  1. Wii Ethernet kit coming...

It was confirmed that you can use the Wi-fi adapter right? However, I think I'll still buy one of these. I dunno if cables are faster, but I'm sure they're more reliable. And it's more convenient for me. There's an old general computer here, and my brother has a new computer. To get my DS online, I have to bother him with the wi-fi adapter on his computer. I'm not going to play in his room, so there will always be walls in the way. Usually not much of a problem, but I get the occasional lag. Getting a cable from my room to the router is much easier, I don't have to bother anyone, and I can play online at night. So I'll definately pick one up. I'm not bothering with a wireless network just yet, it'll have to wait untill I have a new computer. Since I don't have any money, and am not satisfied with a computer and software that doesn't cost thousands and thousand of Euros, this won't be for quite a while. This adapter is pefect in the mean time.
  2. CD-I

I never had one myself, but I had a friend who had one. My experience with it is limited though. I've played some Hotel Mario and Space Ace (that's the interactive sci-fi cartoon right?). I don't really think of it as a console.. Sure, games were a big part of it, but can't remember it being really marketed as a console at the time. In retro-spective I can conclude I didn't really miss out on anything (I really wanted one back then), I guess it has some collectors value now though.
  3. Low key Nintendo of Japan press conference

Ah ok, that makes sense. I made an assumption they meant a VC download or something, it was right after the VC games comment after all . I guess that's better. Now I really don't see them releasing it online-only (on VC) in the US, but certainly not the EU, but a limited release where you can only buy it online (or in the case of EU, by calling customers support <sigh>) is definately possible. Well, if I can get one (on disc) either way, I'll be happy..
  4. Low key Nintendo of Japan press conference

I like the Nintendo branded SD card. I like the 5000 point card with the retro controller. I don't get why and how Japan is getting Twilight Princess only online? How the hell will you play it on your GameCube? I guess this is for hardcore Zelda fans and Wii owners who simply prefer the Cube version or want them both. Well, as long we get it on discs over here.
  5. Sunlight Kills Wii?

I must say, it's a bit sloppy, I hope that's fixed for the retail versions.. But either way, I don't foresee any personal problems with it. I'm practically a vampire myself. I'm more active at night than during the day, I like to play games and watch movies with no light at all (even the LCD screen display of my DVD player annoys me) and even during the day, some times I can't be arsed to open up the blinds. Light rarely finds its way into my room .
  6. Zelda: Twilight Princess

Well, I actually think the new controlls will be fun, maybe even better.. But it's a principle thing for me. It was meant as a Cube game, so I want to play it on my Cube. I want to buy and play both versions, and I will be slightly pissed if the cancel the Cube version (allthough admitted, I'll quickly forgive them when I play the Wii version). For the same reason I'm not that enthousiastic about Paper Mario anymore. Which is weird, because it will be the same game (more or less?). But it's just that I still want Cube games, and allthough Paper Mario along Zelda en Baten Kaitos looks great, but when I'm buying Wii games, I'll have other priorities..
  7. Zelda: Twilight Princess

Argh. I'm one of those sad people who won't buy a Wii at launch, because I don't think I'll have the money, but also because I'd like a black console. I was looking forward to playing the Cube (authentic lefty ) version this Christmas.. They're taking this away from us! Grr. But I'm optimistic, I'll look at this way. If they're willing to still release Cube games in February, 3 months after the Wii launch, perhaps there's still a chance we'll get Baten Kaitos II. Anyway, let's wait for the official word first.
  8. Heroes first footage!

Magical Girl Bizarre Jilly? Are those pink t-shirts "bizarre Jilly" merchandise? I want those pink t-shirts!! I downloaded the trailer just now on IGN, after reading some of the posts in this topic.. It looks very cool and stylish! Now I can't wait for it to come out, I'm very curious how it will play. I haven't played Killer 7, but I'd like to get it when I have the money.
  9. Nintendo Collectables!

Hmm, the Varia suit looks very cool. Gravity suit too, it would be a very cool collector's item, but when it comesw down to aestethics, I'd prefer the Varia suit . Too bad I don't have the money. And yes, of course we want a zero suit Samus! Unless it looks as crap as Feirce Deity Link, but I can't imagine that, with Samus being all tight and curvy .
  10. March? What will Wii do?

Personally I'm hoping for a new bundle that contains the same stuff as the current bundle, only with either Metroid Prime 3 or Super Mario Galaxy in stead of Wii Sports. And a black console obviously . I also hope they include either a wiimote/retro controller combo or just the retro controller with Super Smash Brothers. I hope it will be like a mini re-launch, as I'm waiting for (and really looking forward to) the black console.
  11. Wii Region Free?

