First weekend with the PS5 done. Can't complain about it, did try out Maneater. Put the disk in, the option to upgrade it to the PS5 version popped up. Few button presses, and the PS4 version stopped installing and the PS5 version started downloading. Can't really tell the difference between the 4 and 5 versions outside the better lighting and frame rate. Had 2 crashes whilst playing (2 crashes in 5 hours of play) but I'm putting it down to the game being buggy. It had issues on PS4, I'm guessing the same issues have cropped up here. Frame rate drops a lot as well at times, so there that Think we'll probably get another stability update this coming week or so, and Insomniac are working on the Spider-Man patches. Once that's released, I'll move onto this.

Picked mine up from GAME around lunchtime yesterday. Was chatting with the staff, apparantly the queue from 11pm Wednesday stretched from the store right down the high street. They said they were still selling PS5's until 1:30am, compared to the Xbox Series X/S which they closed the store by half 12. Carrying it home, yep the box was heavy and my arm ached afterwards. First impressions of the machine. Outside of it's huge (because it is, it dwarfs over my works laptop) is it's a good machine. Compared to the noise of the PS4, it's much quieter. Have followed some guidelines online from people who said what to avoid for the time being (wired LAN, external drives and rest mode). However, did use rest mode to install Destiny 2 and Gran Turismo Sport with no issues. I'm fully expecting a few firmware updates in the coming weeks to sort things, so at least i can use the external drive for my PS4 titles. The haptic feedback on the DualSense is unreal, with the same company behind it as the HD rumble on the Switch it's certainly a good thing. Playing Astro Playroom yesterday for a bit, the controller and audio is something else. Got a full weekend ahead of gaming, so there's that.

Browsing twitter, it's not going to help @Julius confidence in Yodel. But some PS5 orders have been reported from Yodel as missing somewhere in transit. And a fair few people messaging GAME asking for their delivery fee refunded as they paid for DPD, but were swapped to Yodel's free delivery.

Add Hermes to that as well. Plans for launch weekend. Probably a combination of Astro and Miles Morales, Miles installing whilst playing Astro of course. Games i plan to install straight away, Destiny 2 is one of them as well as GT Sport. Would have left both on the external SSD, but have heard of some possible issues with using external drives at the moment and i don't want to risk it at present. Once i can, i'll be playing my PS4 games from the drive.

Had a text saying my PS5 is in store for collection tomorrow.

Hopefully that firmware update solves the rest mode, LAN and external drive issues that have been affecting users in the states.

It's weird that we'll get our new games and accessories tomorrow, but it's another week for the console. Sony love to tease.

GAME messaged me, i can pre-pay for my console from today until the store closes on the 18th. Plan to pay tomorrow when i go to collect my copy of Sackboy, then it's a case of going in and picking it up on launch day. Did they email you at all, they did for me but cancelled my console order middle of October. Shopto usually are pretty good, but botching next gen launches isn't good for them.

Aren't Yodel the ones who literally throw parcels over fences? GAME stores re-opened in Wales yesterday, my local one was hounded by people asking about pre-payments for the PS5. At the moment, they're prioritising Xbox orders as that's out this week. From speaking to someone in-store yesterday myself, they should be in a position by either Friday or Monday to start pre-payments for the PS5. Was only down asking if they could hold my Sackboy pre-order and include it in the PS5 bag. ShopTo have started processing my Pulse 3D headset and Miles Morales.

Yeah, people have been talking about it on social media. As soon as you mention it was in a glass box, it goes quiet. Also, you won't be able to add internal SSD memory into the PS5 at launch Makes sense, seeing as there's not a lot out (if anything) that matches PS5 speeds

Yeah, I saw a rumour that Sony might bump the PS5 release up a few days as it's lockdown in the UK. But haven't found a credible source to link it. Apparently stores have stock in of the consoles, someone on a community page mentioned they went in to pay early and they put the PS5 on the counter and put a label on the box.

Both Sackboy and Miles Morales look set to arrive at the flat on the 12th, same as the new PS5 3D Pulse headset. I get the games releasing then, as the PS4 counterparts release that day so they're thinking "why not release both versions". It happened before with the PS4 launch, i had Black Flag and NBA 2K14 at home for a week before the PS4 arrived. Headset is a weird one, however have seen across the pond that the accessories have arrived early for some people too.

