  1. The Avengers (and other Marvel games)

This new job listing from Crystal Dynamics seems to suggest that the game will take after the likes of Destiny and The Division.
  2. God of War (PS4)

I don’t care much for Metacritic when it comes to a lot of things, but this game is now the second-highest ranking PS4 game with an average rating of 95, and is also the highest-ranking PS4 exclusive (above it, on 97, is GTAV). I was modestly interested when it was revealed, but after all of the attention that it’s garnered, I can’t help but add it to the games I want to play once my exams are over. Sony’s absolutely killing it yet again this year.
  3. I can’t speak for you guys as I don’t know you personally, but I think I fall into IGN’s demographic quite nicely (I’m 19) and I’m not a fan of anything that they do anymore besides [some] of their reviews. I used to love Beyond and NVC (that period between José leaving and Filip joining was great, as Peer is the right sort of guy to host and control a panel), and even Game Scoop!, but I unsubscribed to all of them a few months back because I had a real problem with how I wasn’t gaining anything (be it knowledge or even a chuckle) from listening to them as opposed to anyone else. I’m only subscribed to EZA (main podcast, Frame Trap, Tabletop Escapades) and Game Informer now for podcasts, as I other find myself learning something/developing my own opinions, or just having a good laugh. I would listen to Kinda Funny, but every other sentence coming from them these days includes some form of profanity (I have a little brother, so I can’t really be playing that around the house). I’ve personally found IGN’s podcasts have become rather soulless over the past few years: no-one is willing to voice an unpopular opinion, they’re not that funny, and a lot of them can come across as uninformed or obnoxious.
  4. Football Season 2017-18

Questions really need to be asked of United this summer, I think. Crashed out of the Champions League in the silliest of ways, and they’ve been woefully inconsistent throughout much of the league season.
  5. Football Season 2017-18

WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON AT OLD TRAFFORD?! A couple of minutes left to stop City from winning the title today.
  6. Playstation 5 rumours have started

Interesting video by DigitalFoundry on the matter. Only downside is the constant teasing that they know something not mentioned in the purported leaks.
  7. Shenmue 1&2 HD (PC/PS4/Xbox One)

The collection has been confirmed to cost $29.99 USD (so it will likely have an RRP of £25 over here in the UK). It has also been revealed that the game is being worked on by SEGA in some form of partnership with d3t; the games will feature achievements across all platforms. This was revealed by Adam Koralik, who was invited to Japan for FES by SEGA, and had the opportunity to play the remaster.
  8. E3 2018

The second half of the year is still relatively quiet for now, so I’m stoked for E3: it seems like we’re going to be spoiled with riches this time around I think an Onimusha remake/remaster/sequel (?) would be well timed by Capcom now, what with Nioh garnering some attention last year and Ghost of Tsushima garnering a lot of attention during Paris Games Week. But that does sound like licensing hell material... Elsewhere, Jason Schreier of Kotaku has revealed that a new BioShock game is in the works at 2K. Probably unlikely to appear at this year’s E3, but you never know.
  9. Shenmue 1&2 HD (PC/PS4/Xbox One)

The official Shenmue I & II website is now up. It’s pretty empty for now. The Steam page is also up, but does not yet state the price of the game. I wouldn’t find that too surprising, considering that Shadow of the Colossus was also a $30 release over there, if memory serves correctly. At $15/£15 a pop each (at RRP, at least), I’d have to assume that this would somewhat aggressively lower the valuations online of the original versions of the games?
  10. Football Season 2017-18

    Talking about Kane...
  11. Tell me about it...which IGN podcast was she ruining/helping to ruin this time?
  12. Football Season 2017-18

I think it’s a little different because Kane was claiming it right after it went in. Because of that, if he asks for it he looks stupid, and if he doesn’t he also looks stupid. I think any striker who initially claimed it as a goal on the pitch should stick by it until it’s at least been looked at. Plus, we get amazing things like this because of it: And sure, Ronaldo would be hung out to dry for this; many players would, and Kane has been hung out to dry by fans and other players already. However, like I said before, arguing for a goal like this is within Ronaldo’s established nature as someone who wants to break records. Though, I do think it’s worth mentioning that much of the press held something against Ronaldo after what he did at the World Cup whilst at United, and just continued to paint him in a bad light thereafter. As for Kane moving, you’re right, we’ll have to wait and see; I can’t remember any offers coming in either. Though, I do think that he would want to win the Prem and beat Shearer’s record because of the kind of player that he is, and I don’t see Madrid making a move for him until Ronaldo’s ability begins to dull, because he’s a bit more than your typical 9. Completely unrelated: amazing turnaround by Chelsea, and showed a great attitude in doing so.
  13. Shenmue 1&2 HD (PC/PS4/Xbox One)

While it would have been great to see a remake, I think it’s especially important with games like this that the original version of the game is preserved. I also think that a remake would risk confusing matters, too: a fully funded remake by SEGA of Shenmue I & II would almost certainly overshadow Shenmue III in every way imaginable, not to mention that remakes not spearheaded by Yu Suzuki seems incredibly risky when it comes to a franchise born of his mind. To do it in a Yakuza-style would feel almost wrong to me, because Yakuza is an evolution from Shenmue in many ways. I think it also reflects just where SEGA is now compared to when these games were first given the go-ahead: being on the bleeding edge of technology is no longer their prime focus. Another reason might be that the original game almost certainly never made its money back, and a remaster (as opposed to a ground-up remake) would cost much less to do and there be less of a financial risk for SEGA to commission. It could also serve to drive down prices of the Dreamcast versions of the games (and Xbox for II).
  14. Sega Ages (Summer M2)