Language and video system. But this is also the case with the Cube and Wii discs.. The thing is, in concrete form, US imports for example, could hurt European sales. Games were released later in US and EU, to localize them. This would take time and money, manuals also had to be translated etc. Now, in digital form, it just a small effort to make multiple versions availale (all the translations and localization already has been done), and indeed that's what they'll do, so why just not make them available to every region? What good will it do to not make Japan only releases available to the US and EU? They can make even more money because there are plenty people who will want to play Japanese versions, even if they don't understand Japanese.
  12. Wii Region Free?

I'd like to add to my other post, that, allthough I don't mind much if it wasn't region free, I do think VC and online content should be region free. I think it's ridiculous to have specific VC games for each region.. If it means I won't get to play Sin & Punishment (for example), I might just as well not bother with VC at all, which will mean I won't but any retro controllers. That would be a bad decision.
  13. Official Giest Thread

Like I've said in [this topic], I've just "ordered" this from the (Dutch) stars catalogue. I'm not really looking forward to the FPS bits, but I can't wait to play this game for the adventure/puzzle bits. Anyway, it's free, so it can't be that disappointing . I would like to know though, is this game a bit flexible in the way you play? For example, can you simply possess your way through FPS bits? In other words, don't do any of the shooting yourself, but let the AI do it for you, and then just possess your next victim? Or is it not the way this game works? Anyway, I think the GameCube controller in itself is flawed for FPS games, but this will be my first more or less "real" FPS experience on the cube, so I'll find out for myself.
  14. So who is actually getting a Wii?

I'd like to add to my above post, now with the launch details known.. That I'm strongly considering waiting fot a black console. But, assuming I can hold out for the black console, I still wouldn't want to simply ignore the launchday, so maybe I'll buy a "launch-celebration-but holding-out-for-black" set . Some lauchgames (Zelda, Red Steel), wiimote/nunchuck/retro combo, and an SD card (from Nintendo?). I did something similar with the DS Lite, I bought Metroid Prime and Animal Crossing and the Wi-Fi adapter, but the black DS wasn't available.. But then the wait was just a few days .
  15. Wii Region Free?

Personally I think someone from NOA has more credibility than someone from NOE.. But still, I'd like this cleared up. Allthough, to be honest, I wouldn't be very upset if it wasn't region-free, you'd think we're all used to it by now :P, and I don't see me importing that many titles. Still, I hope it's still in, bacause ultimately, it has to go. But I can live with another generation of region-encoded games.
  16. Sam & Max Wii?

There was a TV show? Anyway, yeah, the Wii seems perfect for point & click adventures . Sam & Max look like they'd fit in with the Wii style.. I'd love to play and own the original, but this would be great too.
  17. Stars Catalogue

I rarely check the (Dutch) Stars catalogue, so it's been a while I saw actual items (no, not the Conan bit). The last time I saw the Zelda bonus disc. I don't know why I didn't get that one, unless I didn't have enough stars, because I'd like to play Masterquest (allthough, with the Cube controller.. Maybe that was the reason.).. Anyway, in the Dutch catalogue at least they had Megaman Battle Network 5, Geist, and Polarium Advance to offer. I see they're going fast, so I "ordered" Geist. I know the FPS action disappoints, but I'm still interested in the adventure/puzzle bit. Funny timing, with all the Wii news, you'd think this would easily slip under the radar, but then again, like I said, they are going pretty fast..
  18. So who is actually getting a Wii?

[On-Topic] .. I'm not sure. It depends on 2 things. Me having money by (hopefully) end November - begin December, and a black console available at launch here. I don't have a job at the moment, I hope I have one next week, I reckon the money won't be a problem by that time.. But I do really like a black console. I have a feeling they won't be available in Europe, just like in the US. Not that I don't like white, but I usually buy black or metallic hardware (and accesories). But on the other hand, I do like to support Nintendo right from the beginning, and being impulsive, I might just go with a white console if that's the only one available. But waiting for a black console allows me to save up more money, and I still have plenty of catching up to do with my GameCube, GBA en DS. Plus, the game I was most looking forward too, Metroid, has been delayed unfortunately. If I buy one at launch Zelda en Red Steel are must buys, and a extra wiimote/nunchuck combo (buying 3 extra is a bit expensive in 1 go..) and maybe 1 or 2 retro attachments. But there are plenty other games that interest me, but I don't know how much money I will have.
  19. UK Launch Date

