  1. Capcom vs Konami

After reading the topic title I'm disappointed. I thought this might be about an announcement of a new game in the versus series I didn't know about.. Now that would've been cool! This discussion could be settles once & for all! (or perhaps not..) Seriously though, imagine the possibilities.. It's not hard to imagine the Capcom side, but I don't think Konami has much experience with fighters? Solid Snake is a given though, with his appearance in SSBB. On topic though.. I think I favour Capcom, I own more Capcom games than Konami games. In fact, last game I bought was Phoenix Wright 2.
  2. Games you own more than one copy of...

Just Golden Sun. The Japanse version, closely after its release, because I wanted a seemingly good RPG to accompany my new imported GBA (which at that time had just been released here). Good example of my instinct being spot on . But it took me years to finally buy an English copy, after the game had already disappeared from shops.. Well, and the original Metroid. Both emulated on the Metroid games they came on, I forgot which they were though.. Prime 1 and Zero Mission?
  3. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Ah yes, I forgot, but I wouldn't know where to start that one.. I've read the walkthrough, and it just makes my head hurt . I have some patience when it comes to bomb-jumping, but to buffer so many spinesharks? Like I said, it makes my head hurt . I didn't think you made a real advancement though? Didn't you have to go back and still get the, ehh, cce missiles I believe?
  4. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

People here haven't played Metroid Zero Mission, the improper way :P. I'm not that hardcore that I want to get through a game a second playthrough using the most challenging sequence breaks, but I did enjoy fooling aroung with it in Zero Mission (like facing Ridley with I believe just 1,5 energy tank, and 3 supermissiles, and without a variasuit . The hardest hting I've ever done in a Metroid game..). For those who don't know, the developpers decided to tweak the levels for certain sequence breaks (perhaps after discovering it was still a popular thing among Metroid fans in Fusion, which didn't have any intentional sequence breaks?). If you ever questioned the reason why certain blocks are where they are in this game, it's for a sequence break (or speedrun optimalization). It's really fun to discover these things.. I'm not using glitches to sequence break, but it would be fun if they designed the levels im MP3 with this in mind. Allthough I imagine this would be a lot harder to do in 3D.
  5. Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

    I'm sorry, what?
  6. Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

This is why I'm glad I own a Wii . This is fantastic news, especially after the disappointment that Golden Sun sequel turned out to be.. A new Golden Sun for DS would get me more excited than Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 combined.. While this new Tales games can't accomplish that same thing, it's immediately one of the games I'm most looking forward too (together with Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 obviously ). Allthough I'll miss having Sheena (and Raine) on my screen at al times (), I'd like to play with an all new cast. I also liked the TOS 1 cell shaded look however.. But we'll see how TOS will look when it's finished. Seeing this news made me remember to pre-order TOS OVA part 2 by the way . I hope this does good things for the RPG genre on Wii in general.. This is the first major RPG isn't it? I hope many will follow, Baten kaitos perhaps?
  7. Games I still wanna buy (& then play obviously): - Complete the Capcom 5, so that's P.N.03; - Viewtiful Joe 1 (got the second one recently for € 10,- sealed; - Killer 7 (Looking forward to No more Heroes too. I have RE 4, and I'm looking forward to the last of the Capcom 5 sometime in the future on the Wii :P); - Pikmin 2; - Super Mario Sunshine (Can't believe this will actually be one of the last games I'll get..); - Xtreme-G III (I was a fan of the first one on the 64.. I got X-Gra, but I think this one may be better..); - Beyond Good & Evil (doesn't need explanation I think, of the games I've missed on the cube, this may be the best..) - Soul Calibur 2 (I need more fighters.. And, well, Link..). - Edit: Ooh! Forgot Baten kaitos 2! <sigh> Stupid NOE. I'm not going to mod my Cube, so I might import a US Cube, allthough importing an US Wii is more likely. Maybes: - Odama (looks like a fun experiment, and I can add the microphone to my collection); - Zelda 4 swords (is very fun, buy only when doing multi-player with actual Zelda fans, which may be a problem for me..Next installment on the Wii online please); - Wario Ware inc (is fun, but again, only multi-player.. But with less restrictions than Zelda though). - Maybe rebuy the few games I got unsealed, I forgot which they were though.. Metal Gear Solid for sure, and one of my first games.. I think Rogue Squadron & Capcom vs SNK (Oh god, good luck with those 2). -Another RE. Perhaps 2, I hear that's supposed to be the best of the Classic Cube ports, and one of the scariest.. That's all I can think of right now. Edit: Well, for Cube at least.. For the GBC I want Shantae (<ouch>), for GBA Drill Dozer, maybe those Japanese touch generation games, and for the DS, Ouendan 1 & 2, both Castlevania's, both Kirbys, oh well, the DS isn't the problem.
  8. Tales of Symphonia Official Thread