People have said that the PS5 UI is game changing, this shows it.

I'll get something internal down the line, this is mostly for anything i want to play BC. My local GAME tweeted out about in-store collections. I know Wales is coming out of lockdown on the 9th, so stores should re-open. They've started making back-up plans as England will be in lockdown over launch week for people to collect orders and pre-pay if they want to.

That's fast. Bought a 1tb SSD and a external drive casing for extra storage on PS5. Was going to use a 1tb HDD, but these SSD speeds are promising and I think I'd rather have faster loading times with BC

Syndicate surprises me, i'd have thought Unity would have been the game that would have errors.

I'm not worried too much about storage at the moment. There's only one or two games i'll keep on the system on the long term, and one of them is Destiny 2. I'll be watching the prices on SSD memory over the next few months/years until it's at a point i think is good value. I've got a 1tb HDD inside my PS4 at the moment, and the old 500gb HDD is used as one of my back-up drives for files. If i need to, i can format this drive (i've got another smaller HDD i can use for my files) to use on PS5 to store my PS4 library on.

What a generation we've had. I know it's been said before, but if Microsoft had revealed Xbox One as a console instead of how it was initially, i'd probably have stayed with Xbox for this generation instead of picking up a PlayStation 4. At the start, people were complaining when games such as The Last of Us and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection came out because they had played them, but for someone like me it was nice to be able to play these games. Favourite game of the Generation it's difficult as there's been so, so many great games over the last 7 years. But for me, it's Day's Gone. Reviews marked it as an average game, but i thought it was brilliant. Decent enough story, and it has Walking Dead vibes to it with exploring a post-apocalyptic world filled with Freakers and many deadly traps. It's a good 60+ hour game, so you get value for your money here. You do need to maintain your motorcycle, otherwise you might get caught short per say and have an entire Horde coming after you. First time i had one of these coming, it caught me by surprise. You do need to use a strategy, more so with the larger ones (200+ Freakers) later in-game. Action/Adventure The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild This is the result of if you take the classic Zelda formula and throw it out of the window. A game where you can go where you want from the word go, do as little or as much as you want to do before the credits roll. Just wish the weapons didn't break, or at least the Master Sword, Hylian Shield and a Bow you can get. Tomb Raider Trilogy I'm putting these down as one entry, because they were pretty good games. It's a set of games where Lara learns to be the Tomb Raider, instead of already being such. You learn abilities which in turn open up new areas in already explored areas. People said Shadow isn't the best one, but i thought it was better than Rise in places. Horizon: Zero Dawn From the developers of Killzone comes this adventure, set in a world where robotic creatures patrol Assassin's Creed Origins Preferred Origins to Odyssey. Preferred the Egyptian setting over the Greek one, plus it didn't feel as bloated with side-quests galore either. Uncharted 4 If this was the final outing for Nathan Drake, it's a great outing. God of War I was confused at points, was this a cutscene or gameplay?. How Santa Monica studios pulled it off was just something else. Bring on Ragnarock i say. Super Hero Spider-Man For super hero games, Spider-Man takes the crown. Easily the best of the bunch for me, and can't wait to replay on PS5 with the new features. Batman Arkham Knight 3rd outing for the caped crusader on PS4. Lot of people didn't like the forced Batmobile sections, but i thought they were decent. Gotham was (and remains) massive, so makes sense having something to drive around in. Gravity Rush This is a game that was recommended to me as something different, and i can't complain. Takes a little getting used to with the orientation, but it's a good game when you get used to how it's done. Story Detroit: Become Human This could be a Telltale game here. But, Detroit is different. A game with multiple choices with multiple paths per option, each play as unique as the last one. Platformers New Super Lucky's Tale It's on the easier side of platforming, but above all it's great fun Super Mario Odyssey Been playing Mario games since the days of the NES, people have said this is the best Mario yet. I find it hard to disagree, it's pretty damn impressive. Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair I prefer this to the first game. Playtonic tried to rekindle the magic of Banjo with the first game, but took a different approach on the sequel. Sonic Mania The result of what would happen if you let a group of dedicated fans make an original Sonic game, and we've got something better than Sega themselves could produce in recent years. RPG The Witcher III This is the "how to do RPG games right" type of game. CD Projekt even went as far as giving a fair bit of DLC to players for free, offered a very generously priced season pass with plenty of hours of additional content contained within. And they're patching it for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S to run with better graphics, framerates and lighting. All for no additional cost as well. Racing Gran Turismo Sport Started off quite hollow, but over time it's been loaded with new cars, tracks and an offline mode. It's not the full GT experience, but it's enough to keep things going. Online is the meat of this game, but the penalties can be harsh at times. DriveClub This game was plagued with issues from Day 1, but it still holds some of the best weather effects for a racing game in a game to this day. The online portion was great, racing with other faction members, competing to get fasted times against friends. Then we have the Bikes and VR stuff, which was ok. Shame Evolution was closed, and this game never got a PS4 Pro upgrade. It's a shame that Sony didn't give this game more time, as the season pass content again was very generous. Multiplayer Destiny I'm putting this as a franchise, and with Beyond Light coming it's apparently going to feel more like like the original. You can play solo, or with others in various activities including Raids, Strikes or Crucible. Frequently upgraded each season for new content to keep things fresh. Mario Kart 8 What's not to love, it's Mario Kart Super Smash Brothers Ultimate Smash Brothers with every stage, character and piece of music ever from each Smash game created. Solid game, and there are some cracking players which impress me when i see them playing on-stage or online. The Tomorrow Children This was a weird game. You're online with other players, and you can build a community. It's hard to describe, but it's a shame that this game doesn't exist anymore. Metroidvania Hollow Knight A game you can easily get lost in, great depth and lore. Silksong has a lot to live up to, but i'm 99% certain Team Cherry will do it justice Dead Cells A game where you can replay as many times as you want, similar way to Binding of Isaac where each level is randomly pulled. Except this time, you keep upgrades with orbs you collect. Which makes each play more unique. Ori and the Blind Forest Never thought i'd play this as it was Xbox exclusive, but thanks to the developers porting this over to Switch due to Microsoft and Nintendo's relationship. Great looking game, awesome music and just impressive Yoku's Island Express Metroidvania meets Pinball. Need i say more.

