I've been playing with DCubed's sister and we're up to World 3-5 now. There have been more than a few times when a stray wool egg has ricocheted and knocked the other Yoshi to it's doom. Naturally, this is hilarious. Also, when you get two Yoshies, make them face each other and stand as close as you can, their noses squish together. It's absolutely precious and I can't take it!

I went to my independant game shop. Who needs online?

And maybe that's the problem? So many of you have just associated Serebii with something that is wrong and must be stopped. Of course, I can't prove this is what has happened, like you said, I'm newer than most people here. But it's the kind of vibe I get. Some people attack him over the most minute stuff. But I'd like to bring up the chat room reaction to Blast Ball again. And the many reaction posts having a pop at how Serebii was wrong. You were there, you know what I'm talking about. How is that kind of behaviour supposed to help anything? What I saw was a celebration of someone being wrong about something, just because "he was pretty sure it wouldn't happen" It was disgusting. Just because he has annoyed some people here, he should be lambasted at every opportunity? You're not going to fix anything by sticking to this "Everything Serebii says is arrogant and wrong" attitude. You're just going to make things worse and worse. And quite frankly, I couldn't give a toss about what he's done in the past. I managed to see past Wii's Captain Turd obsession, why can't you do the same?
-
@Serebii, care to weigh in? (Politely!) I'd like to see a bit more context about this. Because I've yet to see any kind of arrogant behaviour that wasn't instigated by another post. And even if he is arrogant, even if he's got a reputation. That still doesn't excuse the downright horrific behaviour I've seen directed at him. You're not gonna improve anyone's behaviour by fighting fire with fire!
-
See, I don't get that impression. Even when he has opinions or, god forbid, makes a guess at something, people attack him. It's bordering on bullying and it makes me extremely uncomfortable whenever it happens. Maybe some people here have been letting themselves get wound up so much for so long, it's become involuntary.
-
That still doesn't excuse people from coming and moaning about a game they've never even touched. Yes, it's OK to voice your opinion why you don't want to play the game, but that also means you know less about said game than those who do play it. And that most certainly does not excuse you from constantly badgering a thread about how much a game sucks. (The "Captain Turd" fiasco, while most certainly not the only example, was incredibly childish, Wii, and it really did give me a bad impression of you, considering I was quite new to the forums at the time and like many others, genuinely enjoyed that game. Luckily, after that died down, I found out you were actually quite an OK guy, a bit over-passionate at times, but OK) It's why I would almost never be seen in the "Other Consoles" thread. Of course, I'm not perfect either, I've had heated debates with people now and again. (Sheikah and I agreed to disagree about FF8... I hope) But I like to think I never start debates out of malice. Disagreements, yeah, opinions matter on a forum. Although I might take the mick in a humourous way, I hope that people can see that by now though. Before I go on too long, there's one more thing I want to mention. What is up with the antagonistic attitude towards Serebii? Almost everything he says is jumped on by someone in a knee-jerk, offensive manner. Sure, he's not always on his best behaviour, but I get the impression that it's more defensive on his part. One particular horrid example was in the chat room during Ninty's E3 Digital Event when it was revealed that BlastBall was part of Federation Force. One of the many responses weren't really about the game but the fact that "Serebii was wrong! AHAHAHA!" and "Where's Serebii now!?" I thought I was in bloody school again! I just wanted to leave that chat, I couldn't believe some of the behaviour I was seeing. People can be wrong and people can have opinions, but to have people actually celebrating when someone is wrong, it's disgusting, and quite frankly, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

I kinda really want a Shulk one... You know? I look at it and I'm just rally feeling it. Will have to keep an eye out for it. (Probably won't happen though, I can't even get a single Yarn Yoshi while some of you have all 3, you greedy smegs!)
-
No, the game just makes me depressed. They still refuse to use the Wii Motion Plus...
-
That's fantastic! Was it a look of complete and utter jealousy?
-
You... ruined my laughter. Oh, you are a mean person!

Yeah, that was the general opinion I got from most of the people I met while I lived in Ireland. Now don't get me wrong, Portumna in Ireland is full of many, many, many drunkards. But when they live in the middle of nowhere, I don't blame them one bit. I almost went mad living there... Nope, I'm not touching that one...
-
How about you go have a pint of Guinness, @Wii? SEE!? NOT SO NICE, HUH!?
-
Hope your family aren't total gits! Seriously though, I welcome this. There's more than enough stupidity on Miiverse. Nice to see Ninty cracking down on people trying to get past restrictions. EDIT: Oh lord, the replies on that Miiverse post only cement my point further, I can always count on outraged Miiverse users to be utterly dumb.

Amazing, isn't it? Japan generally hate shooters, so it's truly amazing that this has done so well over there. It appears that Nintendo have cracked how to do a shooter that Japan would like. They didn't do a shooter I liked though. That still goes to Resi Evil 4 Wii Edition.

