Also, it's me, so I've got to mention a track, and the obvious option from what I've heard so far is Tal Tal Heights:

For me this is one of the tracks I hate the most, I'm not sure if it's because it stands out too much... because they're isn't really any increase in urgency? I aint getting mountain climbing vibes... It's hard to explain.

Face Shrine = love it, I wish I could do it justice on teh sax

  2. I fully endorse going to the cinema alone, I don't get why people make it such a taboo subject, you sit in the dark and not talk for a couple of hours. Then you go home. It's not the social heavy event it's made out to be.

I've confronted the travelling alone aspect last year for Oktoberfest, for exactly the reasons you've mentioned Ashley. I'm planning on going again this year, some friends have expressed interest in coming this year, but I'm going to book my dates and it's up to them if they want to tag along. I'm not altering my plans to accommodate them.

Going out to eat though, I'm just too lazy to do that, lounge in the casual wear and order a pizza or something.

If I was a faithful I'd have wanted him out from the word go because he only muddied the waters, ultimately teeing it up for the traitors to slip through the roundtables. And getting trapped with the loot on that mission!! Self-absorbed dimwit.

What're you saying we've been elusive? ;) Been avoiding this thread until I could wrap it up, which I did this evening then watched the finale of Uncloaked (but none of the previous) and a pair of interviews on Radio 2.

Last few episodes was a bit like watching dominoes fall despite some jeopardy right at the end.

UK Season 2 (Reveal hidden contents)

I was on for Harry less in the back half because he got a bit too big for his boots, imo. Would have liked an Andrew or Jaz win by the end truth be told. At the sword in the stone bit I hoped Andy was gonna get the option on the 7k and take it because Harry was always gonna sacrifice him on the last day.

Blondie didn't deserve to be in with a sniff of the money because she didn't seem to offer anything throughout, least of all at the roundtable discussions. Absolute numpty.

Was shaking my head when Andrew "went for it" with his reasons for forcing another vote at the end. Needed a modicum of subtlety to have any chance.

Overall happy enough with the result—even if I wasn't a fan of Harry buying into his own hype, he played the game well.

Infuriating watching them deduce like dummies but that's what makes it a fun watch.

Got your sob story drafted for your season 3 application?

When knowing the answer was wrong and he blunders in, you'd have thought it was common sense to not take the money with you... but nope, up he went. I'm surprised he didn't try climbing to the top of the net, but I've never been caught in a Predator-style trap because I'm too cool for that shit.

That elusive thing certainly exploded, I can't believe how heated everyone got!

I've put in my application that I specifically do not have a sob story for them, but I would pay my mum's mortgage if she has any. I'm going to have a haircut after work tonight and then record my video

I have two episodes left...I think...

I wanted Zack to go so badly. He was quite annoying in the end. Jumping down people's throats and interrupting them all of the time. Andrew was also equally annoying. Learn to play the game, fool. I literally didn't like Paul at all. I just found him to be smarmy. Harry is the only likeable person who respects the game and plays it well and I hope he wins it all. He plays it for survival and I can respect that because I wouldn't have trusted the others either. At the moment, it's just him and Andrew.

The Faithfuls are so easily swayed that it's scary.

Also, am I the only one who thought it was obvious that Diane and Ross were related? They literally look like each other. First thing I said when they spoke was that they could be related 🤣

I didn't get much of the Paul hate, I think people are hating on a fellow ginge. He was a lil cocky, but I think it's because we all knew he was lying.

I confess I didn't see the relation. I was half expecting another couple, after the near-cucking great TV the last season gave. Even knowing they're related I can't see it myself, maybe if Ross didn't have the beard or glasses my mind could focus.

    Now watch Aussie!