Yeah, this BC issue isn't really going to affect a lot of people. Unless a lot of people plan to play that Black Tiger game or something. My PS5 launch games are set. Got Miles Morales and Sackboy pre-ordered. Have Destiny 2 Beyond Light upgrade sorted too for PS5. Would get Valhalla as a launch title, but still have Odyssey to finish which i'll get through before Christmas either on the PS4 or via BC on the PS5. Speaking of which, i've got a few other games left on PS4 i'd like to play (Maneater is one title, which has a free PS5 upgrade for launch and Crash Bandicoot 4). Plus, there's the PS+ collection to check out.

Had to cancel my break this week due to the local lockdown restrictions, luckily i didn't lose any money. But know a few who have lost a couple hundred pounds from cancelled holidays (UK and abroad). Cardiff is surrounded by local lockdown counties, even though itself isn't in one. Did see my family over the weekend before they announced the lockdown, so that's something.

Went to Bristol a few weeks ago, only off-peak and it was pretty quiet. Haven't had to use it during peak time as of yet, but i'm not planning to anytime soon. They're ok, everyone was distancing from each other and 3/4 were wearing masks/coverings. Edit: More areas in Wales, including Bridgend and Newport are going into local lockdown as of 6pm tomorrow.

Would DriveClub be another not working on PS5?

In a way, you're getting the PS5 version of Spider-Man for about £18 (based on Miles Morales being £51.99). People are wondering if Insomniac will offer the PS5 upgrade to existing Spider-Man owners, i guess time will tell as we get nearer to the games release. At the moment, the only way to get the PS5 version is via the Ultimate Edition of Miles Morales

Pretty much done myself, got Spider-Man: Miles Morales ordered which will do nicely. And ordered Sackboy for the Mrs to play.
