Well I finally got to Super Challenge Mode, not gonna be easy to S-Rank that though. Well, apart from Crush (already done those!) What can I say, smashing into trucks just comes naturally to me.
The Gate and Ring challenges on the other hand...
Got about 5 or 6 tracks left to S-Rank on Super Excite Mode too but I don't see them being as much of a problem.
Apart from...
Diamond Cup's annoyingly transparent outer space track of death
of course!
Has anyone managed to S-Rank the whole game yet?
Hopefully I will get my last car soon and unlock...[spoiler=]"The Monster Truck. For those who have unlocked this is it worth using ASAP?"
Wasp? That's the only truck that is still greyed out on my game, I've got no idea how to unlock it though.

Can we have a recently released list? As selfish a request as it is, I didn't know Excite Truck was out and I've been waiting for nothing. Good times.
Sure no probs. Starting from now then I'll leave the most recent releases on the list for a while.Perhaps in future leave released games on the list for a week or two after they come out?: peace:
-
No of course not, I'd much rather spend ages playing through a game to unlock stuff that I already know about.Ok, people bothered about "spoilers" in a racing game?? Man sorry does it mess up the storyline?Seriously though, fair enough if some people aren't bothered by knowing every single detail of a game before they even play it, but those people should still respect the fact that many will want to discover the secret stuff for themselves.
I'm not having a go at H-o-T, or anyone else here, I'm just saying is all.

Completed Super Excite Mode now ...
...The Diamond Cup Track was a right pain in the arse to beat because it's kind of transparent looking which makes it a bit tricky to navigate, the trees are replaced with these weird looking space coral or something
and the POW's are much harder to reach because of them. It's a gorgeous track though...
...Still got a few trucks to unlock, and I still need to S-Rank Super Excite Mode too.
Think I might concentrate on Challenge Mode for a bit now though.

I just unlocked Super Excite Mode!
Whoa, even more trucks to unlock and a new cup?!
How do some people (i.e. dumb ass reviewers) think this game has no longevity, and that it's not a fully fledged game? There's shit loads of stuff to unlock and the VS mode (despite being only 2 player) is simply excellent.
Anyway there's more than enough content in this to keep me playing for ages yet I reckon, good job too as I have absolutely no idea when or what my next Wii game will be.
*EDIT*
I just noticed that you can rotate the trophy's with the d-pad and spin em' around by moving the Wii Remote, pretty cool.

just noticed the release list says rampage is tbd but its out now in europe
Cheers for the heads up people.dragon ball z -moved to 23/03/07Don't know how I didn't realize Rampage Total Destruction was out already.

Was playing some more VS today and did the most amazing truck throw ever. My mate was up ahead (near the end of a ramp) and I went over the (!) at just the right time, made the ramp extend and absolutely blasted his truck into the sky! It was seriously insane, he was in the air for like 20 seconds or so, on the replay he was so high up that my truck looked like an ant!
It was the perfect opportunity to do spins, but he can't do them for shit so he just got loads of Super Airs instead.
I've at least managed to do a 1080° now. :awesome:
-
Bloody hell Cube! That's an awesome Super Air Spin you've got there.
Best I've done is 720°.
-
Did they have a release date for Freshly Picked Tingles Rosy Rupeeland? (Quality title! )
-
Same here.Replays are amazing. If there was an option to save them, I would of probably filled up both the Wii's and SD Cards memory by now.
Yeah, the draw distance is incredible. And not a bit of pop-up either.I love it when the camera goes like that. It's stunning.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that did that!i had to laugh a few times though when i found myself still trying to use the d-pad to turn and wondering why is my engine over heating, ahaha. -
Classic!God I wish I had an SD card. My brain is coming out.I'm loving the custom soundtrack thing, I'd so have to play this with no music at all if I didn't have an SD card.
I just wish you could replace the music on the menus too, oh and the start up screen in the disc channel. Damn that guitar is annoying!
-
It sure is, played it for a couple of hours earlier on and it was amazing! If it was 4 player my head would probably explode, it's intense enough with just 2 players. Scrapping for the POW is such a great laugh, can really turn the flow of a game too.Playing this in multi is just ACE!I started to find some crazy shortcuts during the VS session (love the one in China where you can jump and drive along the great wall!) But there are so many less obvious one's around too, the fact you can just go off road almost anywhere and drive through loads of trees and stuff and then come out later to be back on the track is so cool.
We must have watched the replays for pretty much every race too, damn I wish there was an option to save them.
But seriously, if anyone is not turned on by the single player make sure to give VS mode a try, it's awesome!

Updated the list.
It seems to be a very busy time for 3rd party stuff in the next few weeks.
Nothing that takes my fancy though.
I'm slightly concerned at the lack of release dates for any of the 1st party games.