I don't want to deal with rumours much, but I've heard from someone who owns a shop, that his distributor told him (..) December the 9th. I dunno how reliable this is. And he has his shop in Belgium, I don't know if that's a factor.. Maybe there will be slight variations in the release date across Europe.
  20. Hmm, I don't think they would announce a releasedate for Europe that's too far from the US and Japan dates.. I'm hoping for a date in between. I think we'll get the exact same set as the US, only for the price of € 250,- (they always do that :P). I'm a bit disappointed about Metroid, and the white-only console, but you never know, maybe they'll announce a black version just for Europe, just like the DS lite :P. I hope I have the money by then, but maybe I'll hold out for a black version, gives me more time to save money . Lots of cool little things though, even when I'll not be using them (much). Photo and video playback? Even music playback? And a mix of Pictochat and Animal Crossings communication functions, through WiiConnect24? Looks very cool. And the Flash plug-in for Opera.. News and Weather channels.. Very cool. I like how they suddenly announce you can communicate with your cellphone and things like that, something Microsoft also announced with Windows Live.. Maybe not on the same scale, but still, looks like fun.
  21. N64 Game prices

Hmm, with all the currencies (gulden here and then, euros here and now, pounds in the UK etc) I don't know if it's cheaper or more expansive these days.. I do remember realizing Super Mario 64 was cheaper then Super Mario Bros 3 was. ƒ 129,- and ƒ 149,- respectively, if I remember correctly. The last price also being the regular price for a new N64 game. About 3 gulden (guilders) used to convert to 1 pound, so say £ 50,-. I also remember a long time ago, seeing a Batman game for the NES selling for ƒ 180,- (£ 60,-). And I think I bought the N64 at launch for ƒ 499,-. Similar to the story above, it dropped ƒ 100,- not long after.. When a friend bought his . I didn't mind though. Personally I thought my N64 was well worth it.. And Conker's bad fur day was pretty expensive, also ƒ 180,- I think, but then again, it was pretty Rare (haha, whoei!).
  22. Super Paper Mario

I don't like this. I would've liked this to be one of those last hits for the Cube, allthough granted, there are some other titles still too choose from (Zelda, Baten Kaitos, and StarWars Lego looks fun too). I can get this from a marketing viewpoint, but still it doesn't feel logical. You may have a Mario game at lauch, but this isn't a typical Mario game, and (I assume) still won't appeal to the casual gamer. It doesn't use the Wii hardware, being the kind of game it is, it won't get a graphical upgrade or new Wii controls (seriously, I will ignore the game if they do implement Wii controls ). It's weird, but I am less enthousiastic about this game as a Wii game than I was about this game as a Cube game. I'm still hoping it isn't true, I haven't seen an official statement. The only potential advantage I see is the retro controller. I hate the Cube controller, and I'm hoping the retro controller will be better, but I won't know that untill I can experience it for myself. They could use Cube disc in a Wii case. The idiotic public would be ignorant, but the game works fine on a Wii, Cube gamers can play it on a Cube as well, and Nintendo can market it as a Wii game, so the game can get more attention. Everyone would be happy.

  24. Mario 2 was never really mario at all

I did know this, but I can't remember for how long. It's very strange to realize.. How much a game, that's not originally a Mario game, left its mark in the franchise. Picking stuff up, Shyguys, pokeys, bobombs.. Quite a legacy. I didn't like SMB 2 as much as other Mario platforms, but I still like it (the atmosphere is just so different, more.. Well "dreamy"). I'd like to play the original though. But this must have been devastating to all the Doko Doki Panic fans at that time. Their game's legacy has been hi-jacked, what will they do when they want to make a sequel ?
  25. I like Forsaken too. It's one of the few console games that let you actually go in every direction.. Level design was very fun that way. The one thing I hate about this game is though, they screw this gameplay up a little by not having the options to turn off auto level and auto roll (as far as I can remember). It's a little bit disorienting if you want to go up a tunnel above you and turn around, then your ship suddenly changes position.. I can't really remember the worst game I played on the N64. I didn't have many games, 12, with 10 of them ¹st and ²nd party. Well, the worst I can remember is probably South Park (the FPS). From Acclaim, I though it would be something like Turok gameplay with Southpark humor (which I still enjoyed at that time), but the gameplay was very boring and frustrating. I gave up (--> had to return it  ) when I encountered those aliens. I still have nightmares about those turkeys (not really though :P).