  4. Finished the Aussie one over the weekend... wow

    Spoiler

What a stupid bitch... This is more embarrassing than someone saying they're a psychic, having someone who psychoanalyses people unable to hold an opinion for more than it takes you to finish this sentence. It felt acceptable for a once, maybe twice occasion, but before every Round table "I'm gunning for Sam, there's too much evidence", come Banishment, someone says one thing which could make someone else look dodgy = instant vote switch.

Not that the others were much better, but those that were switched on were voted off by the sheep

    Spoiler

    Meant to say Sam...

He was like the the Aussie Andrew, but for some reason was managed to stay on longer despite being as charming as a tumour with a personality to match, compared to Andrew, who whilst being smug, did manage to be best friends with all there.

    Spoiler

We've never had more than 1 traitor make it to the end, so this Golden Balls style Split-Or-Steal thing was new. If they'd voted Sam out at the end I think Blake and Camile would've shared. But they both knew Sam was gonna try and take it all for himself. Until the last minute I thought Camile was going to share, but she dropped the Andross "If I' go down I'm taking you with me", leaving Sam with a Dara O'Brian style "h'wait, h'what" and a salty "but it was miiiiiine". I'm sad we didn't see actual tears.

I didn't mind the US one. At least there was a bit of personality there.

Too much for my tastes, half of them being "celebrities" all trying to hog the show as if they've got a new single coming out. I was worried when the Australian one put a couple in their second season, but I think having less is more ad they're much more chill. Plus the missions in the US were just copies of the UK, or shittier versions - such as the escape room one which they failed, being set at the same place forcing some of this, but a bit of originality wouldn't be too much to ask. Intrigued to see how much of season 2 the US second season takes on.

So I'm late to the party and I haven't read a thing as I've only started watching it. The US one has kind of taken over for me and the new Australian one is a bit meh. I'm hoping our one gets better because they're bland and too friendly at the moment and it's very petty. Like "I think you're a traitor because you breathe oxygen and that's a red flag"...come on! Although it needs to be said that the editing in the show is a bit weird. Like I'm on episode 3 and someone is getting voted off and before they reveal who they are, they end the episode on the cliffhanger...why? We know their alliances, we know they're getting booted off...what's the cliffhanger for?

The 2nd US season? Because the first one sucked balls.

The 2nd Australian season isn't too bad, about 5 episodes in. The team dynamic is interesting.

Hard to think of anything beyond Majora's Mask that didn't follow that template.

Pokémon Stadium off the top of my head, I'mma gonna check my collection when I get home... I'm sure I have more!

Are we talking about all the way around black border, or where they have just one bar on the right?

Star Fox 64 (or Lylat Wars as I knew it as a kid) is a fast-paced on-rails shooter made by Nintendo. The gameplay is extremely solid. Fox’s Awring has lasers that you can charge up for a lock-on, along with limited bombs. Movement is fast and precise and you can perform loops and barrel rolls – the latter reflects bullets.

And it's how you should know it as an adult too, you goddamm heathen.

  9. Finished The Sword of Kaigen: A Theonite War Story by M.L Wang - it has ancient Japan (but with some modern technology), but if like Avatar elemental bending stuff, you'd like this.

This was following a recommendation from someone who was (and this isn't an exaggeration) frothing over this book. She said she cried at a portion where someone miscarrying was mentioned, and re-read a chapter twice because it was sooo good. Immediately after finishing it she started reading it again.

It was a good book, nowhere near the load-blowing read she was making it out to be. The miscarriage bit was probably 2 pages max and wasn't really emotional at all (it wasn't "happening" at the time, just being said as a backstory for the character, which is briefly mentioned later on but isn't really important, but maybe this was personal to her, I ain't prying) and the re-reading chapter, was an alright chapter, but I think there were much more dynamic chapters which you could choose to re-read should you choose to do so.

Might be worth another read in the future, but several years until then.

It looks like it could've been the start of some sort of world series, as there is some definite potential for conspiracy thereafter, but the author has given up for the time being: Difficult News: Discontinuing the Theonite Series – M. L. Wang Books (mlwangbooks.com)

I get the feeling when reading this that her mouth starting writing cheques her anus couldn't cash. Fingers crossed for the future though.