A week ago, I finished quite a special little game... Maybe you've heard of it? (Box art not real) Of course, the official name is now Earthbound Beginnings. It was a pretty big deal when this was revealed just before the Nintendo World Championships. Naturally, I snapped it up ASAP. Mainly because I played a ROM of it ages ago, and I promised myself I would buy any of the three games in this series if they got released in Europe, no questions asked. But does it live up to my expectations or is it doomed to be forever in the other 2 games shadow? The first thing that really hits you is just how amazing the soundtrack is. When a game makes me stay on a title screen because of the music, then you know you're in for some ridiculously good music. (Of course, it is a NES game, so don't go expecting choirs) So for those of you who is finding the form of this game inexplicable... Earthbound Beginnings is the first game in the Earthbound/Mother series, you know, the series where Ness and Lucas come from. But they're not in this game. The game features a boy called Ninten, who upon getting woken up by strange noises, gets attacked by his lamp. After dealing with possessed lamps and dolls, he finds a music box which plays a few notes. Naturally, this means Ninten has to go find the other 7 of these "Melodies" and solve the mystery of what happened to the aforementioned George and Maria. (It's on that fanmade box art I posted, don't you even read?) Earthbound Beginnings is very much a typical old-school RPG. Heavily influenced by the early Dragon Quest games. But instead of it being a fantasy middle-ages kind of affair, you're in a modern day (Well, modern for 1989) America. Fighting Hippies and Crows and 18-wheeler trucks armed with Bats, frying pans and bottle rockets! It's quite novel, even by today's standards and it definitely helps to differentiate Earthbound from the likes of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. But, just like old-school FF and DQ, Earthbound Beginnings does suffer from some of the trappings of the era. There's more than a few moments when you have to wonder, "How the hell is anyone supposed to find that?" One completely extreme example was finding the 5th melody... OK, see that desert area? Now there's one cactus out of all those that looks slightly different to all the other cacti. That's where the 5th melody is. There are hints for that, but they're very subtle. It's quite easy to miss a melody and have to retrace your steps. Fair warning: The second and seventh melody are both pretty meanly hidden as well. The game also suffers from some massive difficulty spikes, especially near the end of the game. You'll probably have to grind now and again. One thing that really does stand out in Earthbound Beginnings is just how much it influenced the original Pokemon games. You can totally tell that some of the people who made this went to work on Pokemon Red/Blue. Modern day setting, Kid goes off on a journey by himself without much explanation, a certain enemy looking awfully familiar to a certain Pokemon and such. Incidentally, I had no idea that @Serebii had an account on the Starmen forums (Site about the Mother/Earthbound series). Fancy explaining that, considering that you've outright said you don't enjoy Earthbound on the SNES? Anyway, wrapping this up, Earthbound Beginnings was a game that was quite ahead of it's time, but that time was 1989. So it would be foolish to say that it can feel a bit dated at times. But look past that and you'll find a charming little RPG that has a surprisingly heartfelt story and leaves you with a glowing feeling of accomplishment. Is it better than Earthbound and the still-to-be-released Mother 3? No. But that doesn't mean that this isn't a great game. In fact, it's probably my favourite NES game ever. If you even like RPG's just a little bit, you need to give this a go. Use a guide if you must, but seriously, play this game. It deserves to be played. (Although I would recommend Earthbound on the SNES first, as it's more balanced and fair and it doesn't ruin the story of the first game) EDIT: Woops, forgot to post the list!

You do realise me being more street-lingo than anyone else is a sign of the apocalypse, right? You've seen it here first. Dr. Bob is to blame for everything bad that happens from now on. If you only you were more gangsta, like Yoshi, you could have saved us all.
-
Should point out that that's America. We don't know if we're getting two separate games or not yet. (Although it's not looking good...)
-
Meanwhile, I walked into my awesome independent game shop, asked "Yo, youse got Woolly World, gangsta?" And he was all like "Check it, fo shizzle". Paid forty G's and moonwalked out of there.* *Conversation may appear more street than how it actually happened.

And taking into account this being a new IP on the WiiU. It's quite impressive. I hope this encourages Ninty to carry on trying more new IP's out. There are some right gems that have come about from this. Even though they're mostly overlooked. *Cough*Dillon's Rolling Western*cough

Nintendo confirms that Fire Emblem Fates will add same-sex marriages. These are definitely steps in the right direction, small steps, but steps none the less. Glad to see they learnt some lessons after the whole Tomodachi life fiasco.

I hate you. I don't think I'll ever be able to get one. It's so fluffy and squishy!
-
If I wasn't on my phone, I'd find an appropriate laugh GIF. I mean, wow. That's just amateurish! EDIT: Not on my phone anymore! And it's still funny!
-
You've got a good point. But I still maintain that just because there are a lot of 2D platformers out there, they shouldn't be a detriment to each other. Especially if that game is well made. (Of course, I haven't played Wooly World, so I can't say for certain)
-
I always try my best to do so. I mean, I will say "I enjoy this game more than that game" now and again. The main difference is that I'm not a reviewer. Well, not professionally, definitely. If I was getting paid to write a review, I'd go out of my way to not compare it to other games that happen to have the same genre. Luckily, I don't have to do that, but I expect professional reviewers to do that.
-
Hmmm... Not how I would have worded that... If Serebii's right (And I have no reason to disbelieve him), this seems like a poorly written review (OK, not review, poorly written sentence at least). Good controls should never be a negative! Especially if it makes playing the game easier! It's probably the most BS thing I've seen in a while. And this change gives the impression they were called out on it. And rightly so!