Hmm. All this spoiler talk makes me want to play this game again (before my package from Yesasia arrives :P, I was worried for a moment, when when my order wasn't shipped yet on release date, but it has now). And I just got my Wii for about a week! Geez, so little money for new games I want to buy, but I already have games I didn't finish yet or haven't even started yet. I wish I didn't like sleep so much, or I would skip that to play more games .
  9. Tales of Symphonia Official Thread

My order from Yesasia hasn't shipped yet, I expect it to ship on monday then. The other items are already ready for shipment, so it's only TOS that's holding up my order . Can't wait!
  10. Tales of Symphonia Official Thread

Well, you have to actually order it, to get it, fortunately I was already aware of this, so I chose a Pangya Golf gashapon.. In fact, after my order, I saw a Japanese movie which I also liked (Strawberry Shortcakes by the way), and it even had English subs (for a change). So I ordered that one, and another movie, so I'm getting 2 Pangya gashapon .

Thanks for the reply, but the thing is, there are 2 different limited editions, and I was wondering if anyone knew the difference between them besides the boxart. They contain more extras than the regular edition, I can tell for sure. If I'm getting anything, it will be the LE, but the question is which one . 2 links to make clear which editions I'm talking about: - [Collector's edition] - ["Exphere" edition] Edit: Never mind . I'm just going to assume they're practically the same. I've ordered the collector's ed., I like the art better, even though Collette is far from my favourite character (actually, my least favourite to be exact). I should get the first pressing even. I've ordered a bunch of other stuff to go with it, while I was at it (all from Yesasia by the way), including, finally, Rhythm Tengoku.
  12. Tales of Symphonia Official Thread

About the DVD's, which version is the best? I think I've seen 3 versions, 1 regular, and 2 limited editions. But I couldn't tell any difference between those 2, except for the boxart. Or is that indeed the only difference? I think I wanna order this, I loved the game, and I love anime, and I don't expect this to ever get a release over here with English subs, so I think I'm going to import this. But I'd have to know which version to get .
  13. Skies of Arcadia Official Thread

What kept me? Ha.. Zelda TP.. Some Fire Emblem (also still not finished), some Magical Vacation (also not finished).. And some other still. Damn, I always intended to play 1 game at a time, but I always used to have 1 new game at a time . Now I'm trying to catch up on Cube games (and DS games to some extent), so I have plenty stuff to do.. I think I'll make finishing Fire Emblem my priority, then Magical Vacation, so I can properly start Resident Evil 4 en Final Fantasy 3. Oh and finish Phoenix Wright 1! But I got stuck at that one.. Anyway, I don't know what is considered a high level in this game. I normally like to grind, but I was glad I could finally avoid the random encounters while sailing in the end (by sailing in upper or deep sky). My Vyse was level 53 or 52, Aika & Fina were 52 or 51 I think, Drachma, which I had at the moment of the final battle, was level 40. I forgot what level Enrique and Gilder were, obviously something in between. It was enough to make the final battles a breeze (also, for the ship battle, I had a stock of around 70 complete kits..). I kept dragging it out though, I didn't simply want to beat him, but I wanted to completely obliterate him, but he was too anoying for that (constantly eliminating my positive status changes). It's the bounties in the game, that are hard though. After finishing tthe game, I checked out the Ice lands, and encountered ehh.. That guy with his lucky cat. He completely wasted me, I was trying my usual routine (first turn Fina's eternal blessing, then all next turns Aika's delta shield and Vyse's skull shield, the others will raise spirit, untill I can cast blue rogues). But his 2 sidekicks proved too much om my first (and only for now) try. Oh and, my playtime is around 60 hours at the moment, dunno the exact number.
  14. Skies of Arcadia Official Thread

