from the minority that have actually played it. Seems up my alley though so might have to join the cult of Crosscode lol. Downwell - I hadn't really heard of this game until relatively recently but Welltaro's inclusion in Indie crossovers like Indie Pogo and a game I'm going to be mentioning in the future as well as being a mod on Rivals of Aether. Fun fact, the creator of this game went on to work for Nintendo for a year but then quit his job after that just to go indie again! Slay the Spire - Partly because of @drahkon's glowing praise, partly because I'm into card games like MTG but also because of the character's inclusion in a game I'll be mentioning in the future. This has definitely been one of those games that looks really good and something I want to check out in the future, though I must admit I've never really got into roguelikes which is probably what's keeping me from getting this game. Cadence of Hyrule - This should be obvious, surprised I haven't got it yet. Celeste - Yeah... I haven't actually played this game. Despite all the glowing praise it gets. Its similarity to Super Meat Boy though does make me want to finish the latter before considering a purchase of Celeste. This has been on my list for a while when I shortlisted it with two other Indie games and only wanted to get one, the other two being one still on the list and the one I actually went with, Hollow Knight. The Messenger - The Completionist gave this one really good reviews so its been on my radar for a while but looking at its gameplay style I'm not sure whether it is my style of game or not, which has been somewhat detracting me from getting it since it seems to be based on Ninja Gaiden while also being a Metroidvania with this cool 8-bit/16-bit switch styles of play. That's it as far as indie games that are already out. I am slower to pick these up but things may chance for these upcoming three indie games that are out next year. Fraymakers - Comes out in Early Access next year. Created by the developers of Super Smash Flash and featuring a roster of Commander Video, Octodad, Orcane, Fishbunjin, Welltaro and The Watcher, this is looking like the game that might well just be the definitve "Indie Smash Bros" game. All the fighters are from various indie games and there's an extensive assist system which also features a number of other indies. The game is going to have four other full time fighters and they are polling people based on what they want, so chances are we're going to see some big name additions to the roster, I'm hoping they can get either The Knight or Hornet as playable fighters on the base roster as well as Hat Kid since neither of them have really been in indie crossovers, in fact I think both have only made one appearance outside of their own indie games as cameos. But it doesn't really matter if your favourite doesn't make it in because Fraytools is going to be available almost immediately giving this game a huge modding scene which will pretty much make it more than just an indie fighter, it'll be a MUGEN fighter. Depending on how usable Fraytools is and whether it can be done on consoles I could see the modding support come to consoles which leaves the Switch as an option for it. Freedom Planet 2 - I'm going to fully admit that for a large portion of this year I wasn't going to get this game, Sonic Mania had already scratched the itch for a fast paced 2D action platformer to the point it had killed my interest in getting the FP sequel, however with the current direction that Sega is going in, with Sonic Mania 2 looking likely to never happen and eventually after checking out gameplay for this game I can see this is a significant improvement over the first game with all the issues fixed. Not that the first game was bad by any means but I did feel like the story dragged the game down somewhat from the otherwise excellent gameplay and because Mania was so good I'd forgotten a lot more about what FP did differently on its own merits. Regardless, the sequel is ridiculous in its scope and its extensive time in development is making it look like a much better game. That and the fact that I know one of the level designers on Discord and so feel obliged to buy the game to support her efforts OMORI - We may never get an officially localised version of Mother 3 and since I don't play on emulators I'm probably never playing the fan translation. Therefore, this game looks likely to be the closest thing we get to Mother 3. Technically already out but I want to play it on Switch moreso so therefore 2022 it is. All I know is that its good, but that to know any more would be to spoil the story. Overall my actual most anticipated games in the long run are Breath of the Wild 2, Metroid Prime 4 and Hollow Knight: Silkesong but no idea when any of those are coming out so will just have to wait and see how those pan out. Final Fantasy XVI is another that I'm looking at in the future but I suspect that game is going to be a ways from releasing. Hopefully inserting an X into the title of my favourite game of all time will still make it a good game.
