  1. Nintendo Conference Disscussion

...There you go; now you're seeing the light. I'm not saying it was a 100% bollocks conference, there were a few sparkles of goodness. Just a shame most of it was pretty poorly put together, looked awful, and nothing was new. Who saw Sony's conference? It just looked so so much slicker, plasma screens everywhere and stuff, plus the trailers were bang on...Sadly impressed.

...As i said about Metroid. It looks like the Gamecube; very unimpressed. Look: wii.nintendo.com/games_metroid.html I'm sure it'll have fine gameplay though. As for the point that i don't have to play kiddy games, well...I do if i go for Nintendo at the moment. How many proper adult games have be showcased, none so far and i'm worried. I don't consider Red Steel looking like one btw. PS may have Hello Kitty, it has Barbie too. But it also has Killzone, MGS, a non baby-style FF as CC is. I won't buy them, as I said...I just wish Nintendo'd pull it's bloody finger out and conform to the age 10+ of society.

    # ...Yeh? Only game i want to play there is Zelda and probably Metroid too, which Zelda IS a Gamecube game, and if you looked at shots from Metroid is may as well be too. The controller will be good for Metroid at least though. Mario'll be a giggle for a half hour then bored, it's supposed to be "Mario 128" yeh?...I bet that never 'really' existed as a concept, they just made it up and it was subdued to massive speculation. As for Crystal Chronicals...I have the first, it was boring and dull if rather pretty. Give me the new FF on the PS3; that looked like something bloody special mate, same with MGS (even though i'm not too into them). I'm an adult mate, i don't want to be playing Spongebob and look like the kid doing pilotwings (he is what 5? - Nintendo trying to shake kiddy image!). I'll have fun with Mario and i hate GTA so don't say i just love blood and guts, but i do want to play Killzone, Steel Battalion, Doom, HL2 stuff like that. As for the other games, Disaster and Hammer really looked like 3rd party mediocre, if we're still judging them from the tiny amount of clip we got. Looked nothing like should be coming from first party. As for everyone's bashing on about my DS comments, yeh; i see the consoles value for some and i'm happy it's been a success. Better than than the PSP, even though that is unaguably more of a technical marvel (it's an impressive piece of kit and don't try to deny it). The DS just does not appeal to me in any way and i've simply not been impressed with anything it's done. Not nearly as impressed i was with the N64's graphical leap from the SNES for example. I get some people love it, my little brother love's his. It's just an opinion...It's justified; don't slate it.

...God; grow up. It's so ridiculous how you can't say a bad word against NIntendo without being a "sony fanboy". If you'd have read any of my points, which were backed up sufficiently in my previous post...You'd have also read that i've been with NIntendo since day 1, i bought a NES with SMB near it's release and loved it. But i'm tired of the crap...I'm bored of the ridiculous optimism. Regardless, why does it matter how much i love NIntendo. Fact is, as Haver said: "There was nothing outstanding out there today, bar Twilight Princess, which is essentially a GameCube title, and WiiSports, which looks like a lot of fun. Whether I can get real meat from the Wii remains to be seen." ...Hack it mate; it's true. It was a crap performance from Nintendo and i'm as sad as the next "Nintendo fanboy", if that's what you still call people like me who won't look at everything through rose coloured specticles. ...Honestly, i bet you're the kind of person who coined the classic term "Gaystation".
  5. Nintendo Conference Disscussion

I've not bought a DS. First new Nintendo console i've not had...I can't understand the concept; two sides of buttons, with one stylus. I don't have 3 hands?? I played the Mario64 port and thought it was awful. I've not been impressed with one game on the system and besides being happy for its great success, cannot understand why. PSP is a better system in all aspects but i won't buy one because i am loyal to Nintendo. Fact is: They said N64 wouldn't fail, it did. They said Gamecube wouldn't fail; it did. Just see the light yeh.

Cheers Scorp, i'm glad someone read and agreed with some of my (long) opinion. I also agree with Scorp "you can't really compare those titles with Mario/Halo/MGS/Tekken/GTA"...Project Hammer and Disaster looked, ok? They weren't bad but neither look like games i'd either consider buying. Stop all being so optimistic. Fact is that the conference was crap. It showed nothing really new and the games shown we either knew about, were expecting, or didn't really matter. Nintendo, you're getting boring...Who saw the new MGS or FF on PS3? Have to say; they looked mint. Won't we be having fun hitting golf balls, and...Did i see a horse riding game in the conference!? Yeh!!!...The games basically looked like an extended version of the DS demos at E3 in 2004; gimmicky and shallow.