Finally finished the main quest yesterday, or the day before. But there's still plenty of stuff to do. Jeez, that last set of battles, allthought not really hard, calls for some endurance.. But epic it was. Actually, that fight with lord Zyvilin (?) Bane, just before the big battle, was quite a bit harder. I was totally unprepared too, there wasn't a savespot in the near vicinity, and I didn't know I was going to encounter him.. Good thing I defeated him first time around then I guess, but it may have been the hardest battle for me up to that point (I was at a point, where only Drachma was alive, with very little HP, I really don't know how and why I still recovered ). Anyway, still plenty stuff to do, but there are some other games waiting to be finished (or even getting started on), so I think Piastol has to wait for a while (allthough I wish I could get her and Belleza in my party instead of Fina and Aika :P). I guess now I can go to the beginning of this thread though, and read all the spoilers..
  15. Metal gear solid:Twin snakes

I took the opportunity to order this game from Play. So I guess that's another game I can scratch off my list of Nintendo games I need to catch up on, along with Pikmin 1 and Phoenix Wright 1. It will be a while before I can play those games though, There are still several other games that need to be played..
  16. Mario Kart:double dash

Maybe "exact opposite" is slightly exaggerated, but they don't behave quite the same as previous versions. Not being able to "hold" a banana, single shield, or fake box is a loss, it is a much used tactic. Personally I was quite fond af the tripple shield shells too. And I hope I remember this correctly, I've played this game only 3 times, but the blue shield doesn't follow the road anymore (only hitting the player in first position). Same goes for the red shells, they also don't follow the road anymore if you are the in first position (potentially hitting players behind you, or even yourself..). And there was something else about the red shells, but I can't remember exactly. Also I don't like the boosts.. The seem out of place in Mario Kart to me. And maybe it's just me then, but powersliding (after a jump..) throught corners in MK 64 feels more natural to me, and much easier, while in MK DD, I can hardly keep my cart on the track.
  17. Mario Kart:double dash

I really hate this game. People find me strange for this reason, but after reading this thread I'm obviously not the only one (allthough I may take my hate for MK DD to a new level). If it didn't come with the Cube, I wouldn't own this game. After reading reviews, I already thought it was pretty bad, then I get the game for free, and it still manages to disappoint me. Everything's wrong, the tracks (that baby mario & luigi track or whatever, is the most stupid track I've ever seen), the power-ups (they do the exact opposite of what you'd expect from previous versions), and probably most important, the controls suck. They absolutely don't feel as tight as MK 64. Powerslides feel slippery (?), and I miss jumping.. Oh and the multiplayer battle arenas suck too. I think I mentioned everything. My copy will never see the inside of my Cube again. I should've bought that Resident Evil package instead. I still have to play the DS version though, it seems to be pretty good, and I probably will still buy it someday.
  18. My collection is still growing . There's still some "rare" games I'd like to hunt down (and will succeed :P, sealed though). Beyond good & evil ìs one example, and I like to get Killer 7 as well. In my collection now are Skies of Arcadia & Ikaruga, I got them both through those Amazon shops. A new title I'd like to mention, which I reckon is pretty rare, is Capcom vs SNK. I must say though, it's much harder to get even the most common titles through conventional means (aka "store") nowadays. Most shops seem to have cleared their inventory of all old titles, and only sell recent titles (the few that are left). Several months ago, I could see plenty player's choice titles like Mario Sunshine (which I also still have to get) and Pikmin, but I don't see them anywhere anymore in stores. At least here in the area (=Rotterdam, Netherlands).
  19. There aren't actually that many games I've completed 100 %, and many games I used FAQs even for a little bit (well, not in the N64 days, I got tips from friends then..). So I guess there's only one game I can really mention, it's Starfox 64. Faqs are useless, it's pure skill, but I did feel like I achieved something when getting all the medals on hard. I don't see me completing Assault with all gold medals (allthough, I don't think I'd really want to).
  20. Tales of Symphonia Official Thread