Give it a chance! 20 minutes is no way enough time to get the controls down. Plus there are loads of different trucks to unlock, the ones you get later handle better than any of the initial 3.Got it this morning > What a piece of shit. The handling is so awful, and it's not as if it's the fault of the wii-mote either. You tilt it a tiny bit and the car turns sideways! Then once you get into the actual racing after the stupid, pointless tutorial, you smash into a tree every five bloody seconds. I'm very dissapointed that I wasted thirty quid on a game where they can't even get the physics right.EA can do a better job than this. I'm not even sure if I want to play it again, and I've only played it about 20 minutes.
Yeah man, Crush really needed to be in VS. I love that mode so much, gives me a major adrenaline rush! Not experienced in playing a racing game since F-Zero GX.Wish they had all the game modes in VS (Race,Crush,Gates,Air) -
That's strange Owen, mine arrived today.
Just did the tutorial and a few races, it took me a while to get used to how it controls (kept trying to use the D-Pad to steer. ) But I think I'm getting the hang of it now.
It's really quite rewarding doing all these massive jumps and smashing through trees ect... And although you don't really notice when playing it's a great looking game too, I was kind of disappointed at first by the graphics but then I watched some replays of my races and was like... Wow! There's a great sense of speed too, It moves like the car chases in old TV shows, like Knight Rider, you know how they speed them up a la Benny Hill.
The only downside for me is the soundtrack, I don't actually remember the last time I heard such awful music, in fact this might just be the worst I've ever heard! Thank God for the SD card option, I really feel for anyone that doesn't have an SD card!

I would love it if someone could make me a Ryo/Nozomi (Shenmue) sig, in the same size and style as my current one, with the Stocka there in the same font and colour. I'd like it to be a sort of blend of these two if possible:http://shenmue.planets.gamespy.com/images/shenmue1art/Usc00.jpg

I hate the controls in boxing, so unresponsive!
At first I was worried it was an issue with the Wii controllers, but it's blatantly just how Nintendo designed Wii boxing to try and make people freak out while playing it!
The boxing game in WarioWare: Smooth Moves is a million times more responsive than Wii Sports boxing.
I really hope we see a boxing game on Wii (A new version of Punch-Out!! would be good) with really accurate controls where what ever you do is replicated in-game perfectly.

That Eledees date is poopiees!
Can't be right anyway as games always come out on Friday.

Glad you got it sorted.@RedShellYou're quite right about the wiimote sound, as it turns out. Thing is though, it won't fix it instantly, it has to load another map for me for it to work. I happily trade the tinny speaker for un-spazzy reticle. Thanks for the tip!
I've never managed to recieve a phonecall with the wiimote sound still on. Does the mobile phone speak sound through that speaker at all? Because that would be real neat.
The phone conversations don't play through the Wii Remote just the ring tone, you're right though that would've been cool if they did.
Firstly, loving the Wii Remote gif.The last few days, my wii-mote has being playing up, but since yesterday, it hasnt connected to my wii at all, and whenever I press a button, it just does this for a bit, then stopsits not the batteries, and its not because Im too far away/close.
Also, Ive had my wii unplugged since yesterday, but I switched it back on today, and this still happens!
annoying as I only have one wii-mote
any suggestions?
Secondly, this has happened to me before.
Turning the Wii off, unplugging it from the mains for a while and then starting it up again didn't fix it at first, I had to repeat that procedure a few times before it worked. I never messed with re-syncing it though and it hasn't happened since.
But if that doesn't work for you, maybe this'll help:
-
For me it's...
If I had to put them in order it'd be:
1/ Super Mario Kart
2/ Mario Kart DS
3/ Mario Kart Super Circuit
4/ Mario Kart 64
5/ Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
(I've not played the Arcade versions.)
Mario Kart DS comes really close to Super Mario Kart, but there's just something about the SNES game, a certain vibe that makes me love it so much, it's actually my favourite Nintendo game ever!
-
Can you run it in 60Hz?Great port, just wizzed through the first couple of cups on 50CC. Still looks pretty nice over component.I'm looking forward to the SNES version much more, but I don't see it coming to the VC anytime soon so I'm probably going to crack and download this anyway.

That's strange, turning off the sound from the Wii Remote fixes the glitch for me.I turned the sound off and I still get the jitter, so I don't think it's related at all. It doesn't really interfere with the game too much though, and if it's confined to Red Steel it's okay.It didn't happen all that often in my game so I left the Wii Remote sound on and put up with it. I only disabled the sound a few times when it would freak out quite a lot, but like I said before it would solve the problem completely, every time.
Mind you I have read other peoples accounts of this issue and not all of them were resolved by using the same technique. Some claim they have to also disable the rumble setting, or actually adjust the pointer sensitivity (in the Wii console settings) in order to fix it, so I guess it's pretty random.
Anyway, it's definitely exclusive to Red Steel so I wouldn't worry about it.
-
Yeah this is one of Red Steel's many glitches, the only way to solve the problem is to go into the Wii Remote settings and turn the speaker volume off.Sometimes my *reticle* jumps a bit. It only happens sometimes, and it doesn't really affect gameplay too much as it returns to where I was aiming before in a split second. However, I was wondering if this is a known Red Steel thing or if it's the Wiimote being messed with by something in my room.So it's a case of enjoying the gun reload effects and have slightly jumpy aiming, or, have no sound from the Wii Remote and perfectly smooth aiming.
I really don't get why the sound should effect the controls though, pretty weird huh?

Just checked on NoE's release dates page and it's also showing as 23/3 so I've changed it on the first page now, thanks for pointing that out. Also - it says on the Release List page that Wing Island is 23/3, not 23/2 - which is the right one?

Wasp and the Monster Truck last night. I think the Monster Truck is pretty good, it handles like you'd expect but the full stats for Speed, Air and Turbo more than make up for the way it moves...
I reckon it'll come in handy for getting the last few S-Ranks.