  10. Well Ross' Taken reboot didn't last long. I think he tried stirring too soon and I'm not sure what happened at the end of the Round Table, Harry mentions one thing (couldn't grasp it in his quick accent) and suddenly it's how Andrew wouldn't use a certain word.

It's made Zack's ego go way up, as "he's always known!", but gets proven right on the one day he's actually correct.

I think people are slowly starting to wise up to Harry though, I think once they consider that Ross wouldn't really murder his mum, things may start falling into place.

There's not even a goal. Just a skill tree to fill out. You just do whatever.

    That's early access for you.

Reminds me of No Man's Sky, which may have had a bit more originality in their creature creation...

So the curiosity just got too much for me to handle and I resubscribed to Game Pass to check this out. :D Well, and Season 11 of Sea of Thieves has just arrived too. ;)

Initial impressions were absolutely atrocious, the game wouldn't even start at first! I was stuck in this weird "cannot connect error" loop.  After trying several times I just gave up and played Sea of Thieves.
After a while I tried again, this time I managed to get to the title screen and into a game, but I was greeted by a pretty badly optimised experience and some graphics settings that didn't function at all (DLSS greyed out :hmm:) even so, I was able to tweak other settings to get it running all right on my PC.

Heads up for anyone that may be considering the game on PC via Game Pass though, it turns out the Game Pass build is less refined than the Steam version.

Anyway, Palworld starts out super slow and boring (like every other one of these survival type games that I've briefly played before ) but once I'd harvested enough materials to build better tools and unlock more facilities it became a bit more streamlined and things got slightly more interesting. There doesn't seem to be all that much restriction regarding how you can build your base either, which is pretty cool but I've not had the chance to fully mess around with that aspect yet.

As everyone and their dog is already well aware, this game draws a lot of inspiration takes a lot of content from Pokémon :heh: but I actually find myself recognising so many elements from other games as well. Zelda (Breath of the Wild specifically), Fortnite, Animal Crossing, Xenoblade, even Dark Souls... oh- and Goat Simulator, although I don't think they meant to copy that one. It's as if the developers are going for a Guinness World Record on how many plagiarised assets and stolen ideas can be crammed into a single game!

It's too soon to properly evaluate, but Palworld appears to be a very unusual experience indeed. What I've seen so far is a glitchy and bizarre mixture of loads of other games (not just Pokémon!) that isn't particularly good, but at the same time there does seem to be something about it, and considering the gameplay mostly involves holding a button down to perform menial tasks and watching timers countdown, it is strangely addictive. :blank:

I shall continue to investigate... :hehe:

So what exactly is the endgame? Is there a plot?

It's interesting because what we see as a rip off might actually be sufficiently different to pass. I'm reminded of whenever I go into ALDI, there's tonnes of stuff that is very blatantly meant to look like known brand products, yet clearly they've made products differently enough to avoid legal issues. I'm thinking things like this:

I tested Aldi's knock off versions of big brands - here's the seven surprising times they win | The Sun

I wanted to find the moron in a hurry clip from QI, but I couldn't find it :(

Ross hinting at the end that he wants revenge could spice up the finale!

I'm waiting so much for that mum reveal, I'm trying not to big myself up about it lest he just does a minor "Oh she was my mum" on his way out. I comically thought that when he became a traitor he'd rip off his hood and just start strangling Harry going "You killed my mooommm", but didn't happen.

It's fair he asked why they killed her (plucking a random name out of the air of course), and the reason being given was that she was becoming a problem/strong player, I forget the exact wording, but it was the perfect justification for killing a player which is repeated throughout - cut to Ross looking butthurt... Now, if went like this:

Ross - why did you kill... Diane?

Harry - she was just an annoying bitch

Then I'd understand a bit better.
