  1. What Have You Bought?

Nope, if anything it's slower. Although it's very quick to clean. Just makes a nicer tasting coffee IMO.
  2. What Have You Bought?

Splash out a bit more for an Aeropress, you won't regret it.
  3. What Have You Bought?

Haha I wasn't trying to be awkward. The Lumie is an alarm that wakes you up with automatic light and its like... £60-200 depending on the model. If your only issue is being woken when a bright light turns on I figured there's simpler options
  4. Virtual Reality

I really enjoy it, but I must admit my interest waned somewhat after not very long. There's a few top tier titles but the more I play it, the more I struggle to suspend my disbelief and the "screen door" effect becomes more apparent, physically and mentally*. PSVR is dropping in price and part of me wishes I'd got one of those instead, because software support is key to getting the ball to keep rolling. Also agree with Grazza above. The tech is great but it needs to be even better. I'm playing it at about as high quality as is currently possible, and it could still be bigger and better. FoV could be wider, wireless and less bulky options in the future will also make it a much better experience. * Secret pro tip, the immersion can return/fun can increase after a beer or two
  5. Skyrim Special Edition (PS4/XB1/PC)

BotW was a flying leap and bound in the right direction compared to its closest predecessors. I still argue they ran out of time and had to leave the place extremely sparse, but it did have some on the road encounters, a scattering of NPC hubs, and more than one town which is a huge improvement for the series. Going back further, I was extremely disappointed with SS and TP's overworlds because the worlds still felt like abstract platformer worlds, with bottomless pits and tree-walls and zero life beyond a single central village/castle square, not even so much as a postman in a bunny mask. It's what makes me really desperately hope Nintendo will do the only sane thing and build a sequel on the BotW engine immediately, with a focus on density and depth of interaction/life.
  6. What Have You Bought?

The point of the alarm is to simulate real sunrise right? To create a more natural way to wake up. Sounds like you could do with just... a lamp, or a dimmer switch
  7. DC Cinematic Universe Discussion

You can't make $300 mil superhero movies appealing to the people who know what an Antiope is, you have to put silly Whedonesque witticisms in and bright colours and tight leather trousers. That's the only chance you have of making your money back. This is why Wonder Woman was a good film, and this was a reskinned Age of Ultron with worse actors. It wasn't a great film, but it was better than that embarrassing mess that was BvS. It was at least coherent, had a structure. It felt like the comics in places (lets not pretend the source material is great these days) especially Batman at the beginning. Ezra Miller's acting was the only thing I couldn't really get on with at all. And 50% of the dialogue was atrocious. In some ways it felt like a ten episode TV series squeezed into five.
  8. What Have You Bought?

Yeah I figured as much getting one for my gf because she has teeny hands.
  9. Arrowverse TV Shows

I used to love these shows, but at some point I just stopped :/ dunno if its a sign of growing old or what. Actually there was a pivotal point that put me off and I never recovered. An episode of Arrow came out, and it had a "previously on" featuring loads of stuff I hadn't seen. That made me realise that if I wanted the complete experience, I had to catch up on Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow, neither of which I particularly enjoy. I think not being able to put in the effort needed for that told me that I just didn't have it in me anymore. Arrow started off as such a good show, then fell victim to just getting dumber and dumber and dumber as time went on. The roster expanded constantly in all different, infeasible directions. It was so much better when Oliver was a solo badass surgically taking apart targets and large groups of criminals. Obviously that format couldn't continue forever but I don't really enjoy the soap opera twists it took, the love triangles or the menagerie of sidekicks and buddies. Felicity's deus ex hachina bs drives me mad too, can't stand the "guy in the chair" that can solve everything by hacking into satellites, sensors, security systems etc in a split second. Flash has pretty similar issues. Barry is so incompetent, never really solves anything himself. Either his team figures things out for him, or he fucks things up. He's like the JD of superheroes. Supergirl was just never enjoyable past the first episode. That said, Arrow was starting to get a bit less terrible in the last season, and I read many people who said it was a return to form for the show, so I may be willing to give that one another shot.
  10. What Have You Bought?

Yeah I knew it was coming here since it was announced. Just pre-ordered one in black and some green spray paint
  11. What Have You Bought?

Is this the Hori controller for smaller hands? Very interested in this for my SO, didn't know it was out yet (imported?). Even quite like the Dragon Quest (?) decal despite not having any interest in the series does it come in green??
  12. Doom

I gotta be honest. I think your PC may be wasted on you
  13. Make sure to say that during the date, it'll definitely help make you seem less old.
  14. Super Mario Odyssey

I'm definitely enjoying Odyssey a lot more the further I get into it. I think the first couple of worlds are a little underwhelming (doesn't help that evidently I just waltzed straight past one of the most talked-about parts of the first world without noticing it) and then after that it ramps right up. I've switched from finding the moons to be a little to easy to being quite rewarding to try and round them all up in a reasonable time. Maybe it's not going to have the replayability of SM64 but I might actually be able to complete it as a busy adult and feel good about it!
  15. bad stuff thread.

Holy crap! That's potentially a tidy profit! Congrats. What kind of wallet was it in? Hope you didn't cash out on Oct 15
  16. Sonic Forces (2017)

Hahahahahahahaha. Typical Sonic. Part of my childhood dies every time one of these shitshows comes out.
  17. Super Mario Odyssey

This is a lovely game and a great entry for the series, but at the same time it's very straightforward, you just plow through moon collection without much brainpower. The biggest challenge is that damn purple insta-death goo which I fall victim to frequently just because I'm rushing. And it kinda feels more like an entry in the BK series than a Mario game, what with all the NPCs with their gibberish voices and jokes/riddles. Those are my only gripes though, it's a very fun experience. Doesn't do anything to topple Galaxy or SM64 as my fav 3D Marios, but a worthy outing and great use of the Switch visually/technically.
  18. New Software!

Tbh I thought this had been impossible for a long time simply because YT made it so the players don't work that way anymore. They were l literally just tiny Youtube videos that were so small you could only see the controls. They weren't really proper "audio" players, you were just loading the video. If you tried to make one now, it would just come out like this: http://navarr.me/ytaudio/?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D0e4Crth_Hb8&s=on&psize=s&theme=dark
  19. Talk about your memories of the game, waiting for it to arrive, where or when you played it. How much you anticipated it, whether it lived up to your expectations, if you ever beat it, if you've ever been back to it since. Many of these games you may have replayed on Virtual Console or remakes, but try and stick to your first experience of it. I never actually played this so I can't weigh in!
  20. House buying is the worst

If I understand rightly you've been self employed through your site for a long time right? It's much more difficult to convince a bank of your financial situation when you don't just have a basic paycheck. Even people who own companies can have problems if they don't pay themselves a wage normally. Freelancers can have a nightmare.
  21. What Have You Bought?

I used to use Special Reserve and I still have the GBC MGS and remember both fondly. There was so much post-game content and secrets, it was awesome.
  22. DC Cinematic Universe Discussion

I think it looks good. Definitely feel more positive than I did about BvS, but maybe that's just because Wonder Woman was so refreshingly decent.
  23. Indie Games

Stardew Valley is so great. Those of you that skipped it or otherwise missed out until now, you're going to really enjoy it.
  24. No time to write a blurb this week, but since it's just hitting many of your shelves in the form of the SNES Classic Mini, lets chat about this awesome game, with controls and complexities ahead of its time.
