  1. Forrest Gump 8/10

I actually only saw this for the first time a couple of days ago. Very enjoyable. Tom Hanks is brilliant, he really makes you feel for his character.

    Full Metal Jacket 9/10

Awesome film. The first part of the film is both incredibly funny and disturbing come the end as the men go through training. The second half was equally as enjoyable as the recruits battle their way through Vietnam.

    Goldfinger 8/10

In my opinion, not quite as good as some of Brosnan's, but that's probably becuase I grew up with them and had one gold cartridge for the N64. However, it was still very impressive, both funny and exciting. Great theme song.

    Gangs of New York 6/10

Not one of Scorsese's best, but it has some decent moments, mainly Daniel Day Lewis. But it's long and it goes a little over the top at times.

    Rear Window 9.5/10

Wonderfully crafted and charming Hitchcock classic.

  2. Yeah I saw your time at the top of the rankings list, impressive. icon14.gif

How did you go about collecting the coins on the dirt patches?

It's a shame you can't view peoples replay data for comps. :hehe:

Through the dirt patches I use mushrooms. I begin the run by going on the far left and collecting the three coins over the jump.

  3. How are people liking the current competition?

I'm enjoying it, but finding it pretty difficult to get a decent time. It's just the way that the coins are positioned on the dirt patches, with the ones either side of the main row that makes it annoying. :hmm:

I had a go at the comp on the first day and managed to get 56.7xx I think. It was quite fun, I wouldn't have minded having more time to improve.

  4. Aww... come one, are you serious? :(

Well, I just watched those two after seeing them ranked highly in Empire's Top 500, so maybe I was expecting too much. My first impression wasn't great, but 7 is not a bad score. Perhaps when I come to re-watch them, my opinion may improve.

  5. Original Star Wars Trilogy

I just bought the new boxset and re-watched the original three for the first time in a long time and I thoroughly enjoyed them. Each is a perfect two hours long and combines great story, character, action and humour. For me it's very difficult to seperate the three in terms of quality, as I like Return Of The Jedi just as much as the first two. And yes, everyone should see Star Wars! 9.5/10

    Goodfellas

Tremendous film. A superbly flowing story of the life of Henry Hill: "As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster". 9/10

    Heat

Another film I really enjoyed. Al Pacino and Robert De Niro squaring off over a coffee is classic and the shoot out after the bank robbery is brilliant. 9/10

    Pulp Fiction

I didn't think this was as good as it's reputed to be. I didn't really enjoy the mis-match of stories, but the script and action is good. 7/10

    Fargo

Not brilliant, but still interesting and enjoyable to watch. 7/10

  6. Hey I'm off to Kent on the 21st and from what I've read so are Twozzok and Dom? You guys are 1st years as well then? I'm probably going to pay for my accomodation online tomorrow, as I also read somewhere the deadline was the 20th, but is that incorrect? I guess earlier the better to pay though. I hope I've got everything sorted, I'm kinda worried I've missed something important on an e-mail or letter.

  7. I just looked at the recent competition rankings and... the world champ beat the comp in under a second!

    How so?

It's a hacked time. There are a lot of hackers about at the moment. The true champion is Mick with 2:20.xxx. Unfortunatly hackers are currently invading the rankings and online. Nintendo get rid of them from the rankings ASAP, but they come back quickly :( It really is sad and annoying since I should be No.1 on Luigi Circuit and not some hacker!

Least the new comp looks great!

  8. I've set the new Luigi Circuit World Record! Finally!!

    1:09.831 :D

I hope it lasts for a while, the record's been broken a fair few times recently. Just a week or two would be nice. Maybe the Japs will take it easy for a while :heh:

  9. Wow, that's actually loads faster than my Time Trial record for that track!

Best I've managed on this comp is like 2:50 or so. :heh:

Loving it though, it's really funny. The noise DK makes when he hits you is so ridiculous it cracks me up every time I hear it.

Yeah it is funny: the first time I saw them slipping on their own bananas and throwing them miles from where I was, I had to restart from all the laughing

Got my time down to 2:23 now. I want to get into the Top 10, but I don't think this will be good enough.

  10. The new competiton's quite funny. Donkey and Diddy Kong chase you round the track throwing bananas to put you off, while you try and finish in the quickest time. Their aim is fairly poor, most seem to end up halfway up the hills around the side of the track, especially before the bridge! However, they litter the cave with the damn things. The only weapon we're allowed is the green shell and it's fairly easy to hit them as you get so many.

Well, after a few attempts my best is 2:24.x, which I hope to improve later ;)

  11. Luigi, Moo Moo and Shy Guy are horrible online. In Shy Guy Beach if you have a kart/bike which doesn't do well offroad (i.e. in the water) then it's so hard to do well, not to mention those damn crabs. And I agree, N64 Bowser Castle rocks!

On another note I'm up to World #2 on Luigi Circuit with a 1'09"945!

  12. I was at Silverstone for the weekend, had an awesome time. Great to see Hamilton win, he was totally dominant. The best moment was when Hamilton overtook Kovalainen for the lead at the corner I was situated :heh: Really good to see the cars live and got some good pictures as well, definitely worth it!

  13. I was a big WWF fan in the attitude era, it was superb to watch between 1997-2001. The atmosphere used to be so much better then compared to now, the crowd would go mental when a big superstar's music hit. My two personal favourites are The Rock and Stone Cold; they really knew how to get a crowd going. WMX7 saw them clash in my favourite PPV of all time. I thought the Invasion storyline worked well, but it signalled the ending of an era. I have not watched WWF seriously since 2002, simply because it is no longer enjoyable to watch.

    My top 5:

    The Rock

    Stone Cold

    The Undertaker

    Kurt Angle

    Triple H.

  14. The N64! My first console and home to very fond memories. So many classics, perhaps I'll get the old thing out again. Quite recently I've been buying some games on eBay I never had and haven't got round to playing them yet. I currently have 19 games. I think most of the famous games have been nominated, so I'll just say my personal favourite is a close call between Ocarina, Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing. Of course I loved Mario 64 and Goldeneye as well, hell it's an impossible task to narrow it down to one :p
