N-E Online Mario Parties (Week 27 - Waluigi's Island - MP3)
Glen-i replied to Glen-i's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Horror Land After that surprisingly Wario Land-esque ending, we're moving on to Horror Land. Why is it so horrifying? Eh, a Wizard Bowser probably did it. This board is so good, Mario Party 6 nicked it's defining feature and used it on all of the boards there. Said defining feature is the time of day changing every 2 turns. A lot of things change depending on whether it's daytime or nightime, so some forward planning is required. Of note is the 5(!?) Boo spaces! Although, they aren't all available at once due to the day/night cycle. This board is complex. What's with that big statue in the top right corner though? You'll need a lot of luck, and a Skeleton Key, to utilise that thing... -

I'm not entirely sure the main game has an online feature. Just a few of the minigames. -

Pokémon Presents: 27th February 2023 @ 14:00 GMT

Haven't been able to get online much this week. But seeing as you're clearly jonesing for it... See, you want an Explorers remake, @Dcubed wants a new entry. I can't decide which I'd prefer! As far as the factors surrounding the gameplay go, nothing in any Pokémon game has nailed it like Explorers of Sky has. It's a good looking game with an excellent plot, superb music and an extensive amount of content to it. But since then, I've played Super Mystery Dungeon, and the gameplay in that is challenging and has a dearth of mechanics in it! I've since wanted an Explorers remake that keeps most of the non gameplay stuff intact, but uses the gameplay stuff seen in Super. Rescue Team DX can be described best as "Rescue Team with Super's gameplay". So take Super's gameplay, and Rescue Team DX's gorgeous watercolour art style, and plonk it in Explorers, and that's dream game territory! But there's arguments for a new entry in my head. Of course, a new story is always exciting. Spike Chunsoft have really excelled in bringing great plots to the Pokémon franchise, so I'm up for anything their writers whip up. And to put Dcubed's point another way, we haven't had an MD game with any Pokémon from Sun/Moon onward! We haven't had Incineroar or Toxtricity yet, and I really want to see their takes on characterising them. Now, there's a chance that a theoretical Explorers remake would have more modern Pokémon, but after Rescue Team DX, I don't expect anything more then what was already there, plus Slyveon, and maybe Arceus. Of course, I wouldn't be expecting Mystery Dungeon more then I normally do, if it wasn't for that thing Dcubed showed me a little while back. Can't remember the details, but it had Spike Chunsoft listed in a trademark for some Pokémon thing with the 1993 date next to them, which is when they did their first Mystery Dungeon. It's too convenient. And after the disappointing year of Pokémon games last year, I really need a good Pokémon game again. -
I just remembered this, but you beat me to it. I was telling @Dcubed that Hector has the same voice actor as Olberic from Octopath Traveler, but he stumbled upon the Berkut/Bunet connection, and I was floored! I never would've guessed!

You can't keep Pass if you reclass her. Class skills are locked to their respective classes.

That would be even less accurate! Unless Ranger gets a severe shift in how it's played, I'm afraid that the 3DS was that series last chance. It's a shame. They're quite good. But to be honest, you only need to play the third one, then you've pretty much seen what there is to see. Also doesn't help that Creatures Inc. is likely working on that rumoured Detective Pikachu sequel. -

Maybe if you Rangerers actually bought the damn games, we wouldn't be here. That's what happens when you churn out two sequels in far too short a time, I suppose. Also, how the hell are you supposed to circle as fast as you need to on a Switch screen for those games!? Go on, try doing that on a Switch and let me know how long it takes you to scratch it. -

All those LCD and Flash games have really warped his sense of taste! It is cheesy fun though, won't deny that. Until you go for the true ending, then it just gets miserable. -

Mystery Land Black Hole Bowser didn't expect Yoshi to be able to run at the speed of sound, then again, who did? Now we move on to a board that looks somewhat similar to Wario's Battle Canyon. It's not as random. The dreaded Bowser Sphinx resides here, cursing all who meet it with the most devious of riddles. You mostly move between the islands by landing on a happening space. So I hope your dice game is up to snuff. There are ways to bribe yourself to where you need to go though. Of note is the Shy Guy Curse House, where you can pay to put a slow curse on someone, including yourself. It may come in handy. Friday night is when I expect we'll play this board. -

Heads up for @S.C.G and @BowserBasher that we're starting this in just over 10 minutes. -
Great minds, I've been doing the same. Just feels right. Although, I might be going overkill, because I only use characters that match the game they're from. Which led to the awkward realisation that I couldn't kill anything in Mystic Quest because I only had Benjamin in the party for those songs.

Great, the Advent Children version of One Winged Angel is still it's massive 6 minute version. So now I'm completely flummoxed on why everything else seems to have been shortened to 2 minutes. I'm up to Dissidia now (past the 2005 mark). Wonderful, wonderful game.

I'm legit, no joke, more keen to watch this then the Mario movie.
-
Holy hell! I may have spent the last 7 hours playing and I've only just gotten to FF 9. (Going by release order, so Mystic Quest and Tactics is done, but I skipped over the 7 spin-offs and remake) Someone help me! Not keen on the game reverting to the short version of Dancing Mad and One-Winged Angel though. That sucks.

Sea of Stars - A retro-inspired turn-based RPG (29/08/2023)
Glen-i replied to darksnowman's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I played the demo yesterday. You're right in that it's Chrono Trigger meets Mario RPG, but the dungeon you got to explore gave me mad Golden Sun vibes. Very puzzle focused. It's promising so far. I kinda dig the demo structure where it jumps ahead to the point before the dungeon and redacts dialogue at one point to avoid spoilers. It's a nice touch. Also, it's drop dead gorgeous. The animation is stellar, the only thing that bothered me was that the cook party member (his name escapes me) flips the sprite horizontally depending on which way he's looking, which would be fine, if it wasn't for the fact that he has a scar over his left eye, so the scarred eye changes depending on his direction. It's an odd mistake, considering how good everything looks here. Definitely gonna drop money for this. I've been dying for a puzzle focused RPG like Golden Sun and Lufia II.