I honestly cannot believe the majority of your reactions to Nintendo's E3 conference because, well...It was frankly awful Before i explain myself thoroughly, can I say; don't make this a flame war. We're all entitled to an opinion and I feel than I am justified in expressing mine, I have been a Nintendo fan since the days of the good ol' NES...I'm only considering giving this up now after yet another pathetic performance. Firstly; style. I really hope at least Nintendo are saving some money through their lack of creative, style-orientated employees because, I’m now convinced they have none. I feel the Ipod is a fantastic product to look at this point from. It's an utterly terrible product technically in comparison to many of the opposition’s equivalents and is flawed in many aspects such as battery life. However, it is, by far, the most successful product of its kind, and will remain one of the most successful products ever for a very long time to come. I feel this is purely down to style. It's slick exterior, the sexy eye-candy in the adverts, etc etc. Bringing this back to Nintendo, I strongly believe the 2006 E3 conference, in nearly as terrible way to last years, was purely hopeless for it's style. The drab blues and greens of a logo which seems old and tired was saddening, it was all tremendously drab, dull, and unsophisticated. Why can't Nintendo produce style like that of Sony's? I know you all think Sony are 'bad', and have emerged from the depths of hell taking orders from no-one but Satan himself...But, for example, look at their website: eu.playstation.com/europe/europe_select.jhtml Now look at Nintendos: nintendo-europe.com/NOE/language_select.jsp The lack of style is endless for Nintendo. But also the inconsistency in their presentation let them down. Sections such as the Twilight Princess preview could have been slick, but were poorly presented and choreographed, leaving them looking very unprofessional and amateur. I will add that I find this all very ironic considering the styling of the ‘Wii’ (what a crap name), which is very nice indeed. It really is a shame; they let themselves down, time after time. I won’t even go into the ‘kiddy image’ here…I agree no end and am wholly sick of it. Look at the games they showcased ‘Wiisports’, ‘Excitetruck’…They even had a section on Spongebob and tried to make him sound appealing! I’m not suggesting these games aren’t needed but, why can’t there be Metal Gear Solid, why can’t there be Halo, why can’t there be beautiful and extensive Japanese-style RPG’s…The closest we got (excluding Zelda I will say) was Crystal Chronicals, but…Why does it have the ‘kiddy image’ injected into it??? It makes me very angry, why were the games showcased on the PS3 yesterday on Wii because sorry, but, they were just considerably better. Sad, but deep down we all know it…Mario is needed and looked nice, so did Metroid Prime, but Nintendo are on the edge and they’re not doing anything to appeal. Talking of ‘appealing’…This new getting everyone is to gaming is unreal. Do they really think adults are going to buy the Wii?...And the old people they have in the promotional videos. Of course not. Maybe it’s that Nintendo do not understand the Western world, but I laugh with sadness every time they play that line; it’ll never happen. Finally on to the graphics of Wii. I’m not impressed. I do agree to some lengths that graphics aren’t all but compared to the beauty seen from the PS3, Wii, at the moment…Is not cutting it. The controller is a nice idea (even though the demonstration today made it look bloody awful), but still…The games don’t look good enough visually, or depth-wise. They look fun at first, like Warioware, or the Sony Eye Toy games. But soon we’ll all wish that we weren’t endlessly swinging our arms to hit a ball, or pulling to reel in a fish…And wonder why we’re not playing beautiful games with legendry storylines and wonderful concepts. E3 showed us nohing new...Oh, besides a menial speaker. It looked cheap, childish, and gimmicky but, I’ll stop now. I’ve missed a great deal of what I would like to say but I hope you at least understand, and also hope you can prove me wrong. I’d like to talk to Satoru Iwata and ask him what he is doing to the company I once loved because now I’m growing very, very tired. The PS3 is looking more and more appealing every day from every aspect. The endless boring surprises and lack of quality from Nintendo does not look sugar coated anymore. Since the N64 I’ve been trying to deny they’re dead, or at least dying…Now I’m happy to publicly admit I believe I was very wrong indeed, shame.