I have to wonder if third parties going out of their way to bring us collections like these means that whatever Nintendo’s plans are for Virtual Console on Switch, or whatever form their back catalogue may take, means that they’re not in on it and Nintendo are aiming for a first-party centric(/only) service?
  15. Shenmue 1&2 HD (PC/PS4/Xbox One)

Mentioned this in the other thread, but seeing as this is a pre-E3 announcement, I’d have to guess that we’ll get this in Q3 — I’d guess July or August? Also, obligatory Huber: And awesome box art:
  16. E3 2018

Well, just as Shenmue I & II is announced, I find that Capcom have recently registered some Onimusha trademarks ahead of E3. What Michael Huber wants, Michael Huber gets.
  17. Shenmue 3 (Kickstarter)

Man, I love video games. I think I’m just as excited for this as I am Spider-Man. I never played the original versions of the game, but I’ve been holding out for modern releases of the games since I learned about them, because I love storytelling, travelling and world-building in every media, and from what I’ve seen/heard, Shenmue was one of the first shining examples of how to nail that slice-of-life niche that so many other games (particularly SEGA ones, oddly enough) have since built upon, such as the Persona and Yakuza series. Oh, and I’ve listened to it’s soundtrack a lot, and I can’t think of a poorly written note. It’s great that this is a pre-E3 announcement, because it means SEGA are getting ahead of the curb so that they aren’t shoved under the table during E3 itself. It’s also great because it ever so slightly increases the odds of Shenmue III releasing this year: as this was a pre-E3 announcement, I’d have to assume that Shenmue III will be present at the main event (along with a Shenmue I & II reminder/gameplay trailer?). I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that this will come in Q3, because if Shenmue III really is dropping this year, I’d have to guess that that would be placed in Q4; the former in July/August and the latter in November/December, maybe?
  18. Spider-Man (PS4)

I’m seriously thinking about getting out my PS2 to play through Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro and Spider-Man 2 over the summer. Way too many memories, and I’m really keen to make some more with this game. On a completely different topic, the second of the three pre-order bonus suits has been (unsurprisingly) revealed to be the Iron Spider suit as it will be seen in Avengers: Infinity War.
  19. Spider-Man (PS4)

    The combat looks insanely good...
  20. Football Season 2017-18

I think if anyone should have a right to be annoyed, it would be Eriksen, who I assume honestly doesn’t care too much either way. I have to assume that because I can’t imagine Tottenham wanting to go behind Eriksen’s back just to please Kane over a single goal (and the fact that, as a creative player, Eriksen might enjoy having an assist just as much). If Kane genuinely believes it, because he is a talented and driven striker who keeps pushing himself harder and harder, I can understand why he might take this up with the higher-ups. He’s chasing goal-scoring records and is constantly self-improving, so if he really did touch it, I can understand wanting the goal accredited to him. I kind of have to disagree with this idea that we’d hang Ronaldo out to dry for doing something like this. He still occasionally lashes out and gets frustrated with his teammates when they don’t pass the ball to him, and just the other week (maybe in the first leg against Juve?) he took a shot when the ball was clearly possessed by Benzema. Both Ronaldo and Kane are driven players, though, so I can understand why the might act the way that they do. Because Kane’s so driven, I don’t think he’ll be leaving Tottenham until he either a) wins the Premier League with them, or b) beats Alan Shearer’s all-time goal-scoring Premier League record of 260 goals scored in the competition (which he seems well on his way to beating).
  21. Shenmue 3 (Kickstarter)

Man, quite a few possibilities are coming to mind now that you mention that, actually: • Persona 3 Remake • Project Re Fantasy • Virtua Fighter 6 • Shenmue I&II HD
  22. E3 2018

I’m normally excited and optimistic going into these things, but I’m especially optimistic about this year’s show. I don’t think we’ll get bombshell reveals on the level of Sony’s E3 2015 conference (I honestly don’t know what could be so anticipated as to deliver that level of excitement - maybe Bethesda’s Starfield, if that rumour from last year really was true?), but I do think we’ll be blown away by what we learn/see about games that we already know about, such as Shenmue III and Cyberpunk 2077, and maybe even a look at Pokémon Switch or Metroid Prime 4, just to name a few. Unfortunately for me, though, I probably won’t get to tune in to any of the live shows besides whatever Nintendo does (which probably won’t be live, and assuming that it’s a BST-friendly time like it was last year), because I have five exams that week; I’ll probably have to resort to The Verge’s conference highlight reels or flick YouTube when I wake up during that week.
  23. Shenmue 3 (Kickstarter)

I’m going to go in believing it’s just some Shin Megami Tensei V news - something I’m excited for, but wouldn’t find anywhere near as exciting as Shenmue 1+2 HD... Really weird that they’ve only just tweeted this out, though. They were teasing this last week; that tweet’s been drafted for a while.
  24. General Switch Discussion

For sure, as I agreed with - and said - above. I think it being announced so soon, like I said above, just goes to show how keen Nintendo are.