Maybe it's a simple case of manual vs semi-manual . I bought this game along with Paper Mario and Baten Kaitos (I was in desperate need of a RPG fix), and played through all 3 games for a little bit, before "really" starting with Baten Kaitos, which seemed the most interesting of the 3 at the time. Any way, while play testing Tales I was also very disappointed with the controls, but I didn't know the inferior semi-manual control set-up was the default option. It's the reason I can't really get into Tales of Phantasia.. They really should've implemented manual controls there too.
  21. I finally got this game and Resident Evil 4, a week ago, both sealed. Both are my first games in their respective series, so now my Cube collection is a bit more complete. Anyway, I'm loving this game! (in fact, more than Resident Evil) Allthough I must admit to having used GameFaqs for the current chapter. Chapter 13 or something, the first one where you actually encounter the Black Knight. There's so much going on on that map. I was going about my business, but then the Black Knight appears, those wyvern riders get active, and one of those vigilantes has my attention. So I checked the guide to find out what to do with those 2 characters (how to recruit them if possible) and now I know. It's my first tactical RPG by the way, and like I said, I'm loving it, allthough their are some disadvantages compared to regular RPG's. I like to grind (well, at least level up considerately), but this game doesn't let you do that.. I really have to choose what characters to use and who will get the exp.. I'm also wondering, if it's possible to let everyone just die, and play through the game with just Ike.. I'm guessing not, but if you can, what a weird (and probably very hard) playthrough would that be..
  22. Zelda: Twilight Princess

Does anyone know if there's Zelda TP merchandise available? I can't find anything on Yesasia or HLJ. I really want a TP artbook (to drewl all over the hot TP chicks ), and I want a soundtrack, so I can just put the Malo Mart Hurule shop theme on a loop . Than imagine the cool figurines! /me wants.. But maybe someone here knows more about this than I do?
  23. Zelda: Twilight Princess

Tears in my eyes! I've been waiting for this longer than I actually own a GameCube I think . And damn, this game is big.. It took me over 30 hours before I visited every main area I think.. I'm almost at 40 hours in the game, and I just finished the ehh snowpeak ruins temple (what's it called?). I can't believe the stuff the put in.. It borrows mostly from OoT of course, but I've seen elements from most Zelda games.. It's also so cool to see which enemies they've put in, and discover their new updated "realistic" look.. I believe they're called helmasaurs, I couldn't believe they managed to sneak those in with this artstyle! Simply.. Amazed. Thanks Nintendo!!
  24. Zelda: Twilight Princess

Why? The Cube version is definitely only for GameCube .
  25. Zelda: Twilight Princess

Yep, I've pre-ordered this game as well. It's a bit frustrating though, somebody just put to my attention the Wii's being released this friday, and while all Wii players will be able to play Zelda form that day, I (/we) have to wait another week.. Well, at least we're playing the real version :P. (note: I'm not saying the Wii version won't be fun, I'm buying that one too when I buy a Wii eventually) Hmm, allthough.. I wonder if I can contain myself. I could get impulsive and say "fuck it, I don't need new pants, I'm gonna buy a Wii instead". Still, I'll play the Cube version of Zelda first either way. Argh, 2 more weeks! Anyway, to me Zelda is now part of my Christmas feeling.. A Christmas isn't truly complete without a new Zelda ..
