  1. my mate said he saw 2000 wii points going cheap in GAME (or gamestation - i wasn't really listening to him....) when he was in town. £8.99 instead of £13.99 !

haven't seen it myself, so can't confirm. but that's almost half price.

The deal is in GAME and it's 2000 Wii Points for £7.99 when bought with anything else in store. (well, I think it can be anything, not 100% sure though) Anyway, I got some the other day when I picked up Mario Slam Basketball.

I downloaded Kid Icarus yesterday. Man that game is as cruel as ever! :heh: Still great fun too.

  2. Like Shop-to net?
I'm seriously considering them for my next purchase now, I remember someone on here saying that they send stuff out early every time.

Shame about Gameplay though, there's really no incentive to use them anymore as you can get games cheaper and on release day from loads of places. They should at least lower their prices now if they plan to carry on working this way. :hmm:

  3. Thought the gameplay pre-orderers would be chatting about their order status.

Can't wait to get this game (Ive preordered from gameplay ;) )

So they've not sent it out then?

Did anyone get this (or any new release for that matter) today from Gameplay? Or have they really changed for the worse.

  4. If it wasn't for No More Heroes it would be my most wanted Wii game.
Now there's a contrast for ya!

Reminds me of when I was playing through Eternal Darkness at the same time as Animal Crossing. Good times.

Can't say I've ever really got into Harvest Moon, only played the SNES version a little bit though.

  5. "You're going the wrong way!"- F zero X announcer.
That guy was seriously annoying! :heh: Mind you it got even worse in F-Zero Climax, "There's another racer on your tail!" and "You're about to lose the lead!" ARRGGGHHHH!

I've not really played much single player Excite Truck since S-Ranking it a while back, just a few VS games here and there. It's definitely one for the collection though.

  6. Initially this seems to play very similar to SMB, but it's actually got much more depth to the gameplay than the first few stages suggest, and the game requires you to do a lot more motion with the Wii Remote.

For example in SMB you tilt the control 45 degrees in any direction and the table will be at its maximum tilt, but in kororinpa you can basically keep going and the table will follow suite, so you have complete control of the table. A lot of stages see you having to tilt by 90 degrees and continue to play with the Wii Remote on its side, the later stages then apply that to the forward and backward motions too so you have the Wii Remote pointing at the floor, it can get pretty tricky! :heh:

As for the camera well I've only noticed a few issues with it where sometimes your view gets obscured and it tries to make a very slight movement to let you see where you're going, but most of the time any object that gets in the way will just turn transparent, so it's all good.

it broke my heart to have to complete stage 43 again!.
I had the joy of playing that stage last night, certainly won't be an easy one to get gold on that's for sure! :shakehead

Anyway, my file is at 51% right now. I've unlocked the...

...Flash ball, which is very cool as you can completely customize how it moves by adjusting response, speed, slide and bounce.

It doesn't beat the cat ball though.

  7. I got Kororinpa this morning, £10 after trading in Red Steel (which I'm very glad to see the back of).

Had a feeling this game would be my cup of tea, and it wasn't wrong. I'm really enjoying it! Love everything about it so far, the controls are spot on, the graphics (although pretty basic) are very nice and it has a great style to it, the various balls are hilarious (the cat one had me in stitches every time it hits the floor too hard and does a really high pitch meow!) And the music is awesome, I'm up to the city stages and the Latin style tracks on those are amazing, the retro ones are cool too.

The 16:9 / massive borders thing was weird though, it's as if Hudson didn't know the correct aspect ratio for widescreen or something. ::shrug: Anyway as pointed out before, setting it to 4:3 sorts that one out.

Looking forward to trying out the VS mode later on.

I gather it's a very short game, but is anyone that got it in February still playing? Looks like it has potential replay value in going for high scores / best times.

  8. Galaxy is shaping up rather lovely though I must say. It looks like a very interesting take on the traditional platformer, Mario flying and floating around and running around upside down and stuff. looking positively glorious.
Yeah, I've watched the new trailer quite a few times now and to me it's almost as if they've re-invented the platform genre once again! Obviously not as much of a leap as what they did with Mario 64 at the time, but it just seems amazing to be able to move so freely around all of these spherical environments and explore. I love the idea that you can approach the edge of an area and just keep going and discover loads of new stuff on the opposite side, (no more invisible walls :heh: ) I can't wait to see just how complex the environments become, the level design is going to be crazy!

I get the impression that this game must've been a right pain in the arse to program though, the fact that Mario moves so seamlessly around all of the different structures is pretty impressive I reckon, especially when you consider some developers still have difficulty making characters move properly on flat surfaces or up stairs and stuff. But this just looks so damn slick.

I really hope we don't have to wait until December for this game! But I'm guessing that'll probably be the case. :shakehead

  9. Isn't Prince of Persia: Rival Swords out on the 30th March
Every online retailer I've looked at has it down for April, but if anyone knows of a different date please post or PM me the source so I can check it out.

  10. OK I sorted out the list a bit, moved Trauma Centre and Eledees out of the TBD section too despite neither of them having solid release dates yet, but surely they've got to be out soon!

I still don't believe how many titles are down for the 30th, looks a right mess. ::shrug: I'd understand if we were going to have so many games every month but it really doesn't look that way at the moment so they should spread them out a bit!

Anyway thanks to everyone for the suggestions / info, keep it coming!

    : peace:

  11. Yes and no.

Thing is, the upgrades help out *a lot* in addressing almost all of your concerns. Sonic gets faster, easier to control, and gains a lot of abilities that will make some of your early issues with the game disappear.

The fighting is mostly clunky though, especially if you got into STH at all, and none of the extra homing attack upgrades redeem that. I wouldn't say it kills the flow, because you'll be constantly moving even when you dispatch of enemies, it's just that it feels sort of forced. Especially since the camera tends to freak out during those moments, often opting for a twitchy overhead perspective that doesn't really seem intended at all.

But no, I'd say it gets increasingly smooth as you upgrade Sonic, and it gets increasingly rewarding to play because of that aswell. It all has a bit of a steep learning curve though. In that regard - and many other - it feels a lot like Sonic Riders.

Well it's certainly sounding a lot better after reading that, Cheers.

Now if someone could just answer my question about the music (whether or not you can turn it off) I'll be one step closer to reconsidering the game.

  12. Hmm... A lot of conflicting views here. :hmm:

I decided I wouldn't be getting this after watching various videos of it in action, gameplay wise it comes across as very clunky. It appears to take ages for sonic to pick up speed and the forced movement looks a bit annoying too, but the thing I really don't like the look of is the jumping / attacking enemy's. This jumping up, kind of floating, and then charging into enemy's from that position looks like it totally kills the flow of the game, I wish it was just like the original 2D version whereby you jump but keep on moving forward at the same time and not lose any speed.

Would people with the game agree with any of that, or have I completely misinterpreted the way it plays via the online videos?

The only other negative point for me based on gameplay footage I've seen is the soundtrack, really bad considering the early Sonic games had such cool music and Sonic Rush was pretty good too, (plus no SD feature to help it out like Excite Truck) can the game be played with just the SFX?
